It may help clarifying that boat alignment on the waves is also critical besides making sure the wind is on your back. Having the boat perpendicular on the direction of the wind/waves may work in nice rolling waves where the lateral movements of the ski are more predictable but less so in steeper waves/chop. Here I find placing the ski aligned with the wave/wind direction providing the needed stability after landing in the bucket. From this perspective wind in the back is not crucial; it works with wind in the face as well. This is obvious when launching- unless the water is flat I don't orient the ski parallel to the shore to get it...
Oscar the greatest surf ski champion ever how many times he won Molokai has proven that you always help people and give advice how to catch waves how to remount how to brace what's the most important paddle your bracing we thank you from Hawaii father information you give us to help us become better with our surf skis, Aloha
This has been really helpful as I just started with the surfski. I also slide or pull the boat under me instead of jumping up and on to the boat which saves energy and keeps you balance low as you have mentioned. Really appreciate your videos.
@@OscarChalupskySurfski I wanted to take a minute to thank you and the Nelo team for the design of the 560. What a wonderful boat! My 2018 7 ML accelerates faster than anything I've ever paddled, which makes it able to catch almost anything - much more lively than any boat I've tried! 👍🏼👍🏼
Always something to learn. Never thought of edging over to empty some of the water. Cheers Oscar 👍🏼
Nice demo. Another tip you talked about elsewhere is to keep your offside hand on the gunnel as long as you can. That tip has been helpful.
Thank you for slowing it down, Oscar. Great video.
Very helpful., thanks! I really like that you don't even have to lift your bum at all to get it in, just rotating it back in instead

Nice one, thanks Oscar...you make it look se easy, and that's on the 560.
Thanks for the detailed explanation.
Video mast Bracia-Sport paddles. What do you mean? Is it the half of standard bracia shaft?
The filming mast is a Braca lightweight shaft, with the normal length adjuster.
Extreme conditions? Looks like a nice day
The camera always makes it look small. It was blowing over 30 knots and swell was 15 feet
Obrigado.
Gran vídeo una masa
Que buena pala broder
Braca IV min
Great remount video - but no leg leash or paddle leash.
David Grainger yes must always have but I was filming so didn’t take it
