💜 Prince's look change contently from the very moment he arrived on the scene in 1977 to his untimely death. A lot of rock and funk stars dressed like that in the late 60s though out the 70s. And purple was a very popular color word use before Hendrix.💜🎸💜
@@purpleflowers699 please don't try and separate prince from his master. Prince was a jimi Hendrix disciple. From the way he dressed to the way he played guitar.
@@dr.manhattan6278 💖 I'm sorry but you're talking to a Prince historian here. I got to witness both Jimi Hendrix and Prince. Prince obviously for far longer than I did Hendrix, but as much as a lot of people focused on their superficial similarities, their differences are great. The man who discovered Prince, Chris Moon was the one who told Prince that the color purple should be associated with him, because purple is the color of royalty and his first name is Prince👑. We're not even 100% sure that purple is Prince's favorite color. Prince never actually said what his favorite color was. People just assume it because of the title of his movie Purple Rain☔. His sister said she believed his favorite color was orange🍊. Prince didn't even want to use his first name, because he was teased as a child. All the other kids used to call him Princess.👸 Prince was asked in the 80s who his favorite guitarist was, he said Carlos Santana. Prince loved Carlo's more delicate technique to playing the guitar compared to Jimi's over the top way of doing it. Prince found a way to combine those two techniques to the highest level, which is one of the many reasons I consider him to be the greatest guitarists of all time. Because of his variety of skill and technique. I know that I'm eventually going to get someone challenging that opinion, but I stand by it 1000%. Prince preferring Carlos over Jimi doesn't mean he didn't like Jimi. I like Jimi. He was an innovator who took the guitar into new directions that had never been taken before and no one can ever take that away from Jimi Hendrix, he was the first. But Prince took it even further. Maybe if Jimi had live longer that would had been him to do that, but he died way to young, like Prince eventually did. The only master Prince ever had was God. He always followed his own path, so he was not a disciple to any human being. But he did admire and study other musicians. He loved instruments, all instruments that's how he became an expert in not only the guitar, but the bass, keyboards and drums as well. Prince was always trying to out do himself, no one else. The only person who could compete with Prince...was Prince.💖🎸💖🌟💖🎤💖👑💖🎹💖
@@purpleflowers699 And your talking to Hendrix historian. Prince realized early in his career that he was being compared to Hendrix. And like most guitarists he would deflect and say that he was more into someone else style because he didn't like being compared. But for some odd reason he was always emulating Jimi 's Style of dress, especially in the beginning and towards the end. and guitar playing style. Not Carlos Santana. I get it. You prince fanboys and girls, like to think he's a pioneer, but he's not. Since you're such a "And as far as his guitar playing goes, just ask Jessie Johnson and jellybean where his influence lies. You're not a historian, you're just a loyal fanboy.
@@dr.manhattan6278 💖 Actually I worked in the entertainment industry from the mid-70s to the mid-90s. My family who had much higher level careers in the industry then I had, started in the 60s and there are still a few working in movies and sports now, so I'm far more then a fan like yourself. If Prince's interest was to deflect from someone else then why did he name Carlos Santana? He would have done what so many newcomers do and not name anyone. He didn't say that he wasn't a fan of Hendrix, he just named the person he liked the most. But I get you and what you're trying to say. When Prince was just starting it shouldn't come as a surprise that he wouldn't want to be compare with someone else. But...and this is an extremely important but. Prince had long since established himself in the music world long before he died at the age of 57. At 57 with all the recognition he has received, conveying that Jimi Hendrix was the #1 influence on him would have been something that he would have done if it was all that relevant to him or true. Since you're NOT a Prince historian I wouldn't expect you to know that Prince met Carlos before he even became well known to the public. By the time Prince became well known to the public he was already the talk of the town on the west coast by other musicians. I at times worked around Prince and some of his ex-employees from the mid-70s to the mid-90s. I'm not saying I was friends with him, but I like the two men you mentioned above are ex-employees of his. And both men are known for not being completely truthful with the circumstances back then. I heard jellybean complain about how little money Prince paid them back then a million times. Prince was not the one paying their salaries, that was Warner Bros records. Unless you're signed to a 3 or 7 year contract you are paid scale, which is the industry's form of minimum wage. The only person who was signed to a 7-year contract at the beginning was Prince. There are so many factors that are easy to sweep under the rug especially now that Prince is gone, but also because he never responded to anything that anyone said. Prince was the one who payed out of his own pocket for the things that they needed. Prince would also have to pay the record company back for all the things he needed for recording and touring. For himself as well as for the two additional bands. He never asked them to repay him for their expenses. If he had with the cost of transportation, motel accommodation, costumes