I agree. This painting is different but amazingly beautiful. You are developing, I think. That's why you say you don't know where you're going. You're growing as an artist.
Ha...I have said I don't know where I'm going for many years and with just about every painting. But, it's really just part of my intuitive painting process. I'm moving forward with blinders on sometimes. When I don't know where I'm headed, it can be a little uneasy at times. But, super pleased with the way it ended!
As always Betty, you are a kind and generous teacher. I learn so much watching and listening to you. I see subtle changes to your style and it’s wonderful to see you experiment with your colours.
I really liked the beginning of this painting before you painted over it. It felt to me as if it was nearly finished - a bit more subtle maybe - but I liked it anyway.

Thanks, Betty! I put this on for inspiration and discovered that I like your idea of listening to someone talking while painting! I enjoy watching your process ……the way you start very loose with no plans enjoying the random surprises that evolve, then the push and pull part when you focus more to make decisions and create beautiful vibrant artwork. I love listening to music and dancing around too when I paint abstract art …..but I will try the podcast thing too as it may free up the right brain more and get me out of the way of myself! Thank you for you very generous videos😊

Such a beautiful piece! Thanks for the video!!! You are very generous to share your thoughts and the processes you use to power through to the end of a painting.
First time I've seen you working. Love how you put shades / tones of the one colour on top of each other - gives a pleasing richness - to my eye. I'd love to work and get the canvas you have - I'd go further if I was lucky / talented enough to get to this stage - by taking various thicknesses and colours of sharpies and outline some bits, and / or put further marks on it with those sharpies Just love your work - you are an inspiration.

@@BettyFranksArt there are a lot of videos where you still see her, but yes, most of the recently posted videos are animated. Might as well just swim in the ocean of positivity while floating in the bliss of painting. 💖🥰💖🧘💖🎨💖🤗💖
Thank you for your inspiring videos. I love how my eyes are constantly moving around the paintings, and then they move around again. Love the layers and the colors- so much depth!
Thank you so much, Janie! So happy you like the painting and the video!
Your process is mesmerizing
I'm so happy you watched the video, Amy! Thanks!
Love the idea of connecting with the canvas with the mark making.
Yes! Me, too. I love starting each painting that way. Thanks for watching, Samantha!
I really love this peace, Betty. It came together beautifully and I always love you showing the details in the end. 🍎☀️
Glad you like the close up pics, Kristina! Thanks for watching!
Love this and all your tips, thank you! I realised I can 'trick' myself into painting if I listen to an inspiring podcast, so good!
So cool! I love hearing that! Podcasts are great for keeping our minds busy so that we can let our creative juices take over!
Second of your vids in 24 hours. Firstly, i love your style. I really want to develop mine like this. 2nd... i loved the early stage... and then all the black came back. 3rd. I totally immerse myself in audiobooks when i paint. I truly love your process. Thank you.
Thank you kindly, Emannuel!
Haven't finished watching this yet. I really liked this painting at the 16min. through about 20min. So interesting the creator's point of view vs. the viewers. As always I like the finished work I saw at the beginning of the video. Okay going back to watching the video. Getting stuck I know too well.
Glad you enjoyed the beginning! As the artist, I have to do what I feel is coming from my heart and soul. That first painting wasn't it!
hi Betty, just love your work so much, me and my friend , are enjoying your videos; we both are artists and always looking for new inspirations! thanks for sharing your art!! ;)
Wonderful! It's so fun to have someone who loves creating. Thank you both for watching my videos!
Thank you for the video. I listen to you when I paint or music. I like the way you go through the thought process instead of just adding paint and giving a brief explanation
You are so welcome, Matthew! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I love watching your process of choosing colors. This one is definately one of my favorites.
Thank you so much, Christine! I think this one really shows my love for color!
Thank you so much for sharing your whole process, including where you decide to change direction entirely. Love your work.
Thanks, Liz! Yes, I took a bit of a u-turn, right? That happens! I was super pleased with the end result!
Glad you enjoy it, Nadia! Yes, give the podcast thing a try and let me know how it goes. Sounds like you know how to have fun in the studio!
It’s such a pleasure to follow you in your paintingprocess. I could easily follow you for hours so thank you for sharing it!!!!
Awe...thanks so much, Christina! Makes me super happy to hear that!
Thanks, the time is right for me as I watch videos as I paint. I like your paintings.

P.S. Love the flowers on the stool in your working space.
Thank you! 😊 One of the other artists in the building brought those over for me. I think they were already drying out during the video taping, but I still loved them and kept them!
Enough...it is already done ❤Gabby
Hahaha....well, I was eventually done!
This has to be one of your best paintings Betty ♥️♥️♥️

You're very welcome, Karla! Glad you enjoyed it!
Such a beautiful piece! Thanks for the video!!! You are very generous to share your thoughts and the processes you use to power through to the end of a painting.
You are so welcome! Thanks so much for watching, Carolyn!
I love that painting Betty, the one with all the red♥️
Thanks, Linda! That's a fun one!
Love your work, and also adored the piece at 19:45 it looked beautiful from a distance anyway.
Thank you very much, Debbie! I looked okay (to me) at that point, but it just wasn't speaking to my heart!
Thank you so much, Jackie! It's a different journey for every artist. I love how you have your own ideas of what you'd like to do. I hope that you get a chance to create! Thanks for finding me and my art channel!
I think it looks so cool great! Colors!
Thanks!
Hallo !
Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying my videos!
thanks betty, love your longer form videos :)
Glad you like them, Matt! I know some folks don't have lots of time to watch. However, the majority of my videos tend to be around an hour. I always appreciate everyone who sticks it out to the end!
Hey Betty - I've been watching your videos in the background while I work on other creative endeavors and I've really been enjoying them. I hope you keep 'em coming!
Wonderful! I'm so happy you're listening in while you create!
Your commentary is so helpful. Thank you 😊
Super happy to hear that, Anna! Thank you!
Hi Betty. Another demonstration of your amazing talent and generosity! This took me hours to watch because I slowed it right down so I could see every little bit of what you were doing! I too loved it at the very start when you added water to your charcoal stick - it was awesome! Love the end result though. So fab. Cheers, Deb T (NZ)
HI Deb! I bet it took hours to watch! Glad you were able to slow it down to the speed you wanted. Sending you sunshine from California!
WoW~That's great. I love your work !
Thank you very much! I appreciate you watching and commenting!

The rubbery scraper is called a catalyst wedge or contour.
Thank you! I can't seem to ever remember that. I appreciate you watching, Carol!
Hi Betty!! In many of your vids you mention listening to podcasts… I am having a hard time finding anything worth listening to~could you give me a suggestion or two? I would really appreciate it! This is coming along fabulously… as always ! Thanks for ALL you share with us!!! Happy creating! 👑✨
Love your process!
HI Robyn! I like listening to art-related podcasts such as: The Art Biz, Learn to Paint Podcast, The Left Brain Artist and also The Marie Forleo Podcast, Online Marketing Made Easy, The Goal Digger Podcast. And, Checks and Balance by the Economist, The NPR Politics Podcast. I'm sure there's something out there that interests you. I hope you enjoy some of these!
