The next episode has Langa learn how to skate and trachea real life skateboarding stuff. Like stances, how to ollie, etc. The last episode actually had a casper flip and was accurate lol From a skateboarding perspective, it's decent. From an anime perspective, it's good
Oof. He stops watching the anime before the intro of the freestyle skateboarder in episode 3. Would’ve loved to hear his critique of his tricks. Oh well.
You have to remember that anime, 9 times out of 10, is about good guy vs bad guy. It's a lot easier to do that in a 1v1 race format than having them do best trick or run based contests. Sure it could have been about making a video part or something, but an underground skating deathrace group gives more space for wacky anime characters and wild, over exaggerated feats of strength or skill. Also, why does everybody hate races so much? I always liked deathraces in skate and my friends and I do short races downhill or in laps around the local park.
It literally could've just been a show about games of SKATE. A race just shows a misunderstanding of what skateboarding is. People hate the deathraces because that's not what skateboarding is. No one actually does that shit lol.
@@BigFatCock0 Saying that that's not what skateboarding is is a fundamental misunderstanding of what skateboarding is. Skateboarding is whatever you want it to be. That's why there's vert, street, park, freestyle, longboarding, etc. Most skaters would say that contests or Olympic skating isn't what skating is about but that doesn't mean that contest skaters aren't skaters. Just because skating isn't all about racing doesn't mean you can't race on a skateboard. People like competition and games of skate would be boring as fuck for someone who isn't super into skating. You're thinking of this as a SKATEBOARDING anime instead of an ANIME about skateboarding. You want it to hit all the points you like about skating rather than the points the fans like about anime.
@TOXIC-fo2bc Get a life gatekeeper. Skating is about whatever I want it to be. If I want to do footplants and push Mongo, I will. If I want to mall grab, try and stop me. i really suggest checkin out the rest of the anime while its coming out; it's good and while it does revolve around racing, at least imo it's pretty good in both animation and how skating is represented with like. its different styles and stuff. and its just fun to watch! :0
The second episode focuses more on teaching Langa to skate properly and Reki talking about how skateboarding makes you feel etc. the racing shit is whack for sure, I think it’s included to give casual viewers something ‘tangible’ to wrap their head around (it’s easier to tell who’s ‘winning’). I’m not head over heels in love with the show but episode 2 made me decide not to drop it just yet. If you don’t wanna keep watching do you but thought I’d mention it if anyone’s reading and isn’t sure if they should keep watching.
Haven’t watched the second episode yet. But the introduction of the characters was a little underwhelming. The skate physics and whatnot was good besides the last race being completely unrealistic. Also like the yt said no one races so they should’ve focused the anime more on competition or drama.

weewwww looking sharp there brother. anyway great video as always! i think the focus on racing in a lot of skating cartoons or whatever, is because the objective and who is "winning"/doing better in the competition is clearer to non-skaters, and it also lends itself a little easier to a tv show - its something that has also been established. we all recognise the various narrative tropes of a race, how they build tension etc. i suppose when making a new show, to draw people in, you may want to include some established storyline elements. personally tho as a skater it is weird to see a focus on racing cos i dont think ive raced on skateboards since first learning to push off!
If you look closely at the ending credits, there is a "Landyachts" there somewhere, so i guess studio is collaborating or getting some sort of assistance from this skate brand for actual skateboarding stuff.
So, the quote that Langa says is, "It's different, but there's a familiarity to it." That means that it's reminiscent of snowboarding, not that it's incredibly similar. On that right turn, he puts the back side up to where the board's on it's side, and he mentions that he had forgotten that he's supposed to use the wheels because he's not used to the wheels as a snow boarder. I also don't find racing on something that's made for movement very uncommon. Yeah, it may not be the most popular thing for skate boarding, but there are definitely groups of people who band together for street races. I understand that you're tired, and annoyed about the striken but not taking that inti account, I rate this review a 6.5/10. Taking it into account, it's a 7-7.5.
First time seeing one of your reviews, I have a question, did one of your clips show a sticker or any decal from the anime? It's not uncommon for these type of anime to be commissioned by actual brands.