and especially studio time they would of been in debt for a very very long time. They like to say he was a jerk because he was staying in hotels and riding in limousines while they were staying at cheap motels and had to take cabs. Well he could afford it and at that time and later they were at different levels in the industry. Also at that time he didn't have the money that he would have after Purple Rain. Employees later on would be able to stay in hotels. It's just sour grapes🍇 for Jessie. He's even so full of himself that he believes that Prince tried to stand in the way of him becoming successful. If that's what Prince was about then why didn't he do that to Jam and Lewis? And also didn't Jessie get a record contact when he went solo. Obviously Prince didn't stand in the way of that. Jessie didn't become successful that's on him just like the others. One of the best things to happen for Prince was for all of them to go out on their own. Prince actually made it to easy for them and because of that they automatically assumed from the moment they enter the industry that they should be at the top level that Prince was. Prince at the beginning had to stay in cheap motels and travel in a broken down car. He even had to share his motel room with his than manager and his wife. It was completely understandable why Prince had very little contact with those people throughout the years. Some people make it, some people don't that's just the way it is. I told you before that I was around to see Jimi Hendrix. The clothes you're describing him wearing was popular back then. Groups, bands, hippies just about everybody was dressing like that, lol. Jimi didn't invent that look! Maybe the headband but nothing else and Prince as far as I can remember never even wore a headband. And do you have any idea how many songs back then had the word purple in it. That was the look of the late 60s and early to mid 70s. I think the first time I saw celebrities dressing in that fashion, it was The Beatles. Prince was always changing his look. Which is evident by his album covers though the years. And him returning to the style of the afro in the last years of his life was not done so he could look like Jimi Hendrix. The afro has always been a part of our culture long before Jimi Hendrix or Prince were born. The only thing that really changed was how big could you get it in the 70s. Prince was just starting to write his biography when he passed on. In reality he never intended to write a biography. He only did it because of all the misinformation that was being put out there, so we will never know the truth about the majority of things in Prince's life. From the time he was a child to the day he died he was an extremely private person, so I was really surprised when I heard he decided to write the bio THE BEAUTIFUL ONES. I don't expect you to be educated on any true information on Prince. This is Insider information from the past. Not to mention you describe yourself as a Jimi Hendrix historian. Therefore I shouldn't expect you to know much about Prince and his musical history. Your information seems to be coming from disgruntled ex-employees, gossip, hearsay, half-truths, tabloid magazines and so-called tell-all books. You're opinion is that Prince wasn't a pioneer and you're completely entitled to your uneducated opinion, but there is a whole music industry out there that knows better. They're the ones who are educated on everything that Prince did. Not only the things in plain sight for you the public, but the contributions he's made behind the scenes that change touring and music forever. You refer to me as being a loyal Prince fan, well that's one of the highest compliments you can pay someone who is a fan of great musicianship and originality, so thank you for the compliment.💖🎸💖🎤💖🎹💖
Prince creates a digital version.Jimi only had transistor technology back then.Prince edited out Buddy Miles long section in the middle,as it is cool but slows the tune down too much, imo. You can't faithfully compare Hendrix to anybody today because of the fact that he died so young so long ago and had nothing technologically compared to today or even 10 years after his death. Prince did a great job in introducing some of Jimi Hendrix to an entirely different audience.
No question Prince is B A D A S S ----- here. I never knew he was such hot stuff--- Jimi would be proud of him !!!!

With Hendrix, it's not really worth even listening to this after the original. Even with Prince or SRV.
イングヴェイといいプリンスといい直接的に影響を受けた人物を隠したがるよね。彼らのプレイにモロに表れてるのに笑
OLTRE
Nice, but even the Great Prince can't touch Jimi....
4 me not thru, Prince is the master, Jimi was the teacher.
I hate the reeds in this song
they don't know what my baby is throwing down... prince should have listen to the song before this jam great playing they just don't know the song or forgot the riff and lyrics, to chicago players this is average
mykmmc to hell with Chicago, this is Seattle meets Minneapolis son
In the music life some days are good and some are not so great and every musician will know this as a matter of fact

Prince copied hendrix constantly from dress sense the whole purple thing i saw that the first time i saw prince in the 80s.
All the other kids used to call him Princess.👸
Prince was asked in the 80s who his favorite guitarist was, he said Carlos Santana.
This is actually better than the Band of Gypsies, and I'm sure Hendrix himself would have happily agreed.
Its too clean, Band of Gypsys is raw emotion
You trippin.
@Darrin Robinson ON second thoughts, I realise that everyone who says I am wrong about this is RIGHT!
Bruh! Don't let Hendrix fans bully or manipulate u into changing your mind. Live by and own up to your first statement, fuck how they feel 😂😂😂
