In rimworld your mortars either don't hit anything or hit so perfectly that they destroy all loots with the targets
Oh I have a story one mortar hit perfectly the only raider with a doomsday it then landed on the ground and in front of the explosion of the same mortar round was damaged enough to go off and then killed the two others with triple rockets then a second mortar hits and sets them off. Roughly 15 kills 1 downed with shit loot and on fire. So in the end no loot.
I remember this one glittertech mod I had to stop using in part because the mortars always work TOO well and leave you with nothing to loot
That’s one way to deter raiders.

When your target is moving and consists of 2 raiders, yeah. When you're getting sieged by 30-50 people though it comes in handy.

If you use mortar accuracy, your high Int or Shoot colonists will end up precision-dropping multiple shells on the same location, which wastes shells after 2 or 3.
Meaning, the low stat colonists you might have are better for the likes of the 11x jortars, because they retain the spread

I never liked the idea of having forced miss and reinforced barrels.

Shut the duck up and install mods. The game in vanilla is absolutely unplayable, trashy, impossible to not die and overall not fun.

If not, then your good news is u can have endless amount of mods to tweak the game in the way you want, as cheating is not something i care in videogames as long as it makes me happy about it, but that is just my opinion.
