  • This short video shows how to put together PVC and ABS drain pipes. The procedure is the same for both types of drain lines and using this procedure will ensure that your pipes will not leak. In this video I will explain why we need to think through how to assemble pipes and then show you how to apply the primer and the cement to ensure that your pipe joints are completely covered and then how to make sure that the joints are connected correctly.

Question...under my bathroom sink, the drainpipe portion that goes into the wall to the vent pipe has some play. I can pull it towards me for about an inch. Is the behind wall vent pipe flexible to give that much play or is it most likely disconnected behind the wall? The house was built in 1995. Thanks.

Typically the pipe that goes into the wall will go down thru the bottom 2 x 4 plate and up to the vent. If the hole in the floor is large enough for the pipe to move back-and-forth that could be why your pipe has motion. I would expect that if you don’t have any sewer odors in your bathroom then the vent pipe is still connected correctly.
