      His targeting the back so it would not have the range of motion since the back,s range of motion is shorter than that of the arms

      Why? HIs back was straight, shoulder blades were retracted, controlled pace. What was wrong?

      @@Thisisahandle701he is missing the stretch. He is not lowering it far enough. The eccentric portion of the rep is more important than the contracted on back. He is leaving gains on the table
