Gorgeous! They both did so well! The dancer en pointe has incredible balance. Love to see the celebration of ballet's diverse community :)

I'd love to hear them talk about their prep for this. I wonder how it was to transition from partner to being partnered?

I'm not sure if they answer this exact question, but if you head over to ballet22.com there is lots of media about the company!

I'm a classically trained ballerina and this is not ballet. A pas de duex is done between a male and female dancer, not two men or two wemen. It is no longer a pas de duex if either of those is taking place. Words have meaning.

Exactly, you can’t go from partner to being partnered. It’s so.. untraditional. Some may argue that times are changing but there is beauty in tradition, a pas de due x is a dance between a male and FEMALE dancer.

I'm also a classically trained professional dancer and i do speak French. A pas de DEUX (and not duex) literally means "a dance for two". There is no mention whatsoever of the sex of the dancers. I agree that the classical pas de deux of the répertoire of the 19th century are traditionally danced by a man a woman. But same sex pas de deux have been here for decades. One cannot say that "les chants du compagnon errant" choreographed by Bejart for Nyreyev and Bortoluzzi in the 70s aren't part of the répertoire. And before the 19th century, I remember reading that male parts in the ballet were sometimes danced by women, ergo ps de deux were danced by two women.
