- In this video I challenge @benreadsgood to a booker Prize Longlist prediction battle. Whose method will reign supreme! (Probably Bens haha)
GOODREADS ELIGIBLE BOOKER PRIZE BOOKS LIST - / 188738.booker_prize_el...
ITS BOOKER SEASON BABYYYYYYYY 👏🎉
This video vs. Ben's video is the perfect example of chaotic evil vs. lawful good xD
This is fun! :) I'm just here to say I predicted 5 books in 2022 😎and 3 books in 2023. I haven't made my list this year, finding it hard to decide really.
Maybe this is how the judges pick the books???? You’ve cracked it!
@@NerdyNurseReads 😂
This was such a fun idea! IT'S BOOKER SEASON, BABY!
I think that all this enthusiasm for books on You Tube is great!
omg this is hilarious! I'm going to be so interested to see the results
Ooh, between Ben's spreadsheets, your wheel of fortune, and Charlotte's tarot cards... you've probably all gotten it completely wrong, but I'm here for all the prediction videos anyway. 😂 Btw, A Trace of Sun has a very unmemorable look, but it was actually on the Women's Prize longlist! As for Ordinary Human Failings, it came out a year ago, so surely that's not eligible. Which is a shame, because I am firmly in camp "should have been shortlisted".
This was fun but SIR YOU ARE GOING DOWN 🫨
It’s actually not a bad list to be fair! Although Goodreads might have done you dirty because I don’t think 2 of the picks are eligible (we can call that 1-0 to the spreadsheet 😉)
It’s Booker season baby!!
@@benreadsgood DAMN YOU GOODREADS!!
@@rororeads Sorry, that is my GR Listopia you used, and unfortunately, it was culled of ineligible books apparently right after you used it! People keep adding books in without vetting them to be sure they are eligible, so it's kind of impossible to keep up. Ordinary Human Failings was within last year's cut-off dates and Poor Deer has no UK publisher, so both ineligible! My apologies! :-(
@@douggordydon’t worry about it. Thanks for putting the list together in the first place! This was just a bit of fun so I don’t mind at all. Thanks for commenting :)
Loved the prediction method hahaha hoping to see some titles nominated 🤞🏼
That was fun. Listening to the book descriptions reinforces my thinking that unresearched autofiction has saturated the book world. That and fantasy.
Loved this! As someone that has spent way too much trying to narrow my list down, your approach is very tempting.
That was a lot of fun, lol. Goes to show how random it could be, you actually might do pretty well here. Two women's prize longlisted books that I've already dnf (probably good books, just didn't suit my mood at the time). Two others on my library TBR, who knows if I'll actually get to them (Private Rites and The Fertile Earth). I've read a lot of Evie Wylds writing, she's done very well in Australian Prizes with her previous works. Happy Reading 😀
Oh Praiseworthy by Alexis Wright is the only one I'm really keen to be on the list.
I listened to this video in the car earlier and was laughing so hard. Got some side eye from grumpy lorry drivers, but so worth it. Brilliant 👏
@@GemofBooks Hahaha! Totally been there before.
Those lorry drivers just don’t understand the brevity of Booker prediction videos! Glad you enjoyed xx
These prediction lists are possibly more fun than the actual reveal.
I have read exactly zero of these books but I have Absolution, Private Rites and Ordinary Human Failings on my TBR for what it's worth (not much!). This was great!
Love how you and Ben both put a different spin on the usual Booker predictions video format this year! 😍
😂your cheerful emphatic HELLO makes me happy❤ Love you
Love the random method! I was asked to be in a golf pool for the Masters a few years ago by a work colleague. Knowing nothing about golf, I chose the golfers with the craziest names, placed 3rd, won some money and pissed off a bunch of men I work with. Success! Haha
I’ve read two of the books you picked at random, Absolution and Ordinary Human Failings. Neither would be a favourite read of the year but they were really enjoyable reads just the same!
Even more excited to see the Longlist now, in pure anticipation of any of these being on there 😂
I wouldn’t be mad at that selection. The Echoes is on my highly anticipated radar and I also loved Ordinary Human Failings. Happy booker season!
I think Kevin Barry, Megan Dolan and Alice McDermott actually have a solid chance to make the cut. 3/13 isn’t bad at all!
I have yet to watch Ben's video, but I would actually put money on your system, only because I rarely seen rhyme or reason in some of these lists!
I would not be surprised if this is actually the way the judges choose the longlist 😂😂
OK. I've voted on Goodreads and just chosen ones I have read. Just as random as a random machine!
In a year when Rushdie, Atwood, Ishiguru or Coetzee have published, you'd be guaranteed to accurately predict at least one. 😊
This was very fun! 😂
It is a random approach but I guess the alternative is monkeys sticking pins on a list. Bring on Booker season!!
Hahahaha, How exciting! It's on now.
Fun video!👍🏼👍🏼
Booker meet Bingo Hall with Roro!
Amma by Saraid de Silva - I urge you to read this, easily a 5 * read
Booker Babyyyyyyy ❤
Bob the Bookerer got 5 one year.
Also, agree a fun video 😊
Love this! This would be my preferred method! Hate a spreadsheet and I know nothing about Tarot Cards.
I can’t wait to see how many you get correct 🎡
I think I need the spinner for my tbr
I managed to predict 5 on the 2022 International Booker on my blog - does that count 🤓
@@thebobsphere7553 it counts!
Can't wait to see how many books you each guess correctly 😂
Have you ever considered a career as an auctioneer? I think you would be brilliant. 😂

Fun video! 😊
