On October 4th, 2023, an officer responded to a hotel where a female refused to leave her case worker's vehicle. This is footage of the events that followed.
if you end up hog tied with a helmet on in a police car you really need to reflect on how you might be sabotaging your own life. Bravo to the polite, patient officer.
She apparently was 18 . Not really old enough to reflect on how she's sabatoging her own life . Brand new adult and a ward of the state . In alot of cases they are miles behind there peers emotionally and mentally.
Sadly it sounds like, and a lot of this is *ASSUMPTIONS* on my part, but she has been in the foster care system for prob her whole life. Was a ward of the state in group homes bc she never got adopted (that’s sad in itself, but she obvi has anger issues, she may have had foster parents & messed up any chances due to attitude/ behavioral probs) …so now she has aged out of the system bc she turned 18 & on her own,,and that would be scary!! But her attitude/behavioral problems are only worsening everything!! And she should def have a job…she could prob go to college & get it covered for FREE ..But she’s prob around friends using drugs & prob is herself too doing all the wrong stuff. But I def think her past and her environment contributed to all this. Maybe the imperfect system , her parents , past etc all have some blame in this situation she’s in…but if she wants to change & contribute to society, 18 is def young enough to turn it all around & lead a functional life. But I have doubts she will do that - her life will prob be just warrants & jail time. Very sad.
I admire his control. I wouldn't have been able to keep myself from laughing at her. Which would have only made her freak out more, which would have made me laugh harder.....
For those who don’t seem to understand the whole case worker thing…this girl was in foster care/an orphanage basically, she turned 18 and couldn’t figure out where to go. It happens ALOT to the kids who never get adopted who then turn 18. They’re often left to their own demise with that last check that they receive, which is basically a glorified allowance. Some are smart enough to get part time jobs, they start saving for the big day…but many are not even in the right place mentally to grasp the fact that they need to do this. They’re children, as you can see here. This whole thing was over the fact that this girl was coming to the realization that she’s done, 100% on her own from here on out….considering where many of these kids come from and the lives they’ve had, that can be utterly terrifying to someone at 18, with no real family and a sparse few friends here and there outside of the care home. This is why she just kept wanting to go back to “the office”…she likely knows nothing else in regards to a home, and she definitely has no idea as to what she’s going to do next in life. Not all making excuses for the little brat but, can be quite overwhelming..esp for kids who’ve had a rough go at life already. More often than not, these kids get caught up in the legal system after turning 18, some intentionally as jail gives them a place to stay and (pretty much, food shelter and clothing wise) be taken care of still, many don’t know what else to do, and many of them end up in far less than ideal situations on the streets. There are people in this world who prey on kids like this, and the kids are often ill prepared to deal with that. Sucky and scary situation all the way around, but her behavior is atrocious. Not going to help her much in this world, she needs to grow up very quickly and I’m afraid she doesn’t have what it takes to do so.

Just saying, this is why the homeless population of those 18-25 is on a sharp rise in recent years. No reason to bring race into it in any case, completely irrelevant and random in a negative way. Kev, well said, ur spot on! I'm not condoning her behavior, she clearly was emotionally broken & in fight mode. Everyone did their best to be kind & gentle & couldn't contain her. In her hysterical state the Hospital should have admitted, sedated & transferred her to a mental health facility. This was a traumatic vid for me to see. I feel especially bad for the Caseworker, she handled this heartbreaking situation to the best of her ability & the resources available. I'm sure it didn't make it any easier for her.
That level of hysterics is simply not normal. There is something very wrong with this poor girl. Probably not a good idea to let her walk around in public.
She clearly has mental issues. She’s been in the system, and those kids have experienced real trauma. She may have suffered sexual assault as many kids have. Now she has aged out of the system, and is overwhelmed by being alone in the world. She’s still a kid. It’s very sad.
Absolutely tragic. She is triggered. She’s got PTSD, and now treated like a criminal. As though she hasn’t suffered enough in her life. She has no one. Poor child.

