Thank you Susan and great observation on the circular motions! I should have called that out in the video, I think it helped apply more evenly with less streaks. Hope you are off to a great week Susan☺️
@@MelbaMakes yes it’s the best way to clean that big boy lol. I hope you have had a wonderful start to your week and have a great week darling 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The sofa definitely looks better! My tennis elbow was aching watching you wipe, wipe, wipe! 😂 My son has a leather sofa too, I’m going to tell him about the products you used. However, his sofa isn’t real dry. By the way, I know your channel is about saving money on household items, but you always dress so cute, you could add “style” advice too! 😉
haha I definitely got a workout! In my research I read that even new leather would benefit from be conditioned to prevent it from getting dry and keeping it flexible, I wish I had known this sooner because I think this sofa would look a lot better had I conditioned it at least annually. Hope your son enjoys his leather sofa and thank you for the compliment Susan! 😊
Thank you for reviewing our leather cleaner and leather conditioner! You did a great job and I think this video will be helpful to many of our customers! One additional tip - I actually think you could have used even more of the product. It sounded and looked like the leather was extremely dry and your applications of the conditioner were being throughly absorbed into the leather. Therefore, I think you could apply even more product. But it looks good for now and perhaps you can try this the next time you condition it! Thanks again!
This was useful as my leather sofa badly needs conditioning and the leather looks very similar to yours. I will research some other products though because my sofa is pretty scuffed up. If you decide to dye yours, would love to see that. Thanks Melba.
Good luck Sarah and please share with us how whatever you try works out! Some alternative recommendations have been made here in the comments if that helps! Will do on the dye video idea 🙌🏽 I’m glad the video was helpful, thanks for your comment Sarah!
I use saddle soap to clean my husband's leather chair. Fortivo recoloring balm is an excellent product to cover scratches. Your couch will look almost new. Once applied, it doesn't rub off. I did use a leather crean, to restore the luster. The couch looks so much better.
Thank you for your suggestions! I saw saddle soap was popular and will look into Fortivo coloring balm! Are there any other alternatives you tried in the past and did not like? Thanks again! 😊🙌🏽
@@MelbaMakes I have only used Fortivo in medium brown. It comes with a sponge applicator. The leather grabs the balm. It's not a bad thing. It doesn't slide like appling shoe polish. I buffed & let it dry 24 hours. There was no transfer of color. The chair looked a little flat, so I use leather cream to add shine. You will most likely need 2 container the color balm.
Your sofa looks wonderful! I don't mind scratches as it's well loved. Your poor arm! When you said a third coat, I could hear your muscles protesting, lol! I use saddle soap and a conditioning cream. I've also used mild soap and water for ginger ale spilled and dried before I noticed it. I assume it was the grands' ginger ale. I lightly scrubbed, rinsed, and dried the area. Then, I applied the conditioning cream. It looks good as new. I agree with the comment about your wardrobe. You always look so cute and put together. Have a great week! Linda 🦋
Thank you Linda and thank you for sharing what you use on your leather! It sounds like the grandbabies and entire family enjoy your sofa 😊 thank you for the compliment ☺️ I hope you are having a great week too Linda! 💕
Ugh, I have the Sven and all my dog has to do is look at the couch and it gets scratched up. This sounds like a great option because so many leather conditioners seem pretty toxic.
My dog literally ran and jumped on the sofa the night before I filmed the end result after 48 hours and put THE biggest scratch right in the middle seat cushion where I don’t normally put pillows lol. From what I could find Leather honey doesn’t publish their ingredients list but they say all the ingredients are non-toxic for what that’s worth, it didn’t have any strong odors but def look into it (their FAQ page has a lot of info). Hope you and pup continue to enjoy your Article Sven, a lovely sofa!
My parents had a leather sofa for years and definitely had the leather sagging on the back so bad that you had to tuck it in behind the seat cushions. Leather stretches.
