    Another saving tip I use is, when I buy a treat or something I really want, I force myself to buy it and then transfer the same amount to my savings😂😂 If I can't afford to do that then I don't need the treat. So its like a double treat because you get what you want and you're rewarding yourself in the future with money in the bank lol :') Can't wait to move out, fingers crossed this year is the one for us 💞💞💞

    Thank you for being so real and open about having the ups and downs within your relationship due to the move. It would be so misleading to tell people that it's all a bunch of roses - it doesn't mean you don't love each other, it's an adjustment and you will find your rhythm. Unfortunately people will hear the word "bickering" and will assume your relationship is doomed because most influencers wouldn't be so honest about this - the relationship equivalent of the 'beauty standard'. Keep paving the way girlyyy🙌🏻

    Don’t worry about having a small social circle. You just havnt met enough like minded successful women yet. Speaking from experience having a business and being self employed in my 20s can really single you out from your typical friends but you will meet new people eventually and it will be lovely. It was proper sobbing crying. It was just knowing that my parents and siblings werent just chilling downstairs or that I was going to see them in the morning. Also the only reason people always say it's more 'complicated' for people that are self-employed to get a mortgage is because (and there is no nicer way of putting this lol I am just being transparent, everyone who is self-employed does this), but they like Jordan said, set up a limited company and pay themselves a salary. This is to avoid being in the highest tax bracket. They will pay themselves a salary that usually puts them in the lowest tax bracket. So then when applying for a mortgage, banks are reluctant to believe that you have as much as you say you do, because you're only legally being paid (by yourself lol) £30k for example. So even though they're earning 6 figures (or more) per year, they 'technically' only earn £30k (for example) because that's how much they pay themselves in order to avoid paying maximum tax on the actual amount earned.

    Love this!!! I am manifesting this for myself. Having a house is the top goal on my list. I had savings before I started uni but I’ve disciplined myself that every time I get my student loan and my rent has gone out for my accommodation, I look at how much I need to survive on and then how much I can put in my savings straight away. I also have a part time job and look how much of that I can put away. I’ve more than doubled my savings and have a goal that I want to achieve by the end of the year which I can use for my deposit and furniture. Then in September I’m starting my teacher training and I’m incredibly lucky that my dad is letting me stay at his so I don’t have to pay out on rent and I can continue to save and then hoping to get a teaching job by next September. I want to have a house in the next 2-3 years 🏠

It can be a little frustrating seeing people buying houses like this younger as I’ve worked my arse off since I was 16 and don’t earn a massive amount but that is the industry I work in, at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what size house you have aslong as you’ve worked hard to earn it, so well done to you guys! 😀

    This was super interesting. We are currently starting the moving process, we've just had mortgage in principle agreed.
    You're so right, the more you look at, the better. There's things I didn't think would bother me, that I've seen in houses that I ended up hating, and vice versa. We'd like a project house (my partner is a builder) but I think for our first house, we just want to move in and enjoy it straight away. Maybe in around ten years we'll sell our first house and get a dooer upper. You've done SO good to get this house at your age! You're so right you'll save for what you want. A family home (we have two kids) is the most important thing for us, over so many other things. Thanks for this vid 🙂

    I think it's also good to know what not all mortgage brokers/advisors only take their fee when you get the keys. A lot of them take the fee when your application is submitted (whether it be a full fee or 50% of the fee and then the other 50% when exchanged/completed). Some brokers don't take a fee from the buyer at all and are only get paid by the mortgage provider. So it's also good to 'shop' around the brokers.

    Never buy leasehold. Always buy freehold. And if you can afford a little extra each month use it to pay off your mortgage. You must try to be mortgage free by 25. I've been mortgage free 35y. Don't waste your money on shit. Buy another house and rent it out for a income.i have 3. Good luck guys.

    I’m confused, does Jordan own this house on her own or have they got a joint mortgage?

    • @meganjames136
      @meganjames136 3 роки тому +52

      I would assume Jordan brought the house and everything is in her name legally and Jake just contributes to bills. Financially for an unmarried couple its easier for one person to own the house and go through the process. Married couples are seen as a more “stable” investment towards banks/brokers because they’re relationship is more secure than a bf/gf status. When you’re married you’re seen as a pair (everything’s joint) where as a bf & gf are assessed separately and the process is more challenging.