Hey Rad Rat, I know this video is a few months old, but a few weeks ago, I started watching the dub for SK8 the Infinity, which is really good btw, but If you ever do review another anime and wanna show clips, then in my experience, I recommend playing clips no longer than 10 seconds. Well, Im glad I watched this first because I was literally getting ready to do a review on the show for my channel but I guess i'll pass lol. I did watch the second episode and I was impressed on the skate talk. Reki makes a custom board off one of those unshaped kits one can actually purchase and he even talks about wheelbase. they show some skatepark stuff and the physics of the tricks were pretty well done. nothing was really exaggerated IMO, specially being an amine.
What a cop-out. Not moving past the first few episodes. The main character skates on a freeboard, one of the other uses sharkwheels, the first quarter is about learning to skate with the basics
It’s not channels issuing claims, it’s media companies. Most of them don’t upload videos. Also, you have to pay youtube a bunch of $$$$$$ and go through a whole verification process to get access to the copyright claim system.
I’m already enjoying the anime and making viewing it at 2021 anime of the year but I’m trying to be bias when watching it. Also sucks that you got copyrighted and hopefully it can be resolved
Anime just isn't my thing. Burnt on too much old school, early anime where it was primarily freeze frame animation - loud screams - and no "fluid" action. I see the beauty in the still artwork (or in books), but I just cannot watch it in a video medium. Mad props to those who do like it though.
@Miss Asian Peach Lots of freeze frames (where the background moves but the character does not). Growing up watching animation in the US, it is difficult to understand the appeal of anime. "American animation" is all "movement" with almost no "freeze frames." It was not until I was older that I appreciated the true beauty of anime, but except for the classics (Akira, Fist of the North Star, Vampire Hunter D, etc) I have never really gone back and watched any others. There are a few in the "American Style" like Astro Boy, but many (from my generation - 1970s) did not translate well for me. All that said, anime is BEAUTIFUL and takes massive talent to make. Just not really my thing.
1. I am disappointed at how you got copyright strikes :( there are sooo many sk8 videos/ clips here in youtube and people had been adding clips of the things they review since forever so wtf youtube? Or maybe it was funimation? 2. "Death race except scarier" You haven't seen Adam... 3. "The one bad guy" aka Shadow is not seen by the fandom as a bad guy at all lolol. Who cares about him throwing bombs or flashing lights to people with eye problems? Who cares about him wanting to break Reki's arm for good or burning his skateboard? No one. Unless a person gets in the way of a ship, that person isn't a bad guy 😑 (sorry for the rant) 4. "You can attack other person" funny how this was shown right on the first ep but fandom pretends otherwise. 5. "The skateboard kinda looks weird tho" Adam's board. BOARDS. Like in final ep he had a coffin looking skateboard that transformed into a cross hahahaha. (Anyway Cherry blossom, the guy with pink hair, is human. He has AI assistant named Carla that is installed in his board). Kinda sad that you wouldn't watch anymore. Well yeah, it was more on high school dramas (toxic ones on later eps) and races though. Violent races. Scary stuffs. There's also some politics there too. Adam dancing on his skateboard if I may add. Hey, he had a trick called Love Hug where "he goes uphill". I hate science but Cherry tried to explain that and I still didn't understand lol Also, sub is better than dub because they made lots of changes in the dub but then again you're not gonna watch anymore :( Anyway, I might get hate for this because fandom hates the truth hahaha I only came here because I was wondering if any real skater had seen/ made a review on sk8 and someone linked me this vid. Still a nice review 👌

lmao i didn't know this even existed. i might have to watch the show someday when i'm very very un-sober.
The amount of comments going "no0o0o0! U g0ttA sIft thr0Ugh thE gArbAge pIl0t thAts c0mplEtEly dIffErEnt fr0m thE rEst 0f thE sErIEs" is laughable
BRO THIS SHIT BANGS, YOU GOTTA
Back and ready to kick gum and chew ass.. and I'm all out of gum
the first episode of this anime slaps harder than every episode of AOT SAO and Shippuden put together we get something fun and creative new like air gear this anime is going places
The second episode I felt was a little better.
Damn lmfao looking handsome af my guy
If you EVER reconsider upload a commentary video maybe you should put up a disclaimer like other channels do! Keep up the hard work
What a cop-out. Not moving past the first few episodes. The main character skates on a freeboard, one of the other uses sharkwheels, the first quarter is about learning to skate with the basics
My bot! Haircut looking fresh!
chad rat chad rat
I want to invent my own studio and just copyright strike channels that unjustly strike other channels
It’s not channels issuing claims, it’s media companies. Most of them don’t upload videos. Also, you have to pay youtube a bunch of $$$$$$ and go through a whole verification process to get access to the copyright claim system.
the hair looking great i must say
I’m already enjoying the anime and making viewing it at 2021 anime of the year but I’m trying to be bias when watching it. Also sucks that you got copyrighted and hopefully it can be resolved
Edit the photo so you don’t have to get copyright strike
@Miss Asian Peach Yes indeed.
@Miss Asian Peach That and the constant shouting. I will try the "Princess and the Pilot" and see how it is.
Show is like beyblade but with skateboards
episode 2 is fire tho
Get to episode 4 and one of the characters literally breaks the lays of Physics 😑
No one. Unless a person gets in the way of a ship, that person isn't a bad guy 😑 (sorry for the rant)
I hate science but Cherry tried to explain that and I still didn't understand lol
Also, sub is better than dub because they made lots of changes in the dub but then again you're not gonna watch anymore :(
Anyway, I might get hate for this because fandom hates the truth hahaha
I only came here because I was wondering if any real skater had seen/ made a review on sk8 and someone linked me this vid. Still a nice review 👌
Honestly, anyone that throws an immediate strike for a "review" knows that their work is BS and they're trying not to get called on it. screw those guys and that show F 'em
Should create a back up channel called Risk Rat that is exclusively at risk of copyright content
Was just thinking of this. A channel to test the waters of what YT will or won’t take down.
make some noise on twitter about this. charlie (cr1tikal) fought the copyright douchers and it took going to twitter about it for anything to get done.
Nice haircut 👌
Yuto Horigome happy about this anime huh.
