@@henryatkinson1479 yeah but it is pretty stable I would say it has a pseudo stabilizer like the panthers, your gun is pretty stable at low speeds and even high speeds on good terrain.
I love my standard M46 and it absolutely typifies the kind of vehicle that gives those powerful German WW2 tanks (Tiger 2 etc) a rough time, given its greater agility and HEAT-FS. The standard tech tree M46 might actually be more capable than the premium M46 Tiger, having slightly better side and rear armour and the optional add-on turret cage (but of course worse post-battle rewards). When I'm playing properly and focusing (I do die unnecessarily soooo often!), I get strong results with my M46 and I can play it broadly like a less nimble but better protected M41 or M24 - doing a lot of hiding quite far forward and quickly stepping out from behind cover to hit the gunners, breaches, ammo etc of unsuspecting enemies. Four of its ammo types are viable too: the HEAT-FS being strongest; APCBC for explosive side-shots; smoke; and the APCR for those rare times when you are shooting at someone tough through a wall or such such like. All its ammo is packed tightly in the base of the hull (apart from its very vulnerable ready-rack), not spread all over the tank, so you might as well take quite a lot of it - which means you can have plenty of smoke ammo and go all tactical with it when you want to.
Since posting above, I've settled into a very strong pattern with the tech tree M46, T95 and T29. A powerful combo, for sure. Much, much easier to get good results with them at 7.0 than in my usual 8.0 USA lineup (in realistic ground forces). At 7.0 the balance is definitely towards slightly more downtiers than uptiers, whereas at 8.0 it's the opposite. And if I just take the T95 on downtiers, on the right maps, it does really well too. The T29 is almost the definition of a reasonably reliable killer (even after its br increased to 7.0 a while ago). So it's a really nice group of tanks, even without me buying the premium M46 Tiger at 7.0 too (I instead just have the M56 from 6.7 as backup, and an airplane). And I feel like the recent volumetric changes in War Thunder helped the M46 (and presumably the M46 Tiger premium), as its HEAT-FS round penetrates things regardless, and its own army is nice and curvy and trolly.
Honestly I think the m46 is the perfect tank to counter German mains such as myself. It has a nice Heat round that can penetrate us, but it also is vulnerable to our great APHE.
@@troutwarrior6735 YEah. Agree. I basically just stick to my very well crewed USA 6.3-8.0 lineups (I have higher ones but don't bother). It's only the M46 that really seems to tear through the Germans, while truly out-agile-ing them. I notice in the new propodes BR changes that the Leopard 1 will drop from 7.7 to 7.3 in realistic battles (while the T25 for example will go up to 6.3!) Leopard 1 at 7.3 can very easily compete with the M46, sadly for me!
Meh armour which may save you but you can’t rely on, good manoeuvre-ability, alright gun but gets a very good cheat-fs shell for its br, jack of all trades but master of none. That’s usually a good thing in WT. It certainly seems to be in this case. A shame Gaijin wants your legs if you want a tier 4 and up premium vehicle. It’s the only thing that makes me scream no at it being worth it. They ask too much. I can bought chassis bracing for my car instead of this. I was seriously considering it. I don’t regret buying performance car parts instead of a WT vehicle. Gaijin should half the price of everything in their game and I might actually start buying things like I used to.
IMO this is an excellent example of what a premium vehicle should be - a comparable, sidegrade or slightly worse version of a tech tree vehicle. Other vehicles like this would be the IS-2 Revenge, Typhoon Mk. Ib or T-44-122. The selling point should be its increased rewards not the performance itself. That being said, I love my M46 Tiger to bits! It has comparable rough terrain speed as a Leopard I but a much worse road speed. It's easy to surprise 7.7 German players by matching their mobility and being in places they wouldn't expect. The HEAT-FS also has some really good punch and the capped APHE is essentially a "nuke round". Really good tank and good review!
Yeah I love my M46. I play at up to 9.7 as usa, and was playing as 8.0 for ages recently. But I feel far less vulnerable and more commanding now I've dropped down to 7.0 with that lineup (ground RB). The M46 is the kind of tank where, if you focus on what you're doing, you can do pretty much anything.
@@raptorhacker599 It's one of the few USA tanks I haven't tried. I basically jumped straight from 7.0 to 7.7 as far as line-ups go. I don't feel like I see it very often.
I can count on one hand the amount of players i met who have higher than 2:1 k/d with it. Good tank but only works in the hands of very skilled players.
You did the next round also in, I was abit lost in this round but the kill, where you where in the a2d and i killed you with the 14,7 machine gun was nice xD enjoy your videos
Yes, the M46 is a MASSIVE improvement over the M26. The M26’s underwhelming mobility combined with it’s meh armor makes it (imo) a bad medium tank overall.
indah nursanti It has a big ammo rack in the front of the turret that basically everyone aims for. And with how high velocity and high-penning German guns are around 6.7 (which you constantly get up-tiered too), it seems like it’s pretty easy for them to hit the flat part of the gun mantle and penetrate. That’s just my experience tho
“Taking a look at the weapon reloading skill under the loaders section, you can see the gun has a base reload of 7.5 Seconds, and drops down to 7.5 seconds with an aced crew..” Uh.. I guess it uses an autoloader after all? Other than that hiccup, great review!
i have the normal m46 and not worth to be bought with real money, in its tier it starts to face very strong tanks and several faster vehicles, is a good brawler owever but not worth money
I bought this tank a year or more ago and i have never regretted it. Its fantastic! Armor is alright, HEATFS and gun are great and the speed and maneuverability are also great. Hands down my favorite tank, cant recommend it enough!
This badboy with the 7.7 premium T114 auto loader tank anddddd the premium prop A2D-1 is theeee ultimate wallet warrior grinder lineup, An absolute masterclass. Go ahead an try and top that, it’s impossible. If WarThunder would also toss in a premium spaa into the mix, it may just be easier too gift 10,000GE for those with that lineup too save multiple keyboards an mouses from getting smashed outta anger by non pay to play opp team while gettin smoked in every single match at that BR. However take that lineup away and im back to gettin 1-2 tanks and same for planes in grb at most but just remember kids it’s only embarrassing when sayin your not pay to play when you got top tier matches and bein lucky to get 1-2 kills at the most, then it’s obvious 💁🤷🏻♂️lol

I know I said this last vid but can you do a t54e1 vid.I think it’s an interesting tank to say the least but massively underrated plz do a vid on it!!Anyway love your vids keep it up!!
I prefer the Magach even though it's a lower BR with lots of smoke and ERA that is often (but not always) useful. Despite the rapid reload I find the t54e1 a constant struggle and so rarely use it any more.
Get gud lol. But if you are struggling with heat you should look at the x-rays of your opponents, heat isn’t like the aphe you’re used to it has horrible post pen but if you aim for crew or ammo you can usually one shot people.
The M46’s suspension is so good it almost acts like a stabilizer.
