    You must watch Lisa Eldridge's recent video about her "watercolor" technique of using blushes on the eyes and cheeks. A variety of colors all in one look. When you mentioned blush on the eyes, it made me think of it. I also went through a long stretch of my go-to natural, fast, easy look, consisting of a less intense swipe of blush on my eyelids as my eye color. Love your lip color in this video.

    I love the eye look. It is ethereal and exciting. People get too caught up in makeup rules. I like that you don't. You can have shimmer all over the lid and look great!
    I LOVE that you used the word assiduously. The little girl in me who voraciously explored the dictionary for fun got so excited. Even if I did not enjoy makeup at all I would still watch you for your elegance (even when you burp) and great vocabulary.

      Hannah Louise Poston Just read it, brilliant evocation of what Sadie did/is doing for you both. I've got four cats and they enliven my day with their games and spats and the way they curl up with each other. There's something totally self-centred about the way cats operate and yet they bring such joy. I can tell by the way Joe brings Sadie over to you that she lights up your lives.

      P.s. What do you have on your bottom lash line? It's looks like rich burgundy, I've been looking for a brownish burgundy eyeliner that doesn't pull too red (makes me look a little sick).

    • @HannahLouisePoston
      @HannahLouisePoston  5 років тому

      unfortunately it's from Fiona Stiles, I think the whole line is discontinued! It's more of a purple/wine burgundy than a brown/red burgundy, which I think helps with the effect.

    I bought an Em Cosmetics lip cloud because I was super curious about the formula. I asked my friend and fellow youtuber, Phyrra to help me decide which shade to get, Muted Mauve or Faded Clementine. She suggested Faded Clementine because of my skin tone. It arrived last week and is quite lovely. In fact, the first day I wore it I got multiple compliments on it. The formula reminds me of Sugarpill's liquid lipstick formula, except that one dries down a little more. I do have to reapply after eating but it isn't a fuss. Thanks for the recommendation, Em Cosmetics was never on my radar until you and Emily Noel talked about them. :)

    My sister-in-law and I will swap barely used makeup that doesn’t work for the other person. (We have different skin tones, hair color, etc.) People do this because makeup is expensive. Even drugstore makeup 💄. I never doubted when you said you gave the items away. It just makes sense to pass it on to someone else who will get some use from it.

    Yes, I love your make-up look today, especially with your top - dark, simple, understated top, with jewel-like make-up and 'pneumatic' hair, I think it's a very sultry, 'expensive' look. You introduced the 'shop my stash' concept to me - however, I remember saying to a friend years ago that when I have no money, I start to enjoy what I have. Since then, I feel that the shopping bug has got its teeth in deeper. Moreover, I work alone now, as a freelancer and I think this makes me more vulnerable to sensation seeking. The 'shop my stash' thing doesn't give me that little burst of excitement I seek in actual shopping. Therefore, I have had to work on changing the way I direct my energy. Shopping is an addiction and as you so mindfully documented throughout your no-buy year, it's not usually something that resolves itself. It requires some sort of conscious intervention. Over a year ago, I started a part-time Master's in a creative arts subject and so the money is going into something more meaningful now. It's taken time to steer the shopping urges towards creative aims, but I have noticed them diminishing. The 'shop my stash' for me is more about a creative moment with my make-up. For me, the consumerism had begun to replace my creative buzz, because I was no longer working in a directly creative way and I wasn't having a lot of direct social interaction in my job. I think the implications of that are huge - how we can start to look for satisfaction and fulfilment in shopping, consumer goods, when there's a limit to what they can offer us.

    I tasked myself with wearing all of my lip products at least once in addition to my SMS for April. And I’m so so glad I did. All told, with the exception of lip balms I had 24 products, and I did wear every single one at minimum once. I did declutter 3 products by then end of my journey. The most interesting thing for me was how it transformed how I’m doing my makeup. I’m currently flush with bold lip colors. This lead me to completely tone down my eye looks in favor of a bold lip. My method has been prime, color correct, very light wash of complimentary color on lid, then I buff out highlighter all over my lid and drape along my high points, cheek, etc., then a bold lip. So it’s essentially shiny dewy skin and a fun lip and I’m LIVING for it. It helps that besides my chronic dryness I’m having awesome skin days right now.
    The other interesting revelation is that I always looked at my liquid lips as “work”. Like “oh I don’t want to wear these they are so much work”, when in fact the opposite is true! With my bullets I’m reapplying 3-4x a day. With my liquid lippies it’s 2x max. I’ve really enjoyed how tenacious they are. I wish I had more liquid lips in neutral colors. The ones I have now are all vampy dark winter colors so I’ll be keeping my eye out for that.
    My last revelation was how much I love my Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Lipstick in Swag. It is my version if your Em Cosmetics lipstick. It is mousse-y and moisturizing and everything and I don’t know I hadn’t been reaching for it more.
    After this awesome sms I’m considering a similar project for blushes in June. May is a crazy town month for me so I’ll be just wearing makeup “normally” and will probably only do a light SMS.

