  • GBMC's Kroh Center for Digestive Disorders, under the direction of Niraj D. Jani, MD, Chief of The Division of Gastroenterology, offers a multi-disciplinary approach for the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, pancreas, gallbladder and liver for both adults and children. A full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures are performed in the center. The Kroh Center for Digestive Disorders at GBMC is among the first in Maryland to introduce a new endoscope platform to screen for colorectal cancer with High-Definition Endoscopy and Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) technologies.
High-Definition Endoscopy and NBI enable endoscopists to perform "gold standard" diagnostic procedures to more accurately visualize the entire colon and allow for the early detection and removal of lesions and polyps before they turn into cancer. Capsule endoscopy, rectal and esophageal motility studies and rectal ultrasound, pH studies, endoscopic ultrasound, ablative procedures for Barrett's esophagus, and breath tests are also available. The center is staffed by highly qualified gastroenterologists, surgeons and specialized nurses. Excellent, specialized complimentary services and procedures are also provided by laboratory and radiology departments, as well as other medical and surgical specialties in the hospital.
