Madan Mohan ji is my all time favourite music director. His tunes had magic in them. His "Lag ja gale" created in 1964, has become extremely popular in recent years , it has 268 million views on You Tube. When Lata ji passed away all Pakistani channels paying tribute to her played "Lag ja gale" right in the beginning .You are right in saying that the films with his music did not achieve success. According to his son Sanjeev Kohli , "Woh Kaun Thi'' and "Mera Saaya" were his only universal hits. But even if his other films were not successful his songs gained cult status. Madan ji will always remain immortal.

Madan Mohan's film music might not be commercial hits at that time & although he was not worked for big filmmakers but he worked wholeheartedly for whatever film he had & the result was that still his music still fresh and live. He is the King of Melody of Hindi film industry & will remain.

Madan mohan was a great person. He was wonderfully handsome. He was like his music and charming. His music was lovely and attractive. I like all his songs. Similarly the poets like Raja Mehandi Ali Khan and Kaifi Azami, Jaanisar Akhtar were marvellous who composed touching lyrics to satisfy people like us music lovers. They were all angels to teach us what is music. I was wonderstruck when I first saw his image on mobile phone. He had to be a hero in films. Such graceful face he had. I heard in any episode on him that he had better job in Indian army. For he was so fond of music that he left the permanent job and became a musician in films. He devoted his life for music and composed musical songs for us. Great salute to this magician of music.☺☺☺
Very sad to know that such a great music composer was so underrated. But his music will always be remembered with fond memories. It is sad that a great artist doesn't get his due when he is alive. Though he is remembered with great music but sadly not so much when he was alive. But he was successful in the late 50s to early 70s. His legacy will always live on.

He is remembered for the immortal ghazal he composed for films..The late fifties, sixties and the early seventies were the most productive period of Madam Mohan.
