it's annoying when people who never played football repeatedly call out players for diving when they're just protecting themselves. it's stupid to see a kick coming at you and stay put just to get a free kick. of course you should jump out the way and that ain't diving
There doesn't have to be contact for there to be a foul. Think about it this way. If a player swung at an opponent, would he get a red card? Absolutely. Since referees don't follow the rules, players usually have to weight for contact in order to get fouls awarded in favor of them.