As an adult, if you find yourself in the hospital, with a helmet on your head with a spit mask on your face, while being tied up like a wild animal crying and screaming for your social worker, it’s time to rethink all of your life decisions.
I don't think she had any opportunities to make any of her own choices given she rew up I foster care and everyone else always guided her life and she didn't have any options or opportunities to make any decisions.
I’m a caseworker and this worker is absolutely at her Witt’s ends, We try anything and everything over and over to try help our clients, It’s hurts us to call the police but sometimes it’s absolutely needed..
She turned 18 and all the crazy stuff she's been getting away with becomes real life. She's scared because she has nothing and has probably burned all her bridges if she ever had any to begin with. Sad.

My niece was like this at 16-18 years old. She learned that people stayed away and left her alone when she acted this way. I wouldn’t allow it and her mom wouldn’t let me around her “because I traumatized her” 😣 she is now an addict living on the streets. So sad

The fake crying, the fake hyperventilating, the phony claims of not being able to breathe while screaming nonstop, the endless requests for her non-existent inhaler. They're all attempts at manipulation. Listen to her caseworker. Everything that happened up until this point was the result of her own poor choices. She couldn't stop being violent. As a result she was thrown out of every program to help those aging out of the system. This is all an act. She's angry because her usual manipulation methods aren't working on the cops.
No her “parents” failed her, why do you think shes in the foster system to begin with? People should stop pumping out kids for a paycheque and not take care of them.
It’s true I was in foster care and the way she’s screaming reminds me of myself when I would have these breakdowns. I hope she finds the help she needs and is able to become a functioning adult, I’m glad someone can see it’s not always just about them being a spoiled brat or something along those lines,
She knows how to "get out" of the vehicle. She just doesn't know how to "stay out" of the vehicle, which is actually the most important part of the leaving the vehicle process.

She asked for some space so she could leave the vehicle, but the cop said he was giving her space, but in fact he didn't. You can see the fear in her face, she is desperate. This is why I am in favor of abortion. If a person is not wanted even by her parents, the world will do horrors. And people blame her! She didn't had the same opportunities like you folk. She don't have anybody. Try to imagine that!!!

Failure to comply with a lawful order has consequences, regardless of the person's circumstances in life, including any and all psychiatric diagnoses plural. No excuses, justifications, or rationalizations!

Exactly I’m confused why everyone is excusing her actions like no she knows better. I got my first DUI at 18 years old and I knew you just comply with police I have never ever behaved like that anytime I’ve had to interact with them. She’s clearly an entitled brat and crazy and unstable.
I’ve always thought about removable chairs/seats for the back seat with wrist, ankle, and waist restraints. That way you have more officers able to get the person restrained in the seat and then you just load the seat with the person already secured in it in and lock it into place.
He escalates and antagonizes her. He brings up her arrest which is irrelevant and pushes her buttons. lot of these video I've seen where women blow up is always the cop escalating the situation and acting in a wrong way. These cops have 0 people skills or understanding of people's minds. Or maybe he wanted her to blow up? idk but she is clearly on edge she's basically homeless and her boyfriend just broke up with her who was obviously the last person she had as a support system and the case worker is treating her like trash while going through this. Says she is sol. Shit out of luck. Then he comes up and decided to boss her around and bully her. This is the obvious result. It's not rocket science. Her behavior in context is not strange or abnormal. Only sociopaths would be able to stay calm in such a situation, plus it is also very clear she has past anger issues because of her attacking a cop, so the cop decided to antagonize her to attack him. That's what is going on.
Also asking if it's ok to take pictures of her while she is in a humiliating and compromising look and then taking them anyway when she says no was just weird. Why did he even ask? Just to piss her off?
When her adrenaline finally wears off in a jail cell, she’s going to sleep fast. I know this from being a father and working through quite a few toddler meltdowns.😂
I wouldn't have put up with that either. One time a girlfriend of mine had a few too many to drink and started acting out at a club we were at accusing other women of looking at me. When she went to the bathroom I left her there 😂. It was 30 miles from my house. She threw such a fit in the parking lot the cops were called on her 😂. It was a Friday night so she had to stay there until Monday to see a judge 😆. I went to the strip club Saturday and Sunday and had a blast 😂. Her court appointed lawyer called me Monday morning and asked me if I would allow her to stay with me and If I will take responsibility for her? I hung up on him 😂

It's not excuses, it's compassion. I'm well aware it's not the majority view, but that's my point. What would Jesus do? I get your view.

