Ive been a queen fan for a long time. But i never knew this song until it was in the seth rogan movie Observe amd report. I heard it and said...this guy sounds like freddie mercury. Who is this? Queen?! How did I not know this song before! May be in my top 5 queen songs...maybe top 3? (There's just way too many good ones)
always been my favourite Queen song, the perfect rock song which has everything from all 4 of them, brians gritty guitar and rasping solo, deac's driving pounding bass, freddie's strong vocal and roger's drum rolls with a delicious over blown ending! just the best 👑✊🇬🇧
Sleeping on the Sidewalk was also recorded by the band “live” in the studio, part of the intention to simplify the Queen approach on this album. All Dead, All Dead is another Brian May song from this album, with Brian on piano. I think Freddie’s high point on this album (well, one of them, he has many) is My Melancholy Blues, although I prefer the BBC version to the album version.
Love seeing your reaction. From a band that had so many incredible moments this is their top one in my opinion. All four members totally in-synch and on the top of their game and a very raw and live sound. Absolutely sublime genius.
Top five. Such a hidden gem. Meaty in all aspects and one of those few songs where John shows his mettle. Also the recording has a very naturalistic sound space. A dirty bluesy riff by Brian and atypical riff in the middle. Great lyrics. Fantastic. You and I is another fave.
“It’s Late” Was the last single from the News of the world album; it was released in 1978 but only in the US, Canada, Japan and New Zealand. It charted at number 74 in the US, it failed to chart everywhere else for some reason.
Two from this album: Spread Your Wings (contrasts in my mind, Save Me) Melancholy Blues which is almost a 100% Freddie song. Another May song sung by Freddie: Dreamer's Ball from Jazz which contrasts Melancholy Blues.
I got to hang out with a friend from junior high school recently. He fronts a local rock band. And we both loved Queen too. When I spent some time reminiscing about the late seventies and how we had seen Queens news of the world tour he felt the need to put this track on. One of Queens strongest songs in his opinion.
Loved this from the first play - the scratchy riff and Freddie's voice so stripped back, the rock n roll breaks in the middle and end. And Freddie's voice is A-MAZING throughout
Darling (sorry, had to say it), this is MY favorite Queen song. Where has it been hiding? Well, it's in the same record as "We Will Rock You", "We Are the Champions" and "Spread You Wings". It's hard to compete with that when deciding to release a single.
I love your enthusiasm at the end of the song! That is Queen! And throughout my childhood this was the constant effect I experienced with every new song they composed.
This is my favourite Queen song. Me and all my mates all got the ‘News of the World’ album, for Christmas when it first came out. We all had ‘It’s Late’ as our favourite track. It’s a wonder that I didn’t wear the song out, or go deaf listening to it.
Yes, it is one of my favourites, just love Freddie’s vocals and you are right you can’t sit still to this one. When you listen again, take note of the high notes... yes, that is Freddie! ❤️Freddie❤️
@@DoeDarling have you listened to Improvisation live at Wembley 1986? You should do that Freddie Live half way through concert... Awesome ❤️Freddie❤️ x
My opinion has been, for decades, this is the greatest song they ever did, so many change ups in it, and for other Queen songs, check out the rest of the album, its so diverse and plum full of fantastic songs
First Time I ever heard It's Late. Was seeing Queen live at the Springfield Civic Center in 1977. I was totally enthralled with the song. It was one of the better songs from that night.
over here in the states - ny this did get some airplay but not enuff back in 77-78 we will rock you /champions was getting most of the airplay on fm radio glad you dig it
One of my favorite albums of 1977 (and there were many that year!). I was just out of High School, turning wrenches (spanners) on British Cars in Southern California...and trying to get a handle on the whole "Rock Guitar Thing" (which had really exploded by then!). This was part of THE appropriate "soundtrack" for those times!!
Me, definitely! I must admit my favourite Queen years are from their first L.P. Up to around 1982...but I have been following later works with the help of people like yourself even to 1991 when we lost Freddie. I even wonder, now, how the ban could have progressed into the 21st Century...but what happened, did, and no one can change history. The Legacy is here to stay and tomorrow,s people will love it just as much.
Love your reaction to this gem of a song. You have great taste!!!! This has been my favourite Queen song through all these years since I first played The News of the World album in 1977. I could never understand why it wasn’t released as a single, world-wide. It would have been mahoosive!!!!! Brian May rocks! 🖤🖤🖤
Yes, it is one of my favorites. It was on the "News of the World" album but was overshadowed by "we are the Champions" and "We Will Rock You". That is sad but it just tells you how good they are.
"Freddie sounds so delicious"...that's brilliant! This is the 3rd Queen reaction video of yours that I stumbled upon (the 1st was 20 minutes ago).I love that you actually talk about the songs. A lot of folks don't. Stay safe and keep doing what you do!
One of my fav Queen songs since I was a kid. Freddie's interpretation gives me goosebumps every time, even after 25 years of listening. Next Queen reaction video listen to "The March Of The Black Queen" or "Jealousy" :)
One of the best Queen songs EVER! You should have seen it live in 1977! Possibly one of Brian's MOST UNDERRATED solos EVER! You should do what I did, and go listen to LITERALLY EVERY SONG they ever recorded, from the beginning! Album by album! You WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
In general, they have so many underrated gems its almost criminal! One totally underrated song I highly recommend where Brian sings lead is "long away."
This one I think, if you analyze the lyrics is about Brian hooking up with a girl and feeling guilty but also conflicted as he felt at least for a bit very attracted to her. So maybe it’s not one he wanted to perform a lot. Just a guess. There are so many hidden gems in the Queen list. I believe there are 16 albums and 188 songs plus some of their own albums. Lots to discover! 😊
I simply love all the songs of QUEEN. Too hard to choose only one song. I love ALL their songs ! Friendly from France. A true fan of QUEEN and Freddie since I was a teenager. 🎭🙂😽🐾🐾🥂👑👑👑👑⚜🎭🐈
This is one of my favorite songs... Shame it wasn't a single but it appears in the News Of The World album and the whole album is an experience also with mega super all time hits like we are the champions and we will rock you .
In one of your earlier reactions (Live Aid I think), you said you're a big fan of Queen/Freddie, but you hadn't heard Hammer to Fall, then you haven't heard Innuendo or It's Late.
I am in LOVE with hammer to fall, especially the live version at Live Aid, I have done a reaction to Live Aid if you haven't checked it out already, thanks for watching!
Hi: I suggest you listen to "Keep Passing the Open Windows" it is my favorite Queen song, it has a lot of energy, unfortunately it is not well known, but it deserves much more, I hope you enjoy it Take care
I know I'm late seeing this, but so glad I found it. It'a my favorite Queen song. You would probably like Let Me Live and Let My In Your Heart Again as well.
If you like fast-paced Queen songs, check out Dead On Time, Brighton Rock, Stone-Cold Crazy and Let Me Entertain You. Also, check out Hocus Pocus by Focus - especially the 1973 Midnight Special live version.
Welcome back Joe Darling. I think you will love Too Much Love Will Kill You. Brian wrote it when he was going through his marriage break up. There are two versions, one sung by Freddie with a video of compilations from other music videos. And there is one sung by Brian. Both are beautiful but I think Brian’s just pips Freddie’s but only because it’s more personal given that he wrote it. I hope you love it like I do
Hi Doe...great song reaction...one of my all time favourite Queen songs!! As a modern comparison, check out out The version of Its Late performed at The Hollywood Bowl with Queen and Adam Lambert!!! Really good, look forward to your reaction Doe!
queen live in Copenhagen 1978 has one of the best versions, so i'd love to see your reaction to that one:). if you want a better quality audio, I would recommend queen live in chicago 1978 or live in providence, same year. unfortunately freddie on these two concerts wasn't on the best voice, but i think they deserve a listen anyways musically, most live It's late versions are in a very good level, but vocally is such a demanding song.
"It's Late", and I may be late to this particular party, but - if anyone ever asks me for a school book example of "eargasm", I will refer them to this video! ;-) I really enjoyed seeing you this overwhelmed by this song. It has been one of my favourites ever since I first heard it. You may also want to try "Dead On Time" from the 1978 "Jazz" album - one more true rocker.
Best song of "news of the world " with 'spread your wings'.
Great reaction
Yes one of their best. Should have been a big hit.

