Hi Cliff, it's always nice to see these furnaces being restored or at least in arrested decay.
Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💜

This is an interesting furnace. It's different than others we've seen. Thank you for taking folks to see it.

I just want to thank you for the videos that you share with everyone. I grew up in the more northern states where the hills are just like the ones you explore in PA. As someone who is stationed away from home and hours away from gorgeous hill-terrain, your exploration videos have given me a taste of what it feels like to be home, which I savor during the times I can’t be there. Most of all, I enjoy your down to earth enjoyment and love for history as well as nature. Thank you again for sharing with us!

My husband and I stopped there on our way to lunch last September 2022. I didn’t want to get out of the car because I was hungry but begrudgingly accompanied my husband for a “quick look see” however I did mention that maybe we could wait to see if the Wandering Woodsman had a video and now here we have it.

Thanks again Cliff, for a great video. That metal plate was used to keep the metal rod that was used to keep the walls from buckling. There is a plate on the back walls too hold the other end of the rod. Also notice the metal pin through the rod to keep the rod from moving. Rods are used a lot in old buildings to keep the walls from collapsing. The ends usually have some kind of ornate plates on the ends, eagles and stars are very common. During a fire the rods get hot and melt and the walls will collapse.

Yeah man, there's runnin' water in that hole. I was there a few months back and there was caution tape around the entrance too at the time, red tape. My kids told me that the sign talks about that chimney thing on top of the furnace.
By the by, this is my favourite furnace in my home county. It's just the most unique furnace.

There used to be the remains of a small house across the street from it right next to the creek.

This furnace is an oldie... and the Iron Master's house is allegedly haunted. RE: 'Running Into History" UA-cam channel. There's ruins of a 'flint mill' across the road, along the creek, also. And then there's the nefarious 'Toad Road'. , . . , . ,

that thing on the top was likely used to heat the blast air. They may have tried to use Anthracite coal in the later days. You needed a hot blast for that to work. Great video as always!

That brick structure on the top looks very precarious! Interesting spot though. 👍

I wonder if the add on top of the furnace was for heating water that might have been used in the ruins you found behind the furnace. Just a thought...

Very cool Cliff, different then others but the others looked safer in respect to this one. The brickwork addition sitting on top looks like an accident waiting to happen. So I looked and there on the side panel was your video of this place 3 years ago so I'm off to the past.😀

The Iron Master’s house is right down the road and is for sale. I looked at the listing and it was built around 1754 but it hasn’t been lived in by anyone in a very long time. It comes with 20 acres and everything is overgrown. It is a terrible site and a real shame.