    • @amywilson5654
      @amywilson5654 3 роки тому +14

      @@meganjames136 you can have what's called a tenancy in common where each person had a share in the property. That could be 50/50 or any other percentage. It doesnt matter about being married or not, your legally bound. A married couple are more likely to have a joint tenancy and the difference is survivorship....if one dies the other inherits the whole house, where as tenancy in common the person who dies..their share goes to their estate.

      @@meganjames136 financially for me it would be stupid to buy a home on my own (mortgaged) because I can’t borrow as much as I’d be able to if I was doing a joint mortgage with my partner? We aren’t assessed separately we are going through the process now and we are being seen as one entity, totally our annual income as one. So not sure where you got the idea in this day and age that being married makes you financially better off?

    I find listening to your story so strange! I’m 20 and live with my partner. First time buyers, he had rented a few places for a few years before hand but had moved each year after his rent was up!
    I was a manager at a local store working for benefit cosmetics. And when we went to a mortgage broker she instantly turned a blind eye, throwing excuses as ‘I was too young’ ‘not in my job long enough’ ‘he had moved around to much’ all baring in mind that my sister brought her house via the same company, when she was 19.
    I came out literally a wreck crying, and she told me to come back in 3 years, which wasn’t going to happen. We had our deposit for the house we wanted, and all the money saved.
    We pretty much gave up and after 3 months of milking around being fed up we went to nationwide, honestly the best people ever helped me and we brought our first home with no help to buy, with a 25% deposit and moved in within 3 months of finding out dream home.
    We moved in the first week of lockdown 1, so found it incredibly hard. With him still working but me being out on furlough, I’m the youngest of 4 and moving from a household full of people to living alone pretty much hit me like a brick! I struggled so much!

      I’m so scared of going to anyone and ask for money 😩 like because I’m 24, average house price in my area is about 400/450k and it’s just becoming ridiculous at this point when all I can borrow on my salary is about 100k 😑😩

    • @emilyboycott8075
      @emilyboycott8075 3 роки тому

      I honestly had no thought about buying a house, I met my partner & we literally lived together from the get home! Don’t get me wrong my wage was awful! I was bringing in about £15k a year. And he had a great wage, if it was just me going to get a mortgage they would of laughed in my face with no savings etc etc.
      But I hammered down and got a part time job & did everything for money. And after 6 months I got my savings. I got our deposit we went 50/50 with everything.
      We opened a joint account and worked out that bills including mortgage would be £1k a month so every month we both put in £500. Even before we brought. It was our ‘comfort’ blanket. And I’m glad we did because the house we brought well in short terms fell apart on us!
      Do all the research you can and if at first someone says no, go look elsewhere for someone.
      Like jord says; the bank turned her down but brokers took her. It was the other way round.
      People that don’t earn a lot, find banks easier, nationwide, NatWest etc etc because we are safer for them. But I do say, buy smaller. We have a two bed, and don’t get me wrong I would of loved a three bed minimum but we couldn’t be comfortable in the long run. We now pay £399 on a mortgage alone and still have funds to go away on holidays when we can, get takeaways and spend money. That was our biggest thing, we still wanted our own lives spending money without being tight and not being able to do the things we wanted before buying a house xx

      Yeah we’ve given ourselves until September to sort a deposit and get out, especially not being together through these national lockdowns is just horrible ☹️ we have been together 5 years in September so 🤞🏼 we can be out by then!
      That’s what I am doing, looking at 3 beds but realistically a 2 bed and still cacking myself at the 400k price tag 😂 darn South East of England!
      Are you married? If not how easy is it to get a joint account and again do they belittle you etc for doing it?
      I just don’t want to be looked down on and made to feel small just because I want to become and adult 🙄

I managed to achieve my three life goals within a year of 2019 and I feel so blessed but its also because that was where I made sure my money was going to. Sure treat yourself every now and then, live life, but in the back of your mind remember - "oh, do I need that bag or can I save this money for my house deposit?"
