In 1999, children from Kosovo came as refugees to where I live in Australia. I was only a kid too, so I was sent to go and hang out with them, a few of them spoke english and the things they told me were absolutely fucked. One kid told me the Serbians shot his father as he ran down the stairs carrying the boys suitcase and they laughed at him as he stumbled down and died, right infront of the whole family. I remember him telling me that most of them had lost fathers, grandfathers, uncles, to similar sort of killings. The Serbians did it, just for fun.

@@supabass4003 Serbians were Slavic . But , weren't the Kosovians Slavic too ? Would like an explanation of this .
The Serbians were Slavic , and were advocates of the Czarist idea of having a Pan- Slavic state . Hence , the Prince of the Hapsburg - Empire Franz Joseph was assassinated by a serb anarchist , along with his wife too . Hence : the chain reaction of Germany , it's Kaiser honored a promise to come to the Hapsburg Empire if the Hapsburg Empire was provoked / attacked . Germany funded ,vAnd sent troops , and weapons to fend off the Russians attacking the Balkans . Germany's entrance against Russian attacks was see an act of war by France . France , and Russia were a hollow alliance . Nevertheless , France honored their alliance with Russia , and declared war on.Germany . Germany , then declared war on France , after Germany declared on war on Russia , along with it's long ally the Hapsburg Empire . So , Great Britain declared war on Germany , and , by now the Central alliance , being that Turkey took the side of The Hapsburgs , and Germany , hence , The Central Powers . Great Britain became an ally of Russia band France to thwart long feared German aggressiveness . And , WW1 was on its way by late July , 1914 .
What's interestingly bizarre , some civilians , of financial wellness , including some prominent figures of France , wen to witness the very early , 1st battle , and were shocked , and awed about how brutal the war was going to be ; similar to the 1st battle during "The American Civil WaR ", where a picnic type atmosphere was , and that the war would be finished in a month . But , 4 bloody yrs. followed . , and nearly 10, 000, 000 soldiers , and a few civilians perished in the " WAR TO END ALL WARS " . Just over 20 yrs. Later , Europe would be embroiled I'm a more devasting war ; WW2 ! But , this time a newer , and a disciplined Army , Navy , and Airpower was emerging that had Europeans with colonies in the Pacific were warily turning their heads over their shoulders on a nation whose military was like that of the Nazis, but , Evan more fanatical , and tenacious in the Imperialistic / Fascist Japanese . Imperial/ Fascist Japan was opportunistic in gobbling up territories lost by Imperialist European nations , while their military was gaining it's prowess everyday , especially their Navy . Actually , Imperialist / Fascist Japan invaded China's Mongolia ares in 1931+ 1932 . Some historians believe such actions by Imperialist / Fascist Japan were the start of WW2 , or the invasion of China proper in 1937 was a start of WW2 .

A very moving & thought provoking vlog from you, Tino. It seems that as long as war exists, then atrocities will always be present, & being from the winning or losing side plays no part in who conducts them. It will always make no difference how civilised a society has become, it's simply that, giving young men weapons & telling them they must kill their enemy, will always result in civilian casualties, as it is always dependent on how the effects of their personal experience of war have been to them. Regards Urban Geeze.

    Old military saying:
Regardless of technical advances, infantry soldiers with rifles and bayonets winkling the enemy out of trenches and bunkers, are the final arbiters.. (see also: Hand grenades)
Just because your battlefield computer / drone-feed says your tanks have broken through, without close infantry support, they may not last long under a shower of anti-armour weapons carried by the OPPOSING infantry.

Had Hitler not invaded the USSR, Stalin would have invaded Western Europe within the same summer to, following Lenins logic of world comunism, to make the first big step of installing world comunsism and repell capitalism.
For that purpose he had amassed all the troops and materiel along the border. As 20.000 maps of Western Europe were found by adavancing German troops, is one explanation of the surprinsingliy fast progress the Wehrmacht made in the early stages. The Soviet troops were prepared for attack, not for defense. Having no maps of their own territory at hand, delayed slwong the German advance effectively.
There was a book published in Germany about 2010 by a pensioned Soviet General titled "Stalins verhinderter Erstschlag" which was well recherched, sourcing archives in Moscow and Germany.

