Buick Door Panel Restoration - Install Vinyl fabric

Using contact cement to glue the vinyl fabric to the door panel.

What backer board did you use? The original in mine appears to be one grade above corrugated cardboard box but isn't quite fiberboard.

I used these panel boards: www.automotiveinteriors.com/cowlboard-door-panel-boards-for-cars-and-trucks-s/17346.htm
They were about $50 with shipping for 2. They're big boards. With just 2 I was able to make those giant front door panels, as well as the smaller rear passenger panels that go below the rear 1/4 window. They're pretty strong, almost like wood. I was able to drive sheet metal screws through them. In the end I used stamped flat nuts to hold the screws, because I worried that over time the threads would pull out.
