    Great video, it's interesting to see how much work goes into building the precast sections

    It is very interesting to see where all the concrete sections are made, I have just one question: Where does the reinforcing come from??, It's great seeing it all come together, 👍👍

    Very Good and informative, but there is one thing that I can.t understand is that the planners have allowed an open walkway between the lifts. Disabled people in wheelchairs will get wet and cold, and the little canopy over the lifts are facing the strong prevailing winds and rain. Rain will more than likely drive into the lifts . Sorry to be negative but as a disabled person, this bothers me, and the whole externalness of the structure.

    I would like to ask Jack a question. Not related but as interesting. Jack you know the Tower Cranes we see around our towns and cities? Are they remote controlled? I never see a person up there

    Amazin'. 😃
    We're so used to just seeing the bits and pieces turning up, on time, as required. So I'd never really thought about the manufacture and logistics involved. But when you consider how numerous and complicated the precast parts for the Dawlish operation are, it's incredible to learn that Shay is also juggling with over 50 other projects at the same time! I'm suitably impressed.

      Indeed @Cargy930. I'm still struggling to get my head around it. Remarkably impressive work from Shay Murtagh.

    You shorten Shay Murtagh Precast to "Shays" - very strange. The correct shortening is to "Murtaghs"

    Dawlish beach has a lot of stone mixed with sand, during storms this must create a powerful ablation force. The old granite stones used were heavily rounded from storms. Concrete is not as hard as granite, how long will the surfaces last?
    I have never understood why the breakers are not kept maintained, either.

    • @CoastCams247
      @CoastCams247  Рік тому +1

      The breakers are maintained by Teignbridge and the new sea wall is designed to last 100 years.

      @@CoastCams247 Last time I was in Dawlish the breakers were in great disrepair, has that all changed now?

      I believe there are facilities for this in Britain, but a lot of them are likely engaged with other projects at the moment…
