      Most important part of the lift is how your hips are loaded when you take the bar off the floor. Watch lashas pelvis as he brings the bar to his shins, it shifts and so does his knees in relation.

      It’s very quick but don’t look at the bar and the weight lifted. Watch the bidy and how it moves around the weight

    Ruslan got robbed on his 189 snatch. Theres a difference between catching the bar with bent elbows and pressing out vs catching the bar with locked arms and having a bit of elbow wobble.

      @@duncanthaw6858 Agreed!! Single arm white lights, both arms red. Press outs makes no sense to the casual fan and allowing one arm vs two still helps with risk mitigation for the athletes, as in should not lead to extremely dangerous technique/refusals to bail.

    • @WeightliftingHouse

      There is a visual difference, but there isn’t a difference in terms of outcome unfortunately

      I think they should do away with the whole press-out rule. As long as they get the weight overhead with arms locked out at the end I couldn't care less how it gets there - I'm impressed either way.

      @@nonexistent7257 it's true, you have to see Zakharevich vs Botev vs Rizvan Geliskhanov in 1990 european tournament, that video had to be called 'it's no place to weakness' the total was Botev 445, 250 c&j and 195 snatch, Zakharevich 442.5, 242.5 c&j and 200 snatch, Gelishkanov 440, 237.5 c&j and 202.5 snatch, in my humble opinion the most incredible battle

    When a press out becomes just a shakey elbow, you know its gone to far.

  • @davisreynolds685

    I'm new to this, so forgive my ignorance, by can someone explain to me why it's perfectly legal to chase the bar and safe a lift if it gets in front of you, but press outs are illegal? Both seem to fall into the same category of saving an almost missed lift to me. Why is there something so bad about a press out?

    • @AlexanderLewis15
      @AlexanderLewis15 2 роки тому +10

      As far as I’m aware (correct me if I’m wrong) goes back into the history of the sport, there used to be a separate lift that was a push press, so to differentiate that from the jerk, they added the elbow press out rule, they got rid of that lift but still maintain the press out rule

      strength required & it becomes 2 lifts
      chasing the bar is stabilising your lift
      Pressing out and it goes from a clean and jerk to clean and shoulder press

    • @youngKOkid1
      @youngKOkid1 2 роки тому +3

      There is no good reason for the press out rule to exist.

    • @germanwolf9212
      @germanwolf9212 2 роки тому

      As others have stated, it goes back to the time of the clean and press.
      But nowadays many see the press out rule as part of a sport that holds itself to the highest standard. Goal of the jerk is to accelerate the bar to a height where you can jump under and catch the bar with completely extended arms. If you fail to do that, it means the technique wasn't well executed or the weight was too heavy.
      I personally think that a press out looks very ugly, although the judges often seem to go overboard with slight wobbles in the shoulders or ellbows.
