WE’RE BACK BOYS!
Welcome back!
The weight difference between steel bead and foldable is minimal when your just holding it. But there’s a major difference in rotational weight as your riding. I switch to the Ećlat mirage folding tires 4 years ago and the rotational weight is a game changer in my opinion
Totally! The first upgrade that everyone should do is lighten up the wheels and tires, even a little goes a long way in that aspect.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, didn't realize the colored tires wear out quicker
I used to love spinning tires and doing powerslides on tioga powerblocks. theyre plain beadless nylon tires that get flat spots when they sit for a long time but they're still the funnest to ride on imo
I have had great experience with Merritt option tires black 20"x2.35". Low rolling resistance, tough against flats, and decent price. I tried another tire lately, but after 3 miles, I decided to buy 2 more Merritt option tires for the bike. Haven't used the folding version yet. All steel bead I talking about here.
Phu!! Get a tat bro!! 😂😂 Love and appreciate y’all’s content!! Happy holidays 🎉🎉
thx for another great informative video!
Currently rocking pair black 2.4 front and 2.3 rear Odyssey Dugan tyres, fast; durable; great for street and park...
great video, i will never change from my maxxis grifter tyres. black tyres and grips always feel better for some strange reason
I think the compound is the optimal mix when it’s black
oh ok yeah i notice it, phu’s hair was done he got a rude joke in at the end haha
Colored tires last a summer before become plastic feeling and garbage, I agree on that tread design kind of doesn't matter except for us in the midwest, winter time snow riding we run old skool knobbies, they are superior for that. Happy holidays to all of you guys
Dude!! So accurate!!
riding 2.5 merrit phantoms on my front and maxxis grifter 2.4 in the back, best combo for me. I have to agree with the colored tires living in a tropical country, I ran those fly ruben tires (which I really love) and after 6 months they where stiff and slippery, had merrit option tires with violet color also ran with the same issue.
YUP!!
Спасибо за ваши видео и такой хороший канал!!! Интересно смотреть!
🤩🙌👍👍🌞 thank you guys. Especially That info about non black tires 💯🤟
Of course :)
I've got purple demolition tires, had them 3 years with my bike stored indide. I rode a wooden park that allows skateboards is the only place they've been really slippery other than at 100 psi
Great video!!❤
The dog was just tryna chill with y’all 😂
Woah I haven't seen Animal ASM in a decade. Fit FAF front and Animal ASM rear used to be the set-up in my town haha.
Maxis grifters are dope but there a pain to put on and take off the hammer head T are dope but the basically Air up to a 2.5 and not all frames and forks can fit that just bought the new eclat vapor trail tires so curious to see how these feel and there’s a couple tires out there that say 2.4 but there really not
I know balance is everything...trying to master tire slides so I can ride brakeless and not die...but I'm wondering if my super grippy Cult x VANS tires are keeping me grounded lol. Let me know if I just suck and need to keep practicing. also a vid on how to master slide outs for slowing down would be great. Not much content out there on that
I rode a street tire at a dirt park and slid out many times. Switched to a knobby tire and it was grip for days. I heard that all tires were the same. What do I know?
These videos are the best
From experience (I've been riding for 30+ years), coloured tires are not that bad for quality, but to me it's all black, and maybe white, but that's it. Tires with all these little graphics (pot leaf, small elephants, snake pattern) are little girls tires to me. As for thread designs, NO slick tires, ever. I've tried everything, low pressure, high pressure, black tires, coloured tires... they WILL slide like crazy on me. Everywhere. Cement, dirt, wood, sometimes even on asphalt! They don't slide only if it's that old asphalt full of rocks. On the newer, smoother type of asphalt, they slide! If there's just a tiny bit of sand there, you will crash. It's gotta have threads! Not super knobby, but something like cult/vans tires, or momentuns. These are AWESOME by the way! 🤙
Oh, and I've had a few problems with kevlar beads, and on my #1 bike I ride steel bead momentum tires, but on my #2 bike I ride kevlar beads with NO problems now. And the weight difference makes a huge difference when riding (compared to other tires, the momentums are steel bead but as light as kevlar tires)
And yet the Tour Defrance with some segments having average downhill speeds of 45mph on the fastest, curviest mountain roads in the world..they all use slicks and somehow dont slide off the mountain doing crazy speeds around corners. They will slip in sand, but aside from that...they offer more traction than any other type of tire because there is more contact to the road, tire compound is what matters. Science absolutely shatters your experience myth, maybe you didn't get the right slick tires. Throw a set of WTB thickslicks on.
