Thank you for the helpful and nonjudgmental presentation. I face several obstacles to proper dental care and the temporary kits are all I have to treat myself at all. The alternative is an open cavity with pain. It's easy for some to say "You've got to see someone!" With cash at hand, maybe they can walk in and receive the best care. For the rest of us, these kits are life savers. Thank you for guidance during difficult times!
Thank you for your video! My filling of tooth #19 (next to tooth #20), was slightly loose and I scheduled a dentist appointment (new dental practice after the pandemic, and my old dentist retiring). Two days before my appointment, the filling came out during flossing, and the new dentist called in sick that week and on vacation the following. I was able to find a different dentist, however watching your video gave me peace of mind that if I did not find a good dentist within the same week, there was a back up plan.
What also helped is that my tooth situation looked very similar to the example in your video. My tooth did not hurt after the filling fell out, and it was not sensitive to hot or cold. I cleaned the hole between the teeth, after every meal. I purchased Dentemp from the local CVS (CVS did not carry the 3M ESPE Cavit G, and it would have taken a week for Amazon to deliver). I did not end up using the Dentemp, as I was able to see a dentist within 3 days of the filling falling out, and got a new filling. But again, I had a back up plan and a peace of mind. Thank you.
thank you so much for clarifying that it is indeed safe to use dental repair kits! my cavity filling came out last night during dinner and has been giving me discomfort, i called my dentist right away but they only have available appointments a month out so this is definitely a life saver!! i will be buying a pack so i can eat more comfortably
Glad it was helpful! Thank you very much for watching!
I like how direct and to the point this was. The other videos want to go off topic to much for me.
Thank you very much for watching!
Thank you so so much for this video. Lost a brand new filling tonight (Friday night, had it filled about a month ago, dentist opens Monday morning) and this video helped a lot!
You are so welcome!
Very helpful! This dentist has great skill of teaching.
Wow, thanks!
Tip: don't use too much. I over filled my cavity and it caused pain. I removed some and it feels better
Definitely agree
How do you remove it
How did you REMOVE the excess??
Very Carefully!!!
Update: I recommend not using this stuff at all. It caused my cavity to get infected, which resulted in a tooth extraction. Not worth the temporary fix imo.
Thanks, my appointment is set for next week but my filling came out. You’re a good man sir!
Glad to help, thank you very much for watching !
Thank you! I've had stuff for a while but was always afraid to use it. Thank you for the tips and advice.
You are so welcome!
Me too!! I have had it for 2 weeks and am terrified to use it in case it makes it worse!!
Thank you! Always love good advice from health professionals. I imagine a cotton swab would work as well as a ball of cotton and tweezers. With my hand/eye coordination, a swab would be easier.
Great idea!
It REALLY work’s guys. Honestly.
Thank you I just lost my filling at 11 pm on a Friday and it’s about to be a long weekend
I ordered it from Amazon. My hubby will help me on this. Looks good. My filling is out and can't book an appointment as holidays around the corner 🙃

One of my molars had a cavity then it busted away a good piece of my tooth a few months back.
The center and one side is gone now & is barley above my gum line.
I had no pain until about 3 weeks ago and now it is starting to get unbearable while trying to work.
It will be a while before I will be able to get it fixed (because of everything going on), then stumbled across your video,
while looking up some remedies to try and help.
This will be a miracle if it helps & I am so blessed that you took the time for us, to explain how to use this.!!
I hope it works!!
Thank you very much, Sir.
Greatly appreciated, especially if it helps for over this holiday season until I can get in and get it fixed.
Thank you for the kind words. Good luck and try to get your tooth taken care of as soon as you can. Thank you very much for watching.
I have a similar situation and cannot see the dentist for a month. How long did the dentek last?
Thanks
I am in a similar situation, I was in bad pain from a molar and I still have a week until my dentist appointment, the temperin does help, but there's still a dull pain in the root
Thank you. I purchased some of this at Walgreens the other day. The instructions were horrible. I will try it again today with your instructions.
I hope it works for your situation. Let me know how it goes.
Yeah don’t bite down right away. Let it harden a couple minutes then bite down. It came right out of my molar when I bit down right away like the instructions said. I wish I’d seen this before. The directions say not to dry the tooth. So the putty stuck to everything but the tooth until I figured it out.
Crown came off and I watched another video on this product that said the exact OPPOSITE process. My crown keeps falling off and now I know why. I am going to use it the right way today and wait for my dentist. THANKS
You're welcome. If the crown won't stay in place, leave it out until you see your dentist. Sometimes the tooth under the crown breaks off and the crown won't stay on.
Thanks I'll try this! Also, Marathon Man is a great movie, and Larry O was great in it as the evil dentist.
Great info ... just what I needed. Thank you..
You are so welcome! Thanks very much for watching!
Thanks for the video. It worked very well for me
Great to hear! Thank you very much for watching!
Yeah I just bought some I’ll give this a try thanks.
Wow this video helped alot! Thank you!!!!!
Glad it helped!
I found this video VERY helpful! Thank you!!! Three of my 30 something year old fillings are wearing out and causing me pain. I can't get in to see the better dentist for over six weeks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks very much for watching!