Not trying to stalk but what state do you live in? I have never seen people give away good stuff like this except in FL and unfortunately I live in OK where most people put JUNK online, I am talking broken with holes and asking for like $1k...just mind-boggling to me. lol Thank you!
Hi Melba, would you say this a comfy couch? My husband needs a sofa for his office where he can lounge and play video games all day and I've considered the rawhide sofa. I love the worn leather! You can definitely tell a difference.
It’s super comfortable! I will say it’s a sofa more for lounging with the deeper seat cushions than say a sitting conversation sofa since their is less back support if you plan to sit upright unless you have a lot of throw pillows. If I could go back in time and had this sofa since it was new. I would definitely condition it at least every year even when it’s new since I read it helps prevent cracking. Let us know what you go with! 😊
How was the couch held up in quality? Is it broken or sagging in any sections of the couch? I want to buy this couch online but some reviews state after about 2 years couch broke and is sagging in the center of the seating area. Anyone else have a review for longevity or hold up of this couch?
I've used leather honey on shoes and it works really well on scratches and scuffs. I think I would be using more per square inch on my shoes than you used on your couch. So I am wondering how quantity (dosage) has an impact. How much of the bottles did you have left?
I have a 16 year old leather sofa - very similar color and type of leather as yours, so I appreciate this video. The very nature of leather is that it will show wear, scratches, soil marks, etc. Mine has my grandkids tears, and everything else and it definitely needs a good conditioning. My concern was that it would significantly darken the sofa, but I guess that will automatically happen in certain areas (such as ends of arms, etc.) anyway, so I might as well go for it!
You can do a little test patch somewhere less visible first to see how you feel about potential color change! I hope you continue to enjoy your leather sofa for more years to come, thank you for sharing and great to hear from you! 🤗
Good see youg people recycling ♻️ old furniture wood and leather can always look good if you now how to restore and better made then crape they back to day 😀
Your sofa looks great. I know the dowside with leather is that it can discolor easily. However, I still love leather sofas. It's far easier to maintain, easier to clean up spills, and it is odour-free. I've had the same sofas for almost 10 years, and they're still in great condition. Every now and then, we'll use leather wipes to keep it in top condition. All my sitting furniture , including the dining chairs, other chairs, ottomans, entry bench, and even all the bed frames, are made of dark leather, along with our car seats, for the same reason. Since I'm used to only having leather at my place, I can never go back to fabric. It's quite a downgrade.
I just did my couch with this. I don't agree about the saturation of the rag. You didn't use near enough Leather Honey or use enough arm strong. It will turn the leather very dark and hide the scratches, if you massage it in, not just wipe it like a kitchen counter. It does lighten up later.
question. I used this conditioner just now on a more camel color leather and it left really dark marks. Will they go away? Is there a fix??? NEED HELP!! @melba
I had areas that looked darker/splotchy and it looked mostly even after 24 hours but it is a darker couch so I can’t speak to a lighter sofa. From my experience it lightened over time!
Thank you for watching and I hope this was a helpful video! 🙋🏽♀️🛋️ please share your favorite leather products and leather care tips below! 👇🏽

Blackrock is the best thing for that. It hides scratches amazingly well & conditions it well also.

@@MelbaMakes there is a UA-cam channel TrentonHeath. They do shoe restoration. You might pick up some leather restoration tips.
Thank you for all the tips and suggestions, and it’s great to know that you didn’t experience any color transfer with Fortivo!

Did you happen to find a better cleaner/conditioner? I just bought a 1960s leather club chair and it’s dry to the bone.
Looks better

Recommend microwaving conditioner for 10 seconds to improve application.

Using circular motions, both clockwise and counter-clockwise, fills multi-directional scratches.

I ended up using about half of the 8 oz bottle of conditioner! I only used about a quarter or less of the cleaner
Didn't it say that you could warm it up to make application easier. Seems like that would help.
This Really helped me. Thanks.💯

Leather sofas look so nice when you buy it brand new and overtime it just looks so depressing 😢
