Perhaps it is a better approach to import the rendered images as smart objects (file - place) and then use vanishing point to match the perspective view. That would probably be less destructive on the jpeg file and yield a higher quality end result.
the tree I used was already cut out before I brought it in to photoshop. I just googled "cutout trees" and found one that looks similar to the existing trees in my scene. To create the shadow I simply copied the layer - then went to the hue / saturation controls under Image > Adjustments and changed the lightness to black. I then lowered the opacity to about 40%

If you allow me an advice, background left side of the picture, is off. Cut the pic just at the trees. Like your tuts!!!!