It was an album track never released as a single except a.shorter version abroad can't remember where 🤷♂️🤔
@@highinquisitor9462 no it wasn't as it was an album track so never released as.single in UK 🤷♂️
I'm glad it wasn't, hidden on the back of side 2 on News of The World an album track and a monster too
Queen has a lot of underrated songs
My first exposure was to the 2nd, red greatest hits album.
Almost a decade before i got into the stuff from the 1st blue greatest hits album
_THAT'S_ an understatement! 😉
Fantastic song...and a beautiful girl
Correct reaction, well done. Love this song. I was 15 at the time and played it to death. Still as good even after 45 years!

Yeah all four of them on fire on this track - Love it
Brian wrote another son for this album called "Sleeping On The Sidewalk", and it's a bit Bluesy and it's a real groovy song!
Ooh sounds interesting!
In freddie voice.. Sound to me like an Aerosmith song.... Sleeping in a sidewalk... Live!!!
He also wrote “All Dead”
Sleeping on the Sidewalk was also recorded by the band “live” in the studio, part of the intention to simplify the Queen approach on this album. All Dead, All Dead is another Brian May song from this album, with Brian on piano.

if you love this you gotta check Spread Your Wings
Oh I love that song!! Spread your little wings and fly awaaaaay! Freddies voice sounds great on this
Oh yes, and live is amazing.
Another of my favourite Queen songs!
Bless you, and your reaction. Too Late is by a country mile the most under-rated Queen song and thank you for giving it your attention.
There greatest hidden gem. Deaccy’s bass work is fantastic on this
The best Album from Queen: News of the World...
For me......
X 2! 🍻
“It’s Late” Was the last single from the News of the world album; it was released in 1978 but only in the US, Canada, Japan and New Zealand. It charted at number 74 in the US, it failed to chart everywhere else for some reason.
This entire album, News Of The World is stunning. Every song kicks azz. I saw this tour when I was just a kid. INCREDIBLE
Two from this album:
Spread Your Wings (contrasts in my mind, Save Me)
Melancholy Blues which is almost a 100% Freddie song.

A very underrated song that is simply brilliant! I love the constant changes and it is so catchy and yes I love this song.
It is a gem - in the day of the album we would have known it. But now, a joy for those of us who came late(r) to Queen and feel it to be a discovery.
I was given a copy of this album for Christmas 1977. It's Late has grown on me over the years. It's great.😁
Love your reaction to this gem of a song. You have great taste!!!!

Omg. This song touch me from the first time. Even when I didn't understand a word in English.

One of my favourite songs from my favourite group. Great song.

Absolutely right: one of their best songs ever but underrated until today. Good save the Queen ....
What a song. A blues rocker with Queen mixed in.
My favorite song from Need Of The World I love it
Great song ... one of my favorites! Freddie’s voice is sexy! PAIN IS SO CLOSE TO PLEASURE ..... has a very Motown feel to it.
Yes, there is a live version of this where, if I remember right Freddie knocked a speaker down.
