I can take magic tape and other adhesive off of books by a hair dryer without any issue. I'm not sure about that material. Give it a go :)

I have used that in the past, most of this tape is coming off pretty easily though.

I quite like finding details of whoever bought it etc but I'm guessing that collectors don't?

Yes, generally, unless it's someone famous, I try to take previous owners names, dedications and dates etc, out.
