The patch head is the best head sculpt Hasbro has done of Wolverine. If we got one without a patch that would also perfectly capture the artwork of his 4-issue limited series.
So the story behind this suit - Chris Claremont started the Wolverine ongoing in 1988, during the time the X-Men were in Australia after faking their deaths. But the story started as part of the anthology series Marvel Presents, for the first ten issues of that series, with the Wolverine ongoing launching almost immediately after. He wanted Wolverine to be in disguise, so he came up with the Patch identity and gave him this suit to lean into a ninja motif for Wolverine. The suit itself has nothing to do with the Black Blade other than the Blade being in a couple issues of Claremont's run. Claremont's run was pretty brief - the Marvel Presents issues, and then 8 of the first 9 issues of the ongoing (with a fill-in by Peter David in like issue 7 or so). Peter David then took over the next arc for six issues, and then another writer took over from there. One of Wolverine's supporting characters was Jessica Drew (yes, that Jessica Drew). When Peter David took over, I guess he disliked the Patch identity, so he had Wolverine immediately switch to the brown suit and had Jessica flat out tell Wolverine everyone knew he was Patch but no one wanted to say anything. So the black suit basically disappeared after that except for flashbacks.

Yeah I bought this figure a few weeks ago it’s not bad at all. Still waiting for the Age of Apocalypse weapon X figure they come out next year and that three pack love triangle or whatever the hell they want to call it with wolverine cyclops and Jean Grey looks awesome.
I just got retro Wolverine, Cyclops, Iceman, Dazzler all for 4.99 each at Target via price match with Walmart. Wish they had Storm and Silver Samurai but I'm happy with the 4 I got for the price of one
Even though I'm not a fan of digital print paint, I'm still appreciative that we got something. Who in the world wouldn't want that blue in Logan's hair 😳? It'd be like someone not wanting the green shading in Hulk's hair. it's a shame that the reissue of this head (without the mask) doesn't have the blue shading.
This toys are for 3 years old kids also teenagers kids 3 years old babies adults like for anyone but not for 1 year old and not for 2 year old but I like the Black Patch Wolverine is so badass
The only new wolverines I wish hasbro would make are a new astonishing wolverine, a LEATHER JACKET cowboy hat casual wolverine (like the Mezco Logan), and most of all (for me) a tuxedo wolverine! I just hope Hasbro (and all toy companies for that matter) fix those unmasked Logan headsculpts, especially with marvel legends he's been looking hecka ugly

The calves are from the Weapon X figure, and the wrist bands are from the Jim Lee Cyclops. Nice with spotting where the feet came from. Definitely a bit oversized. Maybe those small Cyclops feet would've worked better.
I wish there was an alternate head without the black across his face included... Probably needs a sheath too, although if it's not on him in the comics then it's understandable. I'll wait for the Black Friday sale as well before I fork out the benjamins lol. Other than Silver Sam and Storm the rest of this set ain't worth 20.00 a pop to me without having the baf piece.

I’m so stoked for this figure! Sword Quest was my introduction to Wolverine comics, and this is exactly how he looked on the Patch trading card from the 1990 set. First thing I did after cracking it open was put the Patch head sculpt and the new X-Force Wolvie claws on him. Definitely my new favorite Wolverine figure!
