That Yakuza dialogue was kind of weak for me, both of those two are SEGA's most story driven series, doing the "Story with a small sandbox" before all these big triple A companies were.

Or maybe Hiryu knows of his potential but refuses to teach him because he is still on a neutral point, and that potential still hasn't defined if it'll destroy his soul or strengthen it.

I never played the Shenmue games due to not having a Dreamcast, but Ryo comments & voice, sounds so relaxing and cute. The song is also very powerful and has a nice and relaxing feel to it. I should try to play this games.

You can clearly tell multiple script writers and translators were working on this game at the same time. Some of them get lazy while others clearly put in effort... some times too much effort.
I hope Shenmue 3 does justice to Ryo's character. He's such a neat young dude, he really hasn't gotten any love since Shenmue 2. The common struggles he had (like just holding down a job) made him a lot more relatable than your typical video-game character.

Even though I have no attachment to Shenmue,, it still feels very bittersweet listening/seeing these interactions after all of the crap that happened with Shenmue 3.
Considering how his style has evolved, it would be fun to use him in a VF game. He would like be a more accesible version of Akira, even though I think Ryo would lose the SPOD and have it replaced with something he learned from Shenmue 2 or 3. Among other small details. Akira would be more defensive, reversal oriented. Ryo would be more offensive and with more mix ups.