Totally. I've been around a lot of young men and women like her and there is usually a sad story to go along with the anger we see on the surface. There are too many children whose care has slipped through the cracks, especially when they're in and out of foster care like this young lady is.
Yes this is very sad because she could have just turned 18 and didn't have anywhere to go I believe the state should have housing for 18 to 21 years of age after they age out of foster care

She is clearly a scared young woman with no support system and nowhere to go. If she has no ability to care for herself after years of being in the foster system, it makes you wonder what the system is actually doing for these kids.
This is most likely because she wasn't socialized properly to be held to a standard and held accountable for her moral failures. This is a pervasive issue with underage girls and young women in the English-speaking Developed World (especially in the US) nowadays.
So she grew up in a group home and is mentally ill. That worker should have 51/50'd her a long time ago. Mental health wasn't present. I don't see entitlement here.

This should be a good reminder of what happens when the State raises children. Sadly, I’m thinking she has nowhere to go and this became a nightmare of a reality for her when she turned 18.
She's getting checks and is driven around on taxpayer's money. All she needs is a job. When I was 19 I was 2000 miles away from home, spent 2 hours going to work, 9 hours working, and 2 more hours going back; 6 days a week. Didn't really have time nor energy to argue with the police...
I was a psych nurse for 30 years and dealt with this kind of thing on a regular basis. You learn to just turn off emotions and do what's best for the patient in spite of themselves.
Mom shot and killed pops. She was on heroin, and he was a violent alcoholic. Spent years in foster care and have seen all the worst that life has to offer. Once you realize the world doesn't give a damn about how tough your life was, you can move from victim to empowered 💯

@@DekkarJr She was in foster care and the caseworker cashes her checks due to a psychiatric illness. On top of that at 18 the state tosses you out. The only reason the caseworker cashes her checks is cause she doesn't have family and social security doesn't want her to run her finances for some reason. Shes probably reacting this way because of her psychiatric condition and this caseworker hasn't helped her find a place to live. She's vulnerable due to her mental illness and susceptible to abuse. Her reaction was that of someone that is being taken advantage of and the cop not understanding for example why if the caseworker receives her SSI is she being tossed out homeless. If what I'm saying is true then the officer instead of protecting her is doing the dirty work of the crooked caseworker that is probably taking advantage of her. The mentally ill are the most vulnerable to abuse because these cops instead of helping them side with the organizations that take advantage of these people.
The police officer who was talking to her has the patience of a saint. I was a preschool teacher for 30 years. I would have lost it if any of the kids had a tantrum like this girl. She obviously needs help or something.
She's using street substances to self-medicate just like a lot of these poor foster kids that got out out at age 18...however, my friend was a foster kid and she got an allotment every month for housing until a certain age. They will help you, at least partially, she definitely doesn't want to follow the rules though and that would require her to be in therapy, to go back to any kind of shelter at a certain time at night and not be able to party, and she definitely needs to be on medication and getting help for that. These type of people want to get their way, which is usually partying and self medicating. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. It's very sad.
I've seen job postings for police in my town.. starting was $25/hr...granted las cruces is a much bigger city & probably get more than that but either way they do NOT get paid enough.