    Bond Girl - if you decide to purchase it - is what I would classify as a lovely 'nude berry', somewhere in the zone of my-lips-but-better with the berry tone of darker colours in the base. From what we've seen of your lipstick collection, I think you would like the colour.

    My stash is so pared down that I shop it each and every day! I feel great about it though, I unloaded a whole bunch of palettes that I never use (my friend's teenage daughter LOVES me now) and now I only have one or two items left that I'm not sure about. Those are next. After that I'll be in the sweet spot where everything I have is loved and worn and anything new I bring in will be carefully interviewed and screened BEFORE I hire them and show them the benefits package.

      It is very sticky! I don t want to be negative but i was super disapointed in the reviews who don t mention this at all! Really the wear comfort etc can be subjective but this is sticky even on my arm for example. And streaky which is worse than sticky. And high end. My lancome laquer s the ysl glossy stains etc are expensive but deliciously perfect. this not so much. I actually like the ysl liquid balm more and even that one i didn t like for the same reason . Bold colors need a bit of grip to them. Not so slippy allover. :( anyway. I. Salty because i love the color of my bb liquid :(

I can run any product or YTer to her and she understands or has tried it.. I mentioned the BB crushed and she made the face like it was so sticky she had to struggle to separate her lips lol
      Then Allie glines, a Makeup corp’s BFF as she never had anything negative to say, waxed poetic about the liquid BB- then said “this is a lippie you want to wear your hair up with” aka STICKY! Just say it girl! God forbid the sponsorship/ PR train slows down 🙈

    I own the same Colourpop lippie stix and have similar feelings about it. I've found that my favorite way to wear it is to apply a balm like the Laneige sleeping lip mask, blot off just a bit of the excess, and then apply the Colourpop over. Helps the lippie stix glide on effortlessly while still leaving it pretty tenacious and resistant to fading (certainly doesn't last **as** long, but the added comfort and ease of application provided by the balm is a welcome compromise, in my opinion). Absolutely love your channel and perspective.

    I've only recently discovered your channel thanks to our favourite meatball/makeup goblin, Nisipisa, & I'm glad that I finally have! Your content is so inspiring...
    The "shop my stash" video concept really speaks to me because even though my collection is quite modest, it's natural to wind up falling into a makeup rut sometimes & it's good to find that spark again in products you loved so much when they were brand new! UA-cam content focuses a lot on the novelty of products but I think we need to bring novelty into what we already have by trying new things... Treat makeup as art, rather than objects.
    And the technique you employed for your eye look is INCREDIBLE!! My Colourpop duochromes aren't quite as dimensional or reflective as that one, but I'm sure creating a sculpted base underneath will allow them to shine. I'll be sure to try this out soon

    I just returned from a long work trip where I had neither the time nor bandwidth to watch UA-cam, but today I'm taking a much needed day off and catching up on your videos (among other things, lol!). I was one of the people who said I'd shop my stash for ten lipsticks, and it was a total failure. Not because the concept doesn't suit me, but because I was ill and barely left the house for the fist half of April. I had no desire to put on any lipstick at all. I shopped my stash for the Lorac Mega Pro 4 & now I remember what first attracted me about it. It's full of beautiful spring colors & the perfect neutrals for me. Not sure why I haven't used it more- probably the size & feeling overwhelmed by choice at the time I bought it. But now it works for me great, I'm so glad I didn't declutter it. I don't own many actual lipsticks- as in bullet lipsticks & I hate how drying most liquid lipsticks are so I never bought any. I have a handful of inexpensive lipliners & nice glosses & that's basically what I wear most of the time other than lip balm. I've never really been a lipstick person probably because my lips are always chapped. I keep my base products basically the same too( foundation, powder, blush, highlighter)& i don't understand excitement over bronzers or needing more than 1 or 2 but I'm pretty Fair & totally over even faking a tan anymore. Everyone gets excited by different things. Vive la differance'
    Noticed you've been wearing nail polish- how does that feel? I remember you saying in a past video you didn't wear polish. Just something I noticed & didn't know if you mentioned in another video I missed. I always feel differently when I wear nail Polish on my hands ( I get pedicures every 4 weeks)

    I love shop my stash videos. They inspire me to use what I have. I recently got a chunk of money. I've been tempted to purchase eyeshadow palettes I don't need. I do think I'm going to get some singles. I tried the colourpop shadows finally. A gift from my husband...I made own palette but I was underwhelmed by the colourpop shadows. Some of the shimmers and duochromes did not have the intensity that I was looking for. Was really disappointed by glass bull.
    I would love it if you showed pictures of looks you did when you shopped your stash.

