Schneider Gelion is my favorite. For a needlepoint gel, the Monteverde extra fine gel is great. Caran d'Ache also makes Parker-style gel refills in 0.5 and 0.7. They are relatively expensive and the ink is basically like Kaweco or Monteverde.
Can confirm on the Monteverde’s, they do come in a fine and a super fine. Used the Monteverde p42 (6mm) for 4 refills and loved it. Recently ran out and looked for refills and stumbled on the Monteverde p41 superfine (5mm needlepoint) and I’d say it’s superior to the Ohto as far as needlepoints go.
How so? Would you say the p41/p42 writes better at “not quite vertical” angles?? I’m a .5 rollerball person usually, and I’m looking for something I won’t hate in a rotring 600.
Thank you for this video. I don’t use too many gel refills in my Parker style pens. I use the Parker Gel, Ohto Flash Dry, and EasyFlow9000 already. I’ve never tried Monteverde, but want to. Same with Gelion, it looks worth trying.
I use the ohto gel needlepoint in one of my Zebra FxMD, just needs to be trimmed to fit. And it's great writer very smooth.ohto also do a ballpoint version both available here in the UK. Great channel keep up the quality videos
Thanks for creating this refill review! Very useful. It's interesting about the ISO G2 standard. I believe it was based on Parker, as they were the most prolific at the time the standard was created. PILOT should not have called theirs G2. It's just not the same. Confusion! Btw, about the OHTO, I believe you're showing the PG-105NP. Do you know if the previous model of the same design was the PG-805NP?
maybe i'm just old but i've just never gotten on the gel ink bandwagon. i've been using easyflow 9000 in my Jotters for years and their own ink refills before that and i've never felt like they needed upgrading.
Gel ink pens have been a huge disappointment to me. 99% of them are unreliable junk that get thrown away. When you get an actual good one they can be very nice. Quality control seems to be the issue.
I have an unknown one, inside a pen with no branding that I found on a public path, it is plastic and completely white except for the metal tip, compressed into the plastic is YF0916.
I just had a new pack of Parker Gel Refills delivered to me via Amazon. Parker has made the new refills from plastic and not metal. Manufacturing of the refills have relocated from France to China. The plastic refills flex under load. I am at the moment hunting for new old stock Parker Gel refills , the metal ones or metal substitutes.
@@krzysztofwozny9742 this is specifically for the gel models. The quink ballpoint ink are still available in metal. I don’t think much longer though. If you want a gel like refill, their are options from Caran D Ache
I sometimes doodle and I found I like the most for that a Bic Cristal Original due to the fact that I can vary the width of the lines depending on the pressure I apply. Are there any parker style refills that write and feel like this?
My favorite has always been the Moleskin, I hate that you can't find them anymore. Since then I have been using the Monteverde, and recently tried out a brand called iungo that has been pretty good so far.
Have you come across a favorite ballpoint (non gel) Parker G2 style refill that is a PLASTIC body? I'm hoping to find one to upgrade my Zebra F-701. Thanks!
Since i started using fountain pens , i’ve come to realize how unreliable ballpoints and rollerballs are. They last longer without drying out if stored. However, after writing with one for a few weeks, the ink will fade even when the cartridge is 80% full. Come to think of it, I’ve never seen an ink cartridge get thrown out because it was totally out of ink. They just dry up and become unusable. I still need to look for a refill because cGMP customers insist on rollerballs.
The problem with many ballpoint inks is that over time they thicken... and that impacts flow. What's common is a clogging of the tip... which renders it unusable, while all of that usable ink sits behind it. I've not yet found a way to remove a tip, clean it, then put back to enjoy proper ink flow. However, some brands have created new formulations. The PILOT BRFN-30 is robust!
I bought Itoya Aquaroller awhile ago thinking it would be a gel, but it is basically a greasy ballpoint style ink. Is there an Itoya that is actually a proper gel?
@@waynegreen7634 ohto's got a really nice quick dry in the flash go. personally, I like their pens and inks. In this particular case, it's an even toss.
Yes that is easyflow 9000 I like softline refill from Schmidt which falls between easyflow9000 and a Parker quink ballpoint basically super soft and runs a little wide
Schneider makes some very good ink formulations, but they don't last. I don't know why. I've had ones sealed up and after a few years of just resting, even tip down, trying to use them yields a dead refill. I don't know if it's evaporation or a chemical breakdown. But I have pretty much ruled out that brand from now on.
Could've shortened the title to "Best Parker-Style Refills" lol... I love the Monteverde ceramic gel, the colors are so nice and bold and they're silky smooth. I'm honestly not a fan of the Easyflow... Once you tried gel I don't think you'd want to go back
It's disappointing that most of the Parker-style gel refills are lackluster. There are so many great pen bodies that accept Parker-style, but the refills leave a lot to be desired especially when compared to Japanese gel refills.
It upsets me that it's cheaper for me to get a 10-pack of schneider pens with gelion+ refills in them than just the refills. It just doesn't seem right to throw away pen bodies for a refill.
This is interesting to read. I bought a pack of Gelion+ in blue ahead of my CountyComm Embassy in Ultem arriving *because* Schneider describes them as “ISO format G2” (the Embassy ships with a Schmidt easyFLOW 9000 M in black, which I have not had good experiences with). Unfortunately, the Gelion+ tip is barely too large to fit the pen properly. I forced it and the tip was ripped from the cartridge when I removed it from the pen. :-(
Ive been using the Easy flow 9000 M for a long time now after watching one of your older videos and ive been enjoying it. I like how dark it is.
I really like the Schneider Gelion+ refills, finished mine in two days, absolutely no skipping up until the last drop of ink!
Schneider Gelion is my favorite. For a needlepoint gel, the Monteverde extra fine gel is great. Caran d'Ache also makes Parker-style gel refills in 0.5 and 0.7. They are relatively expensive and the ink is basically like Kaweco or Monteverde.
You are the best !
Wow thank you!
Great video! And perfect timing for me - exactly what I've been researching for the last few weeks.
Jetstream SXR600 and Ohto Flash Dry i got in my rr600 and 800 ballpoints respectively
Monteverde is great. I converted all my jotters to gel with different colors.