I agree, the officer was nice, kind and patient. He just stood there and took all her swearing and bad-mouthing. My generation was very respectful to everybody. How did common decency & respect get so out of control.
They cleared her to get her tf out of there. You're entitled to use all available resources in america including stores, hospitals and restaurants as long as you can act civil. There are other people in that hospital. Kids, sick people, women, people who are dying etc. You can't have a hysterical banshee screaming profanities at the top of her lungs disturbing the peace. She wouldn't even cooperate enough to sit still...and she was already hog tied and restrained with a helmet. There was no chance she had shown she was able to undergo an entire medical check up. Don't blame our medical system for this absolutely deranged woman's actions that led her to being quickly scanned over and kicked out professionally.
This is so sad; she's 18 and aged out of foster and genuinely has no where to go; she has no life skills; and a lot of baggage that she has no idea how to handle. Incredibly sad.

For the majority of cases like this the officers hands are tied. It varies by state, but for the most part they can't force someone into a psych hold for longer than 72 hrs. We desperately need to change the laws so ppl like her can get into a psych halfway house type facility, and of course rehab if needed.
Many patients like this have to go to ER first before they are placed on a 5150 where they are in danger to others or themselves. They are put on a 72 hour hold. I agree with the other poster that society needs to take mental heath more seriously. This officer telling her to act like a grown adult does NOT know anything about a mental condition. So sad these officers are behaving like this and wrapped her up like that in a body hold. Many cites a have a mental unit where there is a team of a social worker and an officer that are highly trained on how to handle a subject with a possible mental disease.
How else would the police handle her? They stayed calm and followed their state laws. Why don’t you get out on the street and help these issues instead of being a keyboard warrior?

Going to a psychiatric hospital is y always the answer. Apparently having a CM and all the services she had more then likely she has been and it did no help. Sometimes there are just bad people
She was clearly tripping balls. This isn't mental health, it's pharmacological mental impairment. "What is she on?" The supervisor asked the question that no one else did until she left the hospital. She was f-ed out of her mind.

I feel really bad for police officers, nobody calls them because everything is fine. They only get to see people when they are at their worst. I couldn’t imagine an 8 hour work day, 5 days a week facing people and their problems.
well, i did this for a few years... and yeah we had to stay level headed with these people... i remember we kept getting calls for issues like this in Ralphs and a ton more nearby hollywood Blvd. it is just non stop with these cases.
That is an emotionally damaged young lady. At first acts like she is in control of the interaction with the officer, totally disrespects the officer and then acts surprised she has no control. You can tell she has been a wild child for a long time. When she realizes she is not in control in control, scream and cry like a 3 year old. The sad thing is she has lots of company and it is just getting worse each year. So many kids born to ill equipped parents who get put in the foster system and then develop major behavioral problems like this. Just sad…
I fear it’s only going to get worse, though I’m trying to stay positive. I’m not sure of how many states now have anti-abortion laws. But, in my opinion, if women are forced to go through the pregnancies, no doubt most will put them up for adoption. And I have no doubt that many of the babies will be born in withdrawal. We need to stop the cycle of it all, sooner than later.

I actually feel bad for her. I think there’s a difference between bad behavior and a mental disorder and she in my opinion clearly has a mental disorder. A reasonable person would have realized pretty quickly that poor behavior was not going to make the situation better. The fact that she continued in this matter, shows that she is not functioning at a high-level. Credit to the officers for showing the patients that they did.
Imagine being a sick patient at the hospital having to listen to that LOUD immature brat, throwing a tantrum. It'd be torture. I feel bad for the officers that were forced to listen to that.
I've been in A+E after being admitted with pancreatitis, in absolute agony waiting for pain relief and waiting for a bed on a ward, when a person being as loud as her was put opposite me. It was a total nightmare! When you're in a lot of pain, to the point you don't know what to do with yourself and you have to listen to someone being so loud, who also kept physically attacking the staff! It was torture! I don't know this person's full story and why she's behavingin this way, but it's the last thing you need when you're unwell or in pain.