fantastic video for comparison between 1941 and present day activities, such coverage well above your usual high standard
you can see very easily that Ukraine defence have been very quick to cannibalise wrecked Russian tanks and vehicles in order to maintain others - but i have myself far better plan for taking a tank out of action without damaging and wasting a usable resource or harming its crew, its partially by means of robot and psychological, after demobilising the vehicle, the crew would become disorientated and bail out, unless the tank is disabled by the crew it can be soon turned against the enemy, and if repeated over many tanks and vehicles, Putin would simply be sending his tanks to be taken over and used against him
its another odd thing and of course completely wrong that the Russians continued to show frustration towards Ukrainian civilians, i can almost understand that, but when it came to defending themselves against attack, is shooting at civilian targets just a waste of munitions, while it is monstrous it is also their own deaf warrant, it really shows the desperate situation on behalf of the Russians to send in an army, ill equipped, with little experience led by incompetent leaders all the way to the top, Putin - all so sure of their intentions and very much not in tune with reality - thankfully the Ukrainians have shown a great hand that they can beat Putin's oppression

The Canadian parliament just gave two standing ovations to Yaroslav Hunker a 98 year-old Waffen SS Nazi. Canada even has a University Scholarship in his name. His Galizien division is known to have committed massive war crimes. Yaroslav must've been vetted before entering the parliament building. So, Canadian government either willingly applauded a former Nazi OR they don't know that the Russians fought on the Allies side in ww2. Which is more shocking? btw Canada gave sanctuary to Ukrainian nazis at the end of ww2 so the West could start an insurgency against the Soviet Union occupation. Russia lost 26.5 million people fighting the Nazis in ww2.

It is perhaps the WORST WWII tank you could use today. Slow, heavy, complicated, armor completely inadequate against even 1950s-60s anti-tank weapons, unable to keep up with any modern vehicles, gun not suited for infantry support but useless against any tank made after the 1960s.

As a former soldier, I am one who wishes to avoid another war, although evil is on the rise and therefore must be fought.
The question becomes, how do you fight such a war, as that in Ukraine, without provoking a larger wider war? How do you protect, civilians, and reduce civilian casualties, especially when the enemy is clearly willing to slaughter them to satisfy their blood lust? How do you drive that enemy off your land, without that enemy laying total waste to your country on his way out?
I don't have the answers, but I do know that it would require competent, and strong leadership from the Western powers.
Unfortunately, there is NONE of either competence or strength from the West at present.
The PRC is rising (politically), and as its economy continues to fail, it drives Chairman Xi even closer to pulling the war pin. After all, he has less and less to lose. Russia is largely in the same boat, and Putin already pulled that pin. Soon the two major second-tier powers edging ever closer to war because they have little to lose either way, the prospect of a major world war looms ever greater. Will North Korea make the decision to attack the South again? Will Venezuela attack one or more of its neighbors? Will the Iranians be emboldened to the point of going after Israel? Where else will long-smoldering tensions flare up?
With the waffling, and dithering leadership in the West, how long will it take the West to begin to fight back? Or, will they just roll over and give up.
    Then evil will have won.

Thank you for sharing this. It was quite a insightful video and the narrative was very informative. You are so right in your last comments in regards to the atrocities that were committed. Russian people are not sadistic people, just some of the indoctrination that has blinded them. I do hope that they get a change of leadership soon that can help with the healing process between the Ukraine and Russian peoples

The inside of that tank that was destroyed reminded me of the Apollo 1 training mission, when the 3 astronauts died. Russia hasn't gotten a change with the brave Ukrainian fighters like this. They need to get a new Russian leader who doesn't want to just send them to their death's.

How prophetic US of As highly decorated , and prominent General George S. Patton , was about the future problems that the Soviet Union , and later Russia , would be . Evan in the late 1890s , and early 1900s , Russia was causing mischief in the Balkans , with the fanaticism of Pan - Slavic state (s) . The assassination if Hapsburg Prince Joeseph was a result of Russia causing mischief that resulted in the 1st WW.

great music at the end! The teddy bears show what the Russians are doing and why they will loose this war : they bomb civilians and their infrastructure instead of military objects. This whole war makes me puke! I hope this mess will end soon as war shouldn't be part of this century!

There are definitely similarities however, WW2 on the eastern front was a titanic battle for existence. The war in Ukraine is more like a border dispute/civil war. Not even close in size or scope. Also the Russians won WW2.

The Kharkiv factory produced T-64 and T-80 in soviet times, but they haven’t been able to produce new tanks since the 90s. All of the “new” Ukrainian (and most Russian) tanks are refurbished soviet-era hulls.
Since 2014 they were (very slowly) refurbishing/modernizing the huge amount of derelict T-64s Ukraine has, but in batches of like 10 at a time.

The hull design yes, but capabilities wise they are on a completely different tier. There are very few tanks developed after the 1980s because those tanks left plenty of room for upgrades.
