Amazing how calm the drivers are, waiting for the light to change, not in a hurry at all. They also continue to drive towards the power flashes. These are professional tornado experiencers.
Wow!! I finally found footage of the tornado my family and I went through!! I actually grew up on the street you were driving on, if you had gone north for like 5 more seconds, you would have captured my childhood home. I still remember being in the living room with my family as we all saw the poles come down in an instant and that's when we rushed into our neighbors shelter. My dad and uncle struggled to keep the shelter door closed due to the winds and it was one of the scariest things I ever lived through as a kid. Thankfully, our home was fine but we were out of power for a couple of days but others did receive some damage. I never realized how close that tornado was!!
Yep, remember this well. I was heading to my job at Lowe's off of 24th. I came up Hwy77 from the Noble area about the time all heck broke loose! My mom was living in a house on Canterbury at that time. Figured she was safe. I usually turn left on Hwy 9, but with the weather, decided to go straight. About the time I hit Alameda, the rain and hail started really coming down. I was really getting scarred as I had no idea where the tornado was! I pulled into a pharmacy drive-through and waited out the storm. The pharmacy folks had taken cover and there was a piece of cardboard in the window that said, "TORNADO"!!!!!!! LOL!
When I saw your windshield wiper blade near the end there, it was nearly in synch with the power poles - so for a second I was like "Oh crap!" thinking a pole was coming down on the front of your car or the one in front of you.
The poles went down along 24th Ave SW, just north of Highway 9. I was facing the north when they snapped. The tornado was just north of these snapping poles, crossing 24th at the time.
Finally I got to see this tornado in more detail, I was at work and we had to go to our designated shelters. After they let us out I got a brief glancing look at it from work, just SE of highway 9 and 24th SE while it was moving out of Norman towards Shawnee. It was back to a wall c. by then but it still looked dangerous.
I was at the intersection Highway 9 and 24th Ave SW, looking northwest and then north as you see the power flashes at the ground, and then the poles snapping.
no! but mike morgan called it but it took a long time maybe 2 or more minutes before the siren went off. my house is one block to the northwest of this.
its a like a really loud siren like Police Cars or Hospital Cars Firetruck those are sirens. Tornado Sirens are like that upset way louder and go on for at least 2/3 Mins. it warns you that the tornado is near.
Crappy weak power poles. That one just snapped like a twig. They're probably very old and overdue for replacement. High voltage wires that high should be on steel pylons or reinforced concrete poles.

Pretty scary to see those poles going down at the end. Glad to read your family is OK.

Am I the only one who's noticed that in a lot of videos of tornadoes hitting Oklahoma, there's power poles on both sides of the road? Just wondering.
What street were you driving on when the power line poles went down?