      I think the past behavior that I regret the most is spending "windfall" chunks of money on makeup and clothes instead of saving them. If I had saved every bonus, gift, award, etc throughout my twenties and grad school I could have a down payment for a house now...instead I just have a bunch of makeup and clothes THAT I DECLUTTERED

    I want to try an eye look like that but I get intimidated every time! It looks gorgeous. Something I shopped my stash for is a Pixi blush duo. It's a split pan of barely pigmented golden sheen and a silvery pink, as blush it was horrendous. Well, now I go ham with it as a highlight and it gives a fantastic silvery glow. I got inspired seeing one of these on r/PanPorn :) Wouldn't buy it for myself but it came in an advent calendar, so now I can finally use it.

    I'm trying out all my lippies, and at your suggestion have been taking ten at a time, wearing twice; I move 'em out and put in a new one after, and I've happily decluttered several I just don't like and found some I needed to toss. Also figuring out what is missing, and what my faves really are.

    Hannah this is random but have you tried Dr Jart Camo drops for redness? I tried them today and I am SHOOK. It goes on light green and turns beige taking all redness away. Hoping you try it and it blows your mind. I had bought the Sephora color corrector on your recommendation but Dr. Jart blows it out of the water!

    Hannah, when you shop your stash do you allow yourself to continue to use other products from your collection or do you stick strictly to what you shopped? Every time I shop my stash, I find myself reaching for other items after two or three days because my desires have shifted.

    • @HannahLouisePoston
      @HannahLouisePoston  5 років тому

      I definitely allow myself to use other things! I try to default to the things I shopped for, but I don't use them if I don't feel like it. I'd say I end up using them about 1/3 of the time during the month.

    I love your shop my stash videos, those along with your lipstick declutters are the ones i always find time to watch 😍 im still somewhere in your oct 2018 videos chronologically, savouring them slowly. I must saw you have compelled me to declutter 10 lip products and wanting to declutter even more! I just need to admit im not fond of the mauvey grey shade that was so popular and let go of the em cosmetics rose nude shade...i need to admit that i dont like washed out looks (lighter and brown nudes) and only like the rosy shades that give life to my face.
    I actually have unexpected too but ive hardly used because of how blue it is, time to try it on top of a rusty/reddy base

    • @lipsticklover
      @lipsticklover 5 років тому

      Just decided to let go of another 4 more lipsticks including 2 by mac. I just need to tell myself that i only like rosy shades that are not bright nor too dull and nothing that leans too pink or too peach 😂😂 its ridiculous how basic neutral i am for lips yet somehow its my favourite category. You cant find me in a cherry or fire engine red but im good with dark brick reds for everyday. Yet somehow i have at least one for each variation of red =/

    Fluorescent pigments never show up on camera, I'm afraid. Even with really good cameras and light boxes and whatever, they always go pastel. Whatever it is that makes them so bright to the naked eye, cameras can't see it.