Well, it wasn't just me, many of my friends also had problems with slick tires on BMX. And they were good quality, name-brand tires. But maybe they weren't soft enough to grip the asphalt better. As for me, after over 35 years riding, I'll stick to the not-so slick, not to knobby tires, like momentums, cult vans or even GT's LP-5s. The new ones are awesome!
I have great experience with the eclat mirrage
Just bought a new scooter because traffic is crazy now in Malaysia... need to ask max how he mount a bmx on his scooter...Happy holidays guys 🥳🥳🥳...
I agree. That's why i only use black tyres and not foldable. Foldable are less durable than the not foldable.
Can you put 20X2.5 tires to 20X4.0 rims?
What’s the best tire for mag wheels?
It's true that colored tires are getting hard or slippery if you use it daily. For the cult tire is good for bike park. It's a lot new tire now a days🇵🇭
7:47 i’ve seen people blow out folding tires with tubolito tubes then they need a new tyre and tube again i’ve always stuck to wire bead tyres and Kenda heavy duty innertubes I don’t care about weight much and ride street more than anything else at the moment with all this cold weather, we’re getting in England 🚲💨
Yea tu elites are way too pricey for my liking
Og primo wall tire would get glossy after awhile also didn't really stick to walls that well oddly enough.
I had those pink tires but in green they hardened and became slick in like 2-3 months
Thank you.
The Eddie Bravo of the bike world.
The Reuben fuegos tires are colored and last at least for me two years so far with no slippage. Seems to have the same grip but as any other black tire I've owned. Those cheap colored ones though different story LOL
Haha yea the lower the grade the crappier they get for sure
I can just fit a 2.35 primo wall on my 03 condor , I can barley fit a piece of paper between my seat stays in the tire
whats the store yall at
Odyssey AARON ROSS V2 tire gum w/ black walls. After a few years got hard as a rock and would slip no matter what you were riding.
I use semi slick black tires, still from the factory (3 or4 years) and those suckers don't slip, not even on ice, the thread is also like new.
🤓 🚲
What shop is this
Oh and if you wet silicone your tyres every 3 to 6 months you can rejuvenate the rubber. Like a moisturising your skin for rubber. Think this would work well on those coloured tyres to keep them fresh. Need to take off to do properly though. Side walls and tread. Soaked. Then dry off with a rag and air gun so the silicone is all gone and those fresh tyres can stick again.
🤯
Silicone is the cheapest and best way to rejuvenate rubber. Like a cream to leather as well.
Use an auto spray can. Still pure silicone. Don't breath it in though.👍
8:12 animal bikes did a folding tyre call the ASMR but I don’t know if you can get them anymore ? 🚲💨
This is true! And I think they’ve been discontinued since then
What is the max size 20" tyre i can put in a 1995 haro sport frame?
1.95
Dahm go those 2.20 hpf tyres coming. They only sell a 2.00 in the lineage though. Will that fit??
Is there any sealed 1" headset that runs a gyro(gen 1)? Yst looked like they were close to old school running the sealed and 1" threaded fork.. other than that it's back to a mori epoch headset for spring tensioning the old bearings up again
good info what an awesome bike shop owner
What kinda air do we put inside?
Designer
What’s the weight limit on these tires ? What tire holds a smooth 280lb man 🫤 also frame size what are the bmx bikes for taller folks 6ft maybe 🤔
Look into 22" bmx wheel bikes.
I've tried a at least 5to 6 different tires and I always go back to the momentums. I trust the tilt angle on them they are very grippy and saves me from sliding out. If there's any other tire out there that does the same I'll try them out for sure. Any suggestions?
Merritt phantoms are pretty decent and I’m looking to get a new pair this weekend because I left my bike out on the balcony for a year with white donnasqueaks and they got hard pretty quick…..
I remember getting my first momentum tires for free. They are pretty good.
But I still say all time best is wtp gripping rear foldable eclat cmd front. If khe made the dirt tires with the street casing they'd take best spot for both front and rear for anything other than pure street.
@@Reeeeeeekkkkkkkttttttt my back tire just popped I'm a try eclat ones I'm hearing a lot of good things about them hahah
Epic tattoo 🩸
I'm still waiting for 24 inch baby blue camo Cult tires to be produced for my cruiser ELF
Which tires should I use for a dusty indoor?!