Was a ward of the state in group homes bc she never got adopted (that’s sad in itself, but she obvi has anger issues, she may have had foster parents & messed up any chances due to attitude/ behavioral probs) …so now she has aged out of the system bc she turned 18 & on her own,,and that would be scary!! But her attitude/behavioral problems are only worsening everything!! And she should def have a job…she could prob go to college & get it covered for FREE ..But she’s prob around friends using drugs & prob is herself too doing all the wrong stuff. But I def think her past and her environment contributed to all this. Maybe the imperfect system , her parents , past etc all have some blame in this situation she’s in…but if she wants to change & contribute to society, 18 is def young enough to turn it all around & lead a functional life. But I have doubts she will do that - her life will prob be just warrants & jail time. Very sad.

For those who don’t seem to understand the whole case worker thing…this girl was in foster care/an orphanage basically, she turned 18 and couldn’t figure out where to go. It happens ALOT to the kids who never get adopted who then turn 18. They’re often left to their own demise with that last check that they receive, which is basically a glorified allowance. Some are smart enough to get part time jobs, they start saving for the big day…but many are not even in the right place mentally to grasp the fact that they need to do this. They’re children, as you can see here. This whole thing was over the fact that this girl was coming to the realization that she’s done, 100% on her own from here on out….considering where many of these kids come from and the lives they’ve had, that can be utterly terrifying to someone at 18, with no real family and a sparse few friends here and there outside of the care home. This is why she just kept wanting to go back to “the office”…she likely knows nothing else in regards to a home, and she definitely has no idea as to what she’s going to do next in life. Not all making excuses for the little brat but, can be quite overwhelming..esp for kids who’ve had a rough go at life already.
More often than not, these kids get caught up in the legal system after turning 18, some intentionally as jail gives them a place to stay and (pretty much, food shelter and clothing wise) be taken care of still, many don’t know what else to do, and many of them end up in far less than ideal situations on the streets. There are people in this world who prey on kids like this, and the kids are often ill prepared to deal with that.
Sucky and scary situation all the way around, but her behavior is atrocious. Not going to help her much in this world, she needs to grow up very quickly and I’m afraid she doesn’t have what it takes to do so.

In her hysterical state the Hospital should have admitted, sedated & transferred her to a mental health facility. This was a traumatic vid for me to see.
I feel especially bad for the Caseworker, she handled this heartbreaking situation to the best of her ability & the resources available. I'm sure it didn't make it any easier for her.

The fake crying, the fake hyperventilating, the phony claims of not being able to breathe while screaming nonstop, the endless requests for her non-existent inhaler. They're all attempts at manipulation. Listen to her caseworker. Everything that happened up until this point was the result of her own poor choices. She couldn't stop being violent. I’ve always thought about removable chairs/seats for the back seat with wrist, ankle, and waist restraints. That way you have more officers able to get the person restrained in the seat and then you just load the seat with the person already secured in it in and lock it into place.

When she went to the bathroom I left her there 😂. It was 30 miles from my house. She threw such a fit in the parking lot the cops were called on her 😂. It was a Friday night so she had to stay there until Monday to see a judge 😆. I went to the strip club Saturday and Sunday and had a blast 😂. Her court appointed lawyer called me Monday morning and asked me if I would allow her to stay with me and If I will take responsibility for her? I hung up on him 😂

Totally. I've been around a lot of young men and women like her and there is usually a sad story to go along with the anger we see on the surface. There are too many children whose care has slipped through the cracks, especially when they're in and out of foster care like this young lady is.

Yes this is very sad because she could have just turned 18 and didn't have anywhere to go I believe the state should have housing for 18 to 21 years of age after they age out of foster care

She is clearly a scared young woman with no support system and nowhere to go. If she has no ability to care for herself after years of being in the foster system, it makes you wonder what the system is actually doing for these kids.

This is most likely because she wasn't socialized properly to be held to a standard and held accountable for her moral failures. This is a pervasive issue with underage girls and young women in the English-speaking Developed World (especially in the US) nowadays.

I was a psych nurse for 30 years and dealt with this kind of thing on a regular basis. You learn to just turn off emotions and do what's best for the patient in spite of themselves.

