I'm new at water-based oils so that brought me to this demo. I've been painting for 50 years and taught - mostly en Plein air watercolor - have done ok but still need to take a big leap. I enjoyed the interview also your honesty and humility, Lori!! All the best from Greece!
Great point about dark reflections being lighter and light being darker. Something I sort of knew but had never expressed in words. By coincidence as you said it, the TV program my wife was watching had a scene with a man sitting by a lake with dark trees being reflected, which were much lighter!
You’re excellent at telling what your doing and why, thank you. Had to laugh at your commenting on flying and looking down at farmers fields and wanting to do a plein/plane air painting.

Love the "nocturne" stage. Though absolutely stunning after color is added. Great tutorial. Bravo!
Love your work Lori. And I love how you can talk about your methods, attitudes and inspiration.

So illuminating
Lori-are you in the Sun Valley area? I will be spending the summer there.
How did you apply the blue, and what did you put on canvass first
I use water and walnut oil when I paint water mixable oil paint.
Can you explain why you use the cold wax medium? Is it to add body?
fantastic
Great work, now May I use linseed oil instead of quick dry medium? , thank you.
Not sure; she's using water-soluble oils if that helps.
I need to know the yellow that’s furthest right. Naples?
I was told not to use water to use linseed oil
Thank you for the demo did you tone the canvas with cobra and water or acrylic please?
I think she mentioned cobra early on.
How do hard of hearing people watch because the subtitles aren't turned on?
...headphones
Yes! I lost and then regained (hallelujah) my hearing and went into working in closed captioning for a few years. No captions is maddening
They work currently. Go to settings and turn on.
