  • David Ayzenberg who was born in 1926 Kiev and was living there during the war years recalls how he together with other Kiev Jews came to a Jewish cemetery near the Babi Yar ravine following German order. Ayzenberg depicts horrors he witnessed there. He tells how he and other Jews were driven to the ravine, how witnessing all the horror he lost consciousness and came to himself only in the ravine underneath the dead bodies and how after several days who crawled out of the ravine and escaped.

It is remarkable that people like David Ayzenberg have had the strength and courage to recount such horrific, heinous and contemptible acts of depravity. For them to relive this and give testimony like they do for our sakes in order that it may not happen again demands our heartfelt gratitude.

The Jews went through so much hell. I wonder how the survivors lived with so much pain after the war. I couldn't bear that, even if I survived.

Just imagine the terrible, searing trauma and shock that this brave man as a little child then along with the 35,000 innocent Jews murdered in Kievsky district, Ukraine had endured at the hands of cruel, cowardly Nazis ? When people complain of Soviet Red Army, US, French and British, etc. atrocities committed against Nazi soldiers from 1943 and German civillians in 1945, can you really fault the snarling rage and fury especially of the Russians ?

The events he described took place on September 29-30 1941, not December.