@@DekkarJr She was in foster care and the caseworker cashes her checks due to a psychiatric illness. On top of that at 18 the state tosses you out. The only reason the caseworker cashes her checks is cause she doesn't have family and social security doesn't want her to run her finances for some reason. Shes probably reacting this way because of her psychiatric condition and this caseworker hasn't helped her find a place to live. She's vulnerable due to her mental illness and susceptible to abuse. Her reaction was that of someone that is being taken advantage of and the cop not understanding for example why if the caseworker receives her SSI is she being tossed out homeless. If what I'm saying is true then the officer instead of protecting her is doing the dirty work of the crooked caseworker that is probably taking advantage of her. The mentally ill are the most vulnerable to abuse because these cops instead of helping them side with the organizations that take advantage of these people.
The police officer who was talking to her has the patience of a saint. I was a preschool teacher for 30 years. I would have lost it if any of the kids had a tantrum like this girl. She obviously needs help or something.

She's using street substances to self-medicate just like a lot of these poor foster kids that got out out at age 18...however, my friend was a foster kid and she got an allotment every month for housing until a certain age. They will help you, at least partially, she definitely doesn't want to follow the rules though and that would require her to be in therapy, to go back to any kind of shelter at a certain time at night and not be able to party, and she definitely needs to be on medication and getting help for that. These type of people want to get their way, which is usually partying and self medicating. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. It's very sad.

They cleared her to get her tf out of there. You're entitled to use all available resources in america including stores, hospitals and restaurants as long as you can act civil. There are other people in that hospital. Kids, sick people, women, people who are dying etc. You can't have a hysterical banshee screaming profanities at the top of her lungs disturbing the peace. She wouldn't even cooperate enough to sit still...and she was already hog tied and restrained with a helmet. There was no chance she had shown she was able to undergo an entire medical check up. Don't blame our medical system for this absolutely deranged woman's actions that led her to being quickly scanned over and kicked out professionally.

For the majority of cases like this the officers hands are tied. It varies by state, but for the most part they can't force someone into a psych hold for longer than 72 hrs. We desperately need to change the laws so ppl like her can get into a psych halfway house type facility, and of course rehab if needed.
Many patients like this have to go to ER first before they are placed on a 5150 where they are in danger to others or themselves. They are put on a 72 hour hold. I agree with the other poster that society needs to take mental heath more seriously. This officer telling her to act like a grown adult does NOT know anything about a mental condition. So sad these officers are behaving like this and wrapped her up like that in a body hold. Many cites a have a mental unit where there is a team of a social worker and an officer that are highly trained on how to handle a subject with a possible mental disease.
How else would the police handle her? They stayed calm and followed their state laws. Why don’t you get out on the street and help these issues instead of being a keyboard warrior?

I feel really bad for police officers, nobody calls them because everything is fine. They only get to see people when they are at their worst. I couldn’t imagine an 8 hour work day, 5 days a week facing people and their problems.

I fear it’s only going to get worse, though I’m trying to stay positive. I’m not sure of how many states now have anti-abortion laws. But, in my opinion, if women are forced to go through the pregnancies, no doubt most will put them up for adoption. And I have no doubt that many of the babies will be born in withdrawal.
We need to stop the cycle of it all, sooner than later.

I actually feel bad for her. I think there’s a difference between bad behavior and a mental disorder and she in my opinion clearly has a mental disorder. A reasonable person would have realized pretty quickly that poor behavior was not going to make the situation better. The fact that she continued in this matter, shows that she is not functioning at a high-level. Credit to the officers for showing the patients that they did.

I've been in A+E after being admitted with pancreatitis, in absolute agony waiting for pain relief and waiting for a bed on a ward, when a person being as loud as her was put opposite me. It was a total nightmare! When you're in a lot of pain, to the point you don't know what to do with yourself and you have to listen to someone being so loud, who also kept physically attacking the staff! It was torture! I don't know this person's full story and why she's behavingin this way, but it's the last thing you need when you're unwell or in pain.