    I go at this moment through my whole lipcollection,by trying another lipcolour every day.I started with the lipcolours which are in pallets,and after that I am going to all my lipsticks,glosses,and liquid lipsticks,and lippaints.I hope that I can shrink my huge lipcollection by doing this,and the lipsticks I am not sure off the first time,I Will use them a second time,and than I Will Made up my mind.I never counted all my lipproducts but I think I own between 70-100 different ones.Lipsticks and eyeshadows are always my weakness.When I don’t want a lipcolour in a pallet,than I Will pop out that colour,and I Will do these colours in a magnetic pallet,so I can re home them.I started with these lipcolours because I never tried the colours which are in lippallets,or in facepallets,so I thought this would be a good first step.After the pallets I am gonna try my bulletlipsticks,and at last all my liquid colours/glosses and paints,I never organised my lipproducts on colour or glosses,or anything.But I hope that I can shrink my stash a little even if I find it hard to declutter or re home products,but I am aware that I never can finish this amount of lipproducts before they are going bad.Probably there are multiple lipproducts in my stash that allready went bad,and I hate to waist make-up products,but I think that it has now a priority because I am 16 months on a no buy with make-up,and in these months my amount of lipproducts even went higher,because when my friends go and declutter their make-up,they always bring it to me because I am always so enthousiastic about new products.But now I realized that if I never Will buy a new lipproduct,that I never can use my own stash up,if all products stayed good.But even lipsticks have a experation date,and I don’t realy care about those dates but I had a few lipsticks that smelled verry bad,and that’s realy the sign that the product went bad,and needed to be decluttered.But when I get rid of 1/3 of my collection,than I am a very happy person,because I know when I am now able to do such a huge declutter,that I can do such a huge declutter in the near future again.And when my collection is smaller than it would be much easier for me to know what my favorites are,and which products I like less,and than I need to do these products right away in a declutter box,so I can make friends happy with them.But right now I am bizzy with my first step,trying out every shade in pallets,I started two weeks ago(and when I realy own 100 lipproducts,than I am 3 1/2 months bizzy with the first step,but at least I am working on it,and it may sound very strange,but that was a huge step for me,and I already have three colours depotted in another magnetic pallet because I don’t like the colour on me.So the start is ther,only I still have a long way to go.But everybody needs his own way of decluttering,and needs their own time to feel good about it.Last year i tried to pick from each colour ten lipproducts that i wanted to keep,and i thought that i wanted to declutter all the rest,but that Made me feel so unhappy,but i do every three months a declutter,and i do from each catagory,every three months a little away,also from my lipproducts.I think that i do with every declutter my 5 oldest lipproducts away,that’s something i need to do from myself,and if i do my make-up,and i take a lipproduct that smells bad,or the consistensy has changed than I throw it immideatly away,those things I don’t find it hard to do.Only a huge declutter is difficult for me.But when I have decluttered all my lipproducts,I Will make swatches,and colours that look like another,then I Will keep only one of that colour,but I own now to many products to make swatches on colour,that Will be easier when I already get rid of a bunch of lipproducts,and than I can go work with swatches,consistensy,weartime,etc.I Will work on this project and at the end of the year I Will own between 30-35 lipproducts,that’s still a lot,but than I Will know what I own,and what I like,which brands I love,which colours look best at me,and I have the room to storage 35 lipsticks,and I Will probably enjoy this amount much more than the amount I own now,because I realy have no qlue,except for the ten lipproducts I always use,and are far used up.It sounds strange,for me this is one of my most difficult declutters,but I enjoy that I Made a start with it,and I enjoy even more,when this project is done,and I can fully enjoy the lipproducts that I choose,and I like best,and knowing the products I own.I did last year a huge declutter with all my make-up,except my lipproducts and my eyeshadowpallets,and afterwards that felt so amazing.Later that year I did a huge eyeshadowpalletdeclutter,and Made one pallet with shades that came out of pallets where the majority from those pallets were used up,so I Made one pallet from 25 other pallets,and I own now 18 eyeshadowpallets in total(with more than 9 colours),and a few duo’s and quads.So my only huge declutter that I still need to do are my lippies,and I know when that job is done,that I can fully enjoy my make-up stash,and I still go on with my no buy make-up,probably for a few years because I only replace a product when I totaly ran out of that catagory,and I Will end up with a normal amount of make-up,and I probably need Some rules for myself,how many eyeshadowpallets,and lipproducts I can own,to keep it all in hand in the future.But I realy never want to go back to 16 months ago,and the amount of make-up that I owned.All products that I decluttered and were still good I donate,and give Some to my friends,all products that weren’t good anymore,I threw away the product,but I recycled the packaging,and I Will do the same with my lipproducts,because also that gives a great feeling,donate,and make other people happy,and recycling the packaging from products that are not usable anymore..I also decluttered my nailpolishes last year,so when I look back,I have decluttered a whole lot last year.This year the last thing,and I am completely ready.All my make-up has now beautifull places,and I can take everything without searching.All things has his own spot(only my lipproducts are still in boxes),even the ten lipproducts that I almost use daily,but a few Will emptie soon.And than the next project Will be decluttering the bathroomcabbinets,mostly old hairproducts,and Some old moisterizer,and a few empty perfumes,that I still need to write down on my empty list from this year,and a few broken hairclips,hairelastics and bobbypins that I need to organize,and than I am fully found with all my beautydeclutter.After that I need a huge clothingdeclutter,because now I lay in bed for 22 hours,and sitting in a wheelchair,not every clothing is comfortable,so I need to get rid of many clothes that are not comfortable for me anymore,but my mom and a few friends have the same size,so I can donate whole my clothes to them.And that’s also the reason why all these declutters costs so much time for me,but that doesn’t matter,it get’s done,only in the speed that my body allows me to,xoxo wendy❤️

    How incredibly sad is it that someone would ask if you actually give stuff you say you are giving away. It's an atmosphere of assuming everyone is lying, here on UA-cam and social media. I think people have lost the ability to decipher when someone lies. Ive never even sensed Hannah was lying about anything, ever. It maybe a rarity, but there are people who do exactly what they say they doing or intend to do.

      I don't understand it either and it's been a huge surprise to me, too :( Also, why would I lie about something like that? Giving stuff away to friends is the greatest joy of having too much! And it's the #1 best part of getting PR!
