We all know Apple is an American company and enjoys making a large chunk of their revenue domestically. But Apple sells their products in many international markets and even has retail stores in 24 foreign countries. Some of those markets, like Japan, have access to Apple products at a price comparable to the US. For example an iPhone XS costs 112,800 yen in Japan, which is about 1,058 USD. And when you consider the country’s 8% sales tax is included in that price, it actually makes the iPhone XS about $20 cheaper than in the US. Although this fluctuates depending on the conversion rate. But not every country is lucky enough to pay comparable prices for Apple products. To buy the base model iPhone XS, you’d have to pay $1,235 in Mexico, $1,285 in India, $1,454 in Sweden, and $1,800 in Brazil. And these high prices have prompted customers to fly to the US just to buy a new iPhone. So why exactly are Apple products so expensive in these countries? Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to find out today.
Thanks to NordVPN for sponsoring this video! - Наука та технологія
Not only Apple products are expensive in Brazil, everything is.
And other South American countries.
Not if you are in CDE 😂
@cgwworldministries Its a sad place to live. The only good thing about Brazil is the fact we don't have earthquakes or tsunami risk.
At least in Brazil you are allowed to bring back a phone from the US, no matter its price, without declaring it to customs.
But yeah, everything is expensive here.
*Cries in 0.25 cents*
Whats wrong with this continent?
The only thing I don't understand -
iPhone XS US: $999
iPhone XS GER: 1149€
Note10 US: $949
Note10 GER: 949€
yeah like here in croatia the iPhone XS Max with 256gb is about 1550€, while the note 10+ with same storage is 1050€
@System64 apple is american while samsung is korean so there is something that has to do with that
Actually $949 is still less than 949€
Walid Fakhfakh Google is also american and they also converted the price 1:1. Almost only Apple is not doing this and that was my point.
This video is BS. Coz iPhone Xr in India is $1000 and New Galaxy Note 10 costs $900.
His videos fails as soon as we compare his explanation to other companies.
Being a European, I actually buy my Apple products when I travel to the states because the price difference is that major.

But buy the time you have added on your air fare it surely doesn’t make any difference?
@@davidjacobs6244 Exactly. The. Problem.
Not in Germany. I live about 5km away from an Apple Store. The store is always full of people who pay these prices too. But one should mention that Apple products are not that much more expensive here than in the US.
David Jacobs well, if you're already going on vacation why not getting something cheaper?

Umm, in bulgaria it's around 1240 dollars, not 1360, but still a lot for us
Literally everything here is expensive
In Nigeria it's more like $2,200 🤣😩
And iPhones are a strong status symbol.
Only the rich use them here and the resale price is so good that u can sell it for almost the price of a brand new one or even higher. It's that rare
but thats nothing for the nigerian princes

The old can be sold for a new price.
A Nigerian prince *WAS* going to give me an iPhone but when I paid the 2000 dollars to ship it he said he needed to keep it.

It’s also expensive in Canada too. My iPhone 11 was 1000$ when in the states it’s 699$. It’s seen as a budget phone to most but 1000$ for a phone isn’t budget friendly to me. My MacBook Air was also advertised as just over 1400$ here, yet it came to around 1700$ after tax, not much cheaper than a pro.
Love the new profile picture it looks so good
The new logo design is *PERFECT!* So stay on the current logo (and intro) please!
I appreciate you making this video. I feel it quite strongly here in South Africa. It can be difficult to be an Apple fan in my country. Products are regularly twice as expensive as they are in the US. I enjoy the Apple ecosystem from the cheap seats. That being said, there is still a whole lot of Apple goodness to love, even if you don't have the latest tech. My iPhone 8, MacBook Air 2014, iPad Air (original 2013) and Apple Watch Series 2 does the job quite nicely.
Fortunately for us, however, our carriers are still very much into providing monthly plans with phone subsidies, based on a two or three year contract. That helps us to purchase some more expensive phones on a monthly plan rather than all at once. Unfortunately, what might also play a role in South Africa is the importance of perceived status. Luxury brands do really good business here. There are many people that will live in a run down home, made of scraps and have no furniture, yet have a recent Mercedes Benz, wear expensive clothes and own Apple products, expensive watches, etc.
The truth in this ❤️

Most of the people I knew few years back (including me) used iPhones, but now a lot of them use Android. Even though the popularity and amount of iPhone users are declining here, there is still a decent percentage of the population who use iPhones, and they are quite common.

using credit cards isn't due to a "buy now, pay later" mentality, it's due to an "i don't want to spend money without contributing to my credit rating" mentality. most people use credit cards attached to checking accounts. so they're not really spending money they don't have, it's hardly different than a regular debit card, but if you only use a debit card you're gonna be credit invisible when you finally do need some kind of financing

Double warranty up to a year
90-day return policy
90-day drop/spill/accident protection

Some friends of mine went to the US and they asked me if I wanted something and I told them I wanted an Apple Watch (of course I paid for it). Initially I wanted it from the US as it was cheaper (about $50) but then I simply enjoyed the fact that’s from another country.
Yo your new logo is a MASTERPIECE!
Think its also important to consider the conversion rate of the USD to local currencies. Apple generally fixes the price for the full year after an apple product is launched, the dollar fluctuates but apple's prices do not change, so in some cases apple takes the hit, sometimes customers do but they get a constant price for the year. Example iPhone XR in US is $749USD which equates to $1110 AUD, but RRP on the phone is $1249 AUD
There were scenarios when iPhone XR was cheaper than one plus 7 pro during prime day. So apple is pushing XR like crazy in India.