Monteverde's Blue/Black Ceramic gel in the g2 parker style looks great and writes smoothly. Edit: i I have the .6 its model is P42.
Monteverde has a Ceramic Gel pen in a needle tip. Only in black and I believe blue as well.

I have a grimsmo pen on the way so this really helps
Really good review, thanks 🙂
Awesome collection. Are they all same tip size ?
Great video… I use the gel parker, but was also curious about other brands.

I figured it out. I have an old dried out PG-805NP and the new PG-105NP I bought is the exact same refill.

The plastic refills haven't replaced the oldschool metal refills, they are a separate budget product line.

I would add the inoxcrom gel refill, a Spanish brand, which is perfect for these types of ballpoint pens
Thanks! Not common in the US but I’ll try to find some
Hello, what red, gel, and preferably needletip Parker-style G2 inserts do you know?
prefer Parker Gel & Monteverde in Parker's form, although I find Zebra & Pentel's gel writes much smoother than Park's Quink Gel
I sometimes doodle and I found I like the most for that a Bic Cristal Original due to the fact that I can vary the width of the lines depending on the pressure I apply. Are there any parker style refills that write and feel like this?
I’d try the Schneider 775 xb
Where can we find the Parker Gel 0.55 Fine refills?
I have a few of exactly those sliders - they are NOT rotring - I got them off Amazon DE just to harvest the Schneider D1s refills from them ✌🏾❤️

Same experience with Iungo for me. It's pretty good.
@@dangonzalez3505 Yeah, I've liked Monteverde and Iungo because they offer a blue black. Not very common with parker refills
I think the moleskine is no longer made. Couldn’t track one down for this. Will check the other one thanks!
@@unsharpen Yeah they stopped making the moleskine a few years ago now. It was such a great refill
Which one is the smoothest and doesn't require a lot of pressure to write?
What would say the most water resistant blue one is? I love the Parker blue gel but it washes completely away with the slightest water.

@@AaronDimonio yes they make a parker style gel refill only in black - needle point or .7
that 0.7 is a nice smooth writer. It is hard to find and often confused with the aqua roller which I find to be meh....
How would you compare the ohto flash go itoya gpr-7?

Yes I like that one. It feels like an Easyflow to me but I’ve never been able to confirm if it is or not!

Can you make a review of online standart refills (pressurised and normal)
I need to know which parker style is most similar to a pilot g2 black ink. I cant find one as dark and pure as it. Can anyone help?
I love my Carandach pens but the refill for carandache is not the greatest
What country did Schniedier Gelion plus come from
The "Schneider" brand comes from Germany.
What are the most popular ballpoint pens (max $100) that use the Parker refill G2? (Except Parker of course 🤣)

Schneider discontinued Gelion 39. They are selling a Gelion+ that doesn’t fit Parker style pens anymore. So sad.

Your voice reminds me of Andrew Huberman.
hold pen perpendicular to the paper for best results. You are tilting excessively and this is a bad habit.
My friend, i think u should develop your writing style because it looks unesthetic.
