You know it's funny thinking back playmates took a huge risk on that Wave 1, it not only had 10 figures, but 3 ships, 1 scaled vehicle, and 2 life size accessory toys. Followed shortly by the bridge and wave 2 with like 20 more figures. I wish companies took risk like that now.
No way, I literally just had the shuttle arrive at my door today! It came used but with the box. All the lights and sounds work fine and fortunately all the stickers look great. It’s such a cool toy with these figures. I hope you get yours working - sounds like you might need that contact cleaner after all…
Strangely, I found that some of my old Trek toys won’t work with nice contemporary batteries. Try using lower-cost AAs from the Dollar Store or something. You might have a pleasant surprise.
Best to have Go-Gone spray on hand for stickers. Works great, though a bit of Windex clean-up is needed afterwards. Bad design for the battery compartment and on/off switch.
I recall when i first purchased this one clearly as I was recovering from surgery, so was on bedrest. Those were pre-internet days, so having a Type 6 shuttle to mess around with was a life saver.
I actually have 2 shuttles. One, I gave to my daughter (it was the one from my childhood) but I bought another so that I could PROPERLY do all the stickers as an adult. The one I did as a kid is actually pretty good! But on the newer one I took tweezers to put the display LCARS stickers on the inside and took that extra time to get them perfect. Mine both work.... the warp engines light up and there's 2 sound effects: sound of shuttle at impulse and a phaser burst. Sometimes the buttons on top do stick. Double check the ON/OFF switch position and batteries etc. Then try pressing one of the buttons really hard... kind of seesaw/wobble it a bit to make sure it's depressing properly. I find it unlikely the whole thing (lights and sounds) both died. You think the stickers on this guy are crazy? Just wait till you open up the Bridge! Lol Love the video!!
I had that back in the day and then about 10 years ago and I'm going to order it from eBay this week. And hay Mike. I'm in Philadelphia PA too. And I think you need to open the front hatch to get to the on off switch.

Sorry you had to go through surgery, but yeah those toys were great for pre-internet imagination. Got me through the rainy days too

Yes! And I actually put the stickers in bridge set (as well as my fat fingers allowed)... it was quite the challenge, but looks so cool all together!

I have had problems getting the ships to work with batteries that are rechargeable. I would definitely try other batteries.
