In all my years following powerplaychess I think thats the only time I’ve seen mr king get up from the chair to do something. I think he may have put his phone that was on the bookshelf on silent in one video years ago, or am I imagining that now? I think it does show professionalism
*Najdorf game shows up* Daniel King: allow me to introduce myself By the way, I'm always looking at Najdorf games, really exciting when top players play this. Pp to 100k
@Dude only the war didn't start now, it has started 8 years ago. It's a shame they never condemned the shelling of Eastern Ukraine (Donbas) which has been going on for 8 years now, taking 14000 lives.
@@xCupressocyparis because I am a realist, have alwys admired fire on board and thought it a shame when he was robbed of his world title shot, had hoped his revival in the last year might give him the chance, sadly this performance shows it will not.
@@joseraulcapablanca8564 Oh, I thought you were referring to Vidit. I agree that it's a pity that Shirov will probably never get a chance to fight for the crown, he earned his shot over 20 years ago and was robbed of it, one more controversy in the history of the world title.
@@xCupressocyparis Yes sorry i did not make myself particularly clear there. I think Vidit has a good chance of becoming a candidate in the future and an average chance of becoming the champion once Magnus is finished with bullying the chess world
when the knight and the bishop were shut out with f-3, stockfish would take the E-4 with the knight and continue to play on and kick white’s a** all over the board
Nothing wrong with a (very) late surprise Queen-side castling. Sometimes your opponent even forgets you still have that option. Although perhaps not at this level. And yes to some Ivanchuk analysis please, would be a nice gesture.
A rare loose end in this video (I love your videos in general, usually all obvious looking moves are covered): why doesn't black take twice on d5 at move 9, instead of 9. ... Nc5? Checked with the computer, and it actually seems to be a valid option, but again, it requires some computer-like sequence: 9... Nxd5 10. exd5 Bxd5 11. axb5 (11. 0-0 is possible, but loses the momentum) Bxg2!? 12. Rg1 axb5!, the point being that the white rook is hanging on a1 and after an exchange on a8, the bishop on g2 takes back (seems best, although white is still better after 14. Qa3) or is protected again by the queen on a8...
13:00 “these pawns are split” … not to mention: Split Rooks! By the way, are you sure your pronunciation of “Vidit” is correct? During Tata Steel the Dutchmen always called him “Fidit”. (Which I thought was hilarious, but Vidit’s performance seemed to suffer. There may have been other reasons, but you never know.)
No offense to shirov great attacker and 2700 player but he essentially lashed out for a few moves which led to nothing except white king in perfect safety and his king desperate for shelter. Did he even calculate?

Powerplay to 100k!!!
Always active, creative tactical solutions, but total disregard where the king should find safety - Shirov at his worst reminds me of me at my best
That made me smile!
Great video as usual. Humble suggestion: could you show some of the masterpieces of Ivanchuk in the coming days, please?
Agreed!

Well, Vidit opened a window to his king with f3 so naturally Danny played King to h1 to close it. :)
Thanks for both the great game presentation and your thoughts on the current situation.
Thank you so much Daniel and bravo Grischuk for his words
A great video, thanks for posting
Can you please cover A Predke vs Vachier-Lagrave 2022 from Grand Prix leg 2? Vachier won a Sicilian with Black.

hahaha
I was looking for your commentary, couldn't find it on you tube or Twitch.
I always enjoy hearing your chess commentary. Keep it up!
Daniel don't forget to post vidit's today's game against Fedoseev...
PP to 100k!
Thank you. That was a very good game. (Perhaps a slurp of tea couldn't hurt, eh Daniel?)
I’m so glad that Some Russian players are being outspoken about the war.
Respect to Grishuk and Svidler.

A fine win for vidit, sad that it seems now he willnever get his chance as a candidate. Thanks daniel and keep up the good work.
Why do you say he will never have a chance to get into the candidates?

Great coverage thanks
Blacks position after 0-0-0 reminds me of some wild 2 knight defense variations.
Your videos bring out, at once, the beauty of the moves and the beauty of the game...............
Thanks for "mentioning the war" . The best you can do Daniel is to just carry on with your videos.
Qasem Soleimani option

surprising he didnt see his knight hanging after 2 moves
Sounded like a large aeroplane!
The Russians are bombing UK
Thanks for the interesting game
Daniel you forgot to mention Black also has split rooks.

I'd just go 11... axb5, but yeah, I also thought he should have taken the knight on d5
are you near Heathrow Daniel?
All of west London is near Heathrow!

Fun game, great composure by Vidit to secure the win. By the way, who won the game between you and Shirov ?
Got checkmated beautifully in our first game, then a bit later I drew against him. ua-cam.com/video/5idXBmyzM50/v-deo.html
