It's a 9 for me. I first discovered them in 2017 with Antisocialites. Their music never fails to make me feel happy and boost my mood. They have completely outdone themselves and released some of the freshest, most interesting and lush shoegaze/indie rock I've heard in a long time. It sounds so good. Pure bliss. Can't stop listening to it. On rateyourmusic, it's already #3 of the year on and even #5 in the top shoegaze albums of all time.
@Lucien Favre the site as a whole definitely has quite a bias in what genres of music generally end up getting more praise than others. I use it mainly to discover music. Just thought it was pretty cool how much praise this album was getting. I knew it was really good but didn't know that it would already be at #5 in greatest shoegaze albums of all time like not even a week after it came out
This album's been getting A LOT of praise, and I gotta say, I mostly agree. It's an album that takes a few listens for it to really grow on you, but the extremely tight songwriting and quality melodies and guitarwork, track by track, really delivers.
Belinda Says is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in recent memory due to the great story paired with a beautiful sonic landscape. I respect you melon but your take on the song is just insane to me

I agree with this. I thought their first album was great, their second had some terrific moments, but wasn't as good, and this new album does nothing for me. You can barely hear the vocals, and from what I can hear of the melodies, they're not as strong. The hype is weird on this one.

I didn't know the band at all. Heard "tile by tile" on a comedy radio show, of all things, and I was just mesmerised. I feel like I haven't heard something like that for SUCH a long time. I was expecting a lower score cause of your shoegaze takes. It's a 9 for me, but nice!
I didn't know anthony dislikes shoegaze
@@goleer6694 He doesn't dislike it as a whole, it's just there are just some fan favorites that he found underwhelming. People think that means he doesn't like a genre for some reason
@@goleer6694 he doesn't hate shoegaze, but he does have some notoriously unpopular, negative reviews of shoegaze releases (notably Slowdive, Deafheaven, and Hum).
@@apullcan yeah exactly! That's why I said his takes
There’s a new Titus Andronicus album, Anthony. You should probably give it a thorough review.
Not gonna lie, I've been hammering the hell out of this album since it dropped. Definite vinyl purchase for me...
I didn't know the band at all. Heard "tile by tile" on a comedy radio show, of all things, and I was just mesmerised. I feel like I haven't heard something like that for SUCH a long time. I'd say the early 90s?? That was probably the last time I heard something so low key and "cool" and impactfully authentic. I've since listened to their other songs and they aren't doing much for me. But tile by tile for me... I can't get over it.