Ngl i run Broc tires they grip to almost everything. If you want you can run Maxxis DTH thats what I use for racing for dirt , track ,or pumptrack.
Personally the Shadow contenders were super grippy for me
@@AlfredoMancuso You the man Alf I'ma have to check them out...wassup with that Billy Perry game of bike?! Lit in Dubai 🫠🫠
I'm riding mongoose tire with the flame grooves
Old school GT tires were always my fave. Good grip and lasted better than anything else at the time.
I had purple ones that would not wear out, and at the time I couldn't give them away.... wish I had them now just to sell em
I rode white gum wall gt tires the only thing I hate was after a couple of cleans the gumwall would rot out....looking for parts for my gt interceptor now....just finished my diamond back last nite....shit dope
@@teezbeats7531 comp IIIs did the same thing with the sidewalls.. miss those old days but I like to ride my new stuff more.
I see the Haro Freestyler box
Good tire
He should get an epic tattoo
Do you need 22 inch tires on a bmx if you have a bigger top tube on a 20 inch tire bike and why are 22 inch tire bmx uncommon
Does bike pump brand matter
Park brand does make solid stuff
Im running fly fuego steel bead tires. "So far so good." ^_^
😂
You guys should’ve had PHU in the tires 😅😂
The dog will eventually learn to find a better sleeping area, hopefully! 😆
The, Demolition momentum is the most slippery in, cement.
I was able to put a 2.4 on my 1989 dyno
Whats the difference between fat and thin tires in riding ?
Thin tires make spin tricks easier. Wide tires give you more cushion for jumping off of things
@@AlfredoMancuso narrow tires are lighter, faster and better for tech moves than fat tires.
Edit: Narrow tires suck when doing footjams, so put a barend into your forks
What's your take on SE Racing Cub tires? Need to replace tires on my 94 PK Ripper for Street, dirt, and ramps.
Fucken olive green Merritt tires spun out with me while turning lol I know how to hop off mine I was good
🔥🔥👍🏾
Some color tires aren’t bad but those fit ta color tires suck there super slippery even the black version
Those are the ones I almost had PHU mention 😂
Just commenting cause I want to see Phu with a tattoo
Phu should get a gear tattoo on his upper thigh so he always has a sprocket in his pocket
It’d be awesome for Phu to get an epic tattoo!!
Some tires are no good for broken glass on the road.
Sir are you a Filipino?
Hahahahaha he said no more hot stuff 😂😂😂😂
His stomach is wrecked 😂
@@AlfredoMancuso hahahaha I wonder if he would eat the chili paste that they put in pho hahaha Asians love that stuff!
🎉🎉🎉
💅
could I use 2.5" tires on a colony sweet tooth
No it will break it
Yabba dabba do
🐕
I am not a big bmx guy but I used to put a ton of miles on an electric mountain bike. The smooth tires worked very well on the street or hard packed trails. I could get more speed out of them. The disadvantage was braking in the rain wasn't great and they are horrible on loose dirt sand and mud. The knobbies are good on sand mud and loose dirt but not great on the street, you can't corner as hard with them, they do last about 4x longer. I tried a lot of different tires out and learned to buy a premium tire no matter what the type. The premium tires are more durable and last a lot longer in general. I liked the maxxis hookworms for the street. I would recommend the heavy duty tubes also. I ran the thicker ones and they blew out a lot less.
Colored tires do exactly what he is saying ive had gum colored vans tires and 2 sets of blacks...blacks last way longer
Why does Ethan’s dog keep getting stepped on?!
K, guys...
odyssey tan street tires took a turn at semi good speen down a hill both washed out ate it so hard knuckles looked like a murdered a guy
It's not colored but animal asm. Colored tires. Think they were fit fafs or the duo clones.
Tattoo!

Hahaha he does it to himself!
Dumb dog. You would think he would have learned by now! 😆

Cheap tires can kill you
I bet this dog is just a attention seeker. He sees a camera and starts screaming and acting like he has been hurt.
Regarding slipery tires I have black Odyssey ones and they where realy slippery today when I was riding on ice. I dont know why but maybe it was the sun 🤣
I totally buy this theory!!
Isn't this a repeat form like yr ago?
New tires new video
