I don't own the omnibus. I own the individual TPB collections of Morrison's Doom Patrol run. I am a big fan of this series. I re-read the Morrison run in 2018 again and I loved it even more. The absurdist humor really worked for me and concepts like The Brotherhood of Dada were incredibly imaginative. Richard Case's art measures up to Morrison's out there concepts. His work on The Painting That Ate Paris was a highlight. I also liked Morrison's take on the Military Industrial Complex and the Pentagon. I don't like everything Morrison has written, but his Doom Patrol is very special.

Yeah - this was super phenomenal. One of his best. I love Morrison’s style and, as a writer myself (albeit for theatre) he’s a huge inspiration and reading this omnibus was hugely inspirational as always.

I've always been a fan of the weirdness of Doom Patrol. When they were relaunched in the 90's I bought the monthly releases of the Paul Kupperberg run. When it was announced that starting issue 19 a new writer will step in and the title will be a Mature Only series, I dropped the book. Later on I went back and picked up an issue of Grant's run and after reading it, I had instant regret. I went back and looked for all issues I've missed and was able to complete it. Like you said, this is the best Doom Patrol run bar none.

They're my favorite writer in comics, and I can say for sure now after watching this that you're ready for their Invisibles series. It takes Doom Patrol's absurdism and existentialism and cranks it up to a 12. There's not really been anything done like it in the past and you'll get more out of it the more times you read it, definitely grab it soon. Also, Rachel Pollack's run picks up right after this and is differently good. Both runs (and Gerard Way's more modern take) are the inspirations for and often directly adapted by the unsung hero of live action adaptations that is the HBO series

Definitely going to pick up the Invisibles if I get an opportunity- funny enough, I almost picked it up like a decade ago when I was 14/15. Probably better that I’ll be able to experience it for the first time now rather than then, haha.
I’ve got Pollack’s run! Excited to read it soon!!! I also just watched the first episode of the show and loved it (was surprised to see Brendan Fraser there - wasn’t expecting him but he’s phenomenal).

More DC love is coming soon! I’m dipping my toes into the world slowly - really loving what I’ve read so far, though.

Great video. I read this run years ago in trades and have the Omni on my shelf unread . You have inspired me to bump it to the top of the reading pile!

Awesome! Hope you enjoy it even more than you did the first time - I know this is one I’m definitely going to be revisiting every now and then! So good.

This is one of those comics that just energizes you with its creativity. Now to decide if I should take a DP breather and read Brubaker’s Catwoman, Slotts Silvet Surfer, or if I should continue down my DP rabbit hole…

@@OmnibusRyan I guess it de;pends on whether you are yearning for a palate cleanser or if you're enjoying occupying the head space created by this. Pollack's run (though different) will probably keep you in the same space. Way's might as well but...well I'm not a big fan in part because it feels like he's trying too hard to keep you there! But I look forward to hearing what you think about it all as I love comparing and contrasting perspectives.

I don't know if you're still active on this channel and I see another comment recommended it, but if you like crazy and mind blowing stuff, invisibles is incredible, I just read it and it might be my favorite thing I've ever read and better than any movie or book too, hopefully I'm not overhyping it and than you don't enjoy it if you end up reading it, but it's just so much fun and introduces so many ridiculous concepts that should make no sense but do, uhh i forgot where I was going with this but just another recommendation for the invisibles, great video and channel by the way, I know it's hard and discouraging growing a small channel but this is high quality stuff.
