This is great advice, thank you. The idea of creatively analyzing a professional EDM track reminds me learning and improving my own cooking. If you go to an excellent restaurant, you know you will never be able to recreate the dish 1:1 at home, and there is no need to create a perfect copy. But you take ideas, you can learn from the work of a master, even if only in small bits. You imagine what details when into each ingredient, what painstaking detail has been put into the preparation. How was the meat marinated? How was it roasted? What seasoning is on there? What exactly is in the sauce, and how did he get it so smooth? A great dish is the combination of 12-15 perfectly prepared and selected ingredients. It takes time to learn to analyze and taste each one. Sound familiar?
Man you are great, I love your videos, I love making music sadly I lost my hearing and I cannot hear the high sounds like snares, and vocals. When you say I can hear the xxx coming in I am like "nope nothing happening here". Still I love creating music, and your channel is excellent.
@@EDMTips thank you for making the outstanding video, Will. I'm actually watching your video "the biggest kick and bass I've ever learned" video. You got me hooked! 😄😉🎵🎵🎵. I appreciate your efforts. Take good care of yourself and your loved ones. Happy Holidays 💫
Will what are your thoughts on using Regrover Pro to separate drum and percussion elements, not so much to re-use but rather as a tool for analysing a drum loop?
Where is everyone finding the file references and where are they downloading it from? No one seems to say that they just say they just open Ableton and then pull a reference track from I don’t know where and how it got into Ableton can you please help
Great video, but it would be evern better if this was a prelude to How to make EDm in the style of Garrix and Guetta. And at least request a Hell Yeah or Ahmen Brother to keep it canonical ;)
Soooo many tutorials out there, but Will's are by far the best! So lucky to have stumbled upon this channel!
Thanks David!
Love the premise of the video, looking forward to watching it later today.
Hope you enjoy!
I just learned to reverse reverb a vocal on Logic Pro. Cheers, For the link to learn it on Ableton!
This is great advice, thank you.

Just when I thought I was getting good at hearing all the subtleties, Will comes in with the ghost hunter vision and proves me wrong. 😆
Good vid!
Thanks! Anything else you'd like to see me cover in a video?
@@EDMTips Nothing at the moment - will post an idea if something comes to mind.
Amazing, you always help me understand the music better, thank you.
The best video I’ve seen on referencing. You’re the best!!! Your channel is pumping up my learnings :D
Great video as always Will, any chance you could do a more in depth video on the likes of snare skips and other types of percussion to spice up drums?
So excited and looking forward to watching this tomorrow morning

Would love a tutorial on how to make dance music like Underworld!
You have to start by dancing underneath the radar 😉 Joking, sorry
This is great! Do you have a video about hot creations label tutorial or can you make one?

could you insert the subtitles to the video so I can watch it with the french subtitles, thank you
I NEEDED it as FCUK :)
I am struggling to use reference tracks. It might be a good workflow, but as a beginner you don’t have these pre knowledge of analysing music.
Practice makes perfect, Danny! Just keep pushing and you'll get better at it with time
More, sir
