- A complete playthrough of Interplay's 1995 PC Dos interactive movie, Kingdom: The Far Reaches.
An awesome FMV game if there ever was one. The PC version is a good version of the original LaserDisc game Thayer's Quest (and is all but identical to the 3DO port), even though the video quality doesn't measure up to the arcade version, nor does it the CD-I version with huge benefits conferred by the required MPEG decoder cart.
The animation is fun in that somewhat simplistic 80's Saturday morning cartoon kind of way, and the soundtrack is beast. The controls are incredibly simple, and it's a lot of fun if you aren't averse to the trial-and-error style gameplay.
Despite there being less than an hour of video on disc, this game can take quite awhile to master.

I appreciate you so much for this upload. Seriously. I've been looking for this game for YEARS. I had it on my PC as a kid, and I never remembered the name of it. Now it's here on UA-cam. So I get to see how it ends, FINALLY. After like..a decade and a half. I'm so happy haha
This game was originally called Thayer's Quest. They changed the title and some character names because the game designer thought the names are too "70's". The sequel "Kingdom 2 , Shadoan" completes the story, you should check that out if you want to see the end of the series.

That chant has been an earworm I've never been able to get rid of since I never could remember the origin.
Does this game seriously have a trailer for its own sequel as a part of its main storyline? The audacity.
I had this game on CDI, I remember this game having so much trial and error and of course cryptic message. I was able to completed it eventually after years of trying. I'm hoping that this game is available as a digital download.
You can find this version and the 3do ones pretty easily online. I'm not sure about the others. I have it on CDi, I've been thinking about doing it or shadoan

it was a nightmare for me playing this game. I was poor boy and all my friends are rich or at least they have money to buy new things. I was begging my parents to buy 3DO for me and they refused for years. and in the end they agreed on the last days of 3DO's life and I bought it with this game. on the day I bought it, the Playstation 1 released and all my friends bought it. it was as you know a huge jump in graphics and gameplays. they had so much fun (my friends) and I was stuck with this bad ugly console (3DO), I cant even ask my parents for Playstation because they would kill me because I just bought the 3DO. I stuck with it for 6 years with no new game released for it and my friends are having a huge amount of joy. until my big sister got a job and had sympathy of me and she bought the Playstation for me. so, when I remember these days, I feel like vomiting and I hope these days removed from my memory. after the Playstation 1 I went to the university and start to get salary, from that day, I begun to purchase consoles for myself, and now I'm a teacher and the chief of History Department in highschool and I have so much money thanks to God. and I have 4 children and I bought Playstation 5 for all of them and yesterday I bought Xbox Series X for them to let them live the opposite life I lived.
My friend, that is such a tragic story. My story is close to yours. I wanted a 3DO so bad, but was too poor. My friends bought a PS1 at launch, but I couldn't afford one. One day, shortly after the PS1 launch, at the end of 3DO life, I walked into a Software Etc. and they had a sealed 3DO up on the wall. I asked the clerk how much it was (my dream of owning a 3DO had not died). He said "What, that!? I can't get rid of that thing. Tell you what, I'll sell it to you for... $99" I couldn't believe it! Of course I said yes. He then said, "Since you're buying my last 3DO, I'll throw this in for free." From under the counter he pulled a binder filled with 3DO game discs, and then stacked an extra controller on top! Me and my friend spent the whole weekend trying out games on my crisp, new, minty fresh 3DO FZ-10. Kingdom: The far reaches was one of them. Where my story differs from yours though, is that I fell in love with the 3DO. It had so many amazing games that just weren't possible on SNES or Genesis, which was all I had up to that point. Games like Gex, Road Rash, Escape from Monster Manor, Alone in the Dark, Myst, Bust a Move, Need For Speed, Twisted, Wing Commander 3, Samurai Showdown, Super Street Fighter 2 and on and on. 3DO became my favorite game console. The first one I ever bought with my own money. Later, (much later) I would come within 9 titles of collecting the entire U.S. library of games. While later, I would go on to love my Playstation, N64, Dreamcast, GameCube and on, the 3DO remains 1st in my heart, and probably always will.

Why the names are changed?
I think you can find the reason online. Apparently, many of the sames sounded too much like they were from a 70's cartoon. As if that was a bad thing.

Afinal, foi nessa altura que apareceram cenas como South Park, Mortal Kombat, Postal 1, Pulp Fiction ouvi dizer, e Shadow o Ouriço... que, ironicamente, até teve uma boa caracterização nos primeiros jogos em que apareceu e em algumas bandas desenhadas na altura... enquanto que hoje ele está mais para os lados de um Edgy McEdgelord.

They ran outa money to make the 2 laser player disc. It cost a fortune to build the game with a built in keyboard, was decked out. this version has a lot of incorrect names of some of the characters. Voice acting is very different from my Arcade version player. ,--- they seem to add a few extra movie actions. yet they left the game unfinished :(

How do people play this game on modern computer? Is there compatibility mode or something?