@Very Nice Smile Dental Thanks for the video. I have a tooth that had root canal work done 30yrs or so back. The original crown fell off~20 yrs ago and my local dentist put it back in and this has repeated roughly once every 10yrs or so. The current crown last came off around 10yrs ago. At that time, I had moved and went to a new dentist who indicated that the post and other "scaffolding (?)" seemed in decent shape so he said let's just try to put the cement in. That lasted 10yrs or so before the crown came off today while eating rice (off all things, i.e. nothing hard). Picked up the product in this video and then found your video while searching how to use it. I have traveled across the country and when I called the emergency line of dentists in this area, I was told the line is for established patients only. Unfortunately, the Airbnb I am staying at does not have the tools mentioned in this video except maybe the cotton. So hoping to a) clean the inside of the crown as much as I can with my oral-b electric toothbrush's circular head but not sure if I should use that to clean inside the root canal cavity? b) so wondering if just swishing with cold water might be effective in cleaning that cavity? And finally, c) thinking might use gauze to help clamp down (didn't find temporary mouthguard)? Thank you for any additional tips in advance.
Sorry to hear about your situation. Make sure to test fit the crown before you use the temporary material. Clean out the inside of the crown as best you can first. You can also use your toothbrush to clean your tooth before you put the crown back on. If the crown doesn't fit properly or if it is very loose, don't use the temporary material and see a dentist as soon as you can. Thank you very much for watching.
I had a filling come out and was so happy to find your video as I wasn’t sure how safe the repair kit was. I’ve been vaccinated but still am having a hard time getting an appointment with not only my dentist but any dentist. Thank you for your video.
You are so welcome! Thank you very much for watching!
I also don't like to serve vaccinated clients. I prefer those with a robust natural immunity.

Works great for temporary use. Worth the 6.00. All day long
Good to hear!
These instructions seem helpful. I had a filling fall out not once but twice. The first time they got me in that morning. The second time they were booked up fully and I haven’t gotten in yet. I’ve used this stuff in the past but it usually wouldn’t last long because I was trying to repair a cavity not a lost filling, which of course if it’s a untreated cavity no good can come from this. But for lost filling it can hold up for a couple weeks I suppose
It works to temporarily recement crowns too. I had a patient in this past week who had a crown come out a few weeks ago. He used the dentek material to recement the crown and it held until I was able to see him.
Thank you a ton I used it seems it's great
Great to hear! Which tooth did you use it on?
Really?
@@marilynbahoura very much so. Some of my appointments are weeks after something happens. Helps me with pain and annoyance till my appointment.

@@emonoglesby So basically my six front top teeth are crowns and the two big ones the right side is thinning out to the point where it’s going to break off and I don’t have a car I had Covid a few months ago and I think it’s happening because of Covid it kind of ruined my teeth so I need to fill on top of my tooth the two front tooth and I want to paste it and just top of it to make it a little bit more thicker because it’s thinning out
Thanks for the info! I have a partially decayed tooth and I can’t be seen by dentist until Monday & I’m in a world of pain! Sore pain, not throbbing. I was nervous to use the kit but now I’m not since I found your video!
Just a few questions I’m hoping you can answer-
1. Will the temp filling hurt my tooth even more when I first place it?
2. *edited & removed as I saw you answered this in the comments already with someone else*
Thanks again for the video, super helpful! 🙂🙂🙂
Glad I could help. The temporary material shouldn't hurt your tooth. It may help it feel better, it may make no difference at all. Mostly what it does is fill the missing space and cover any exposed dentin and it helps keep food from getting forced into the space when you chew. Thank you very much for watching and reading the comments!
@@VeryNiceSmileDental awesome! Thanks for the speedy reply and all that you do on here and in person 🙂❣️💞
Clove oil. Google reflexology for teeth issues.
@mirandabby2227 got it fixed? I wanted to say it would definitely help in preventing air from hitting the nerve and cavity when breathing causing pain.
Thank You, Doctor! I’ll update you
Great!
Thank you!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Every time I chew on my top molar the food seems to gets trapped in the cavity or something and my gums swell and it's painful. But it's a soreness kind of pain. Doesn't seem cavity related. I've had plenty of cavities and root canals and I've never experienced pain that only happens when I chew. So I just don't know what to think. But if I do in fact need a root canal, can I fill the cavity with dentek until I get it done or is that only for small cavities?
It depends on the shape of the cavity. From what you are describing it sounds like food is getting stuck under the gums when you eat, which can happen if you have a cavity or lost a filling. Try the Dentek material and see if it helps. See your dentist as soon as possible. Thank you very much for watching!
Hi thank you for this video I had a root canal a month ago I have not had my post and crown part done yet, but my temporary filling is push in so deep I feel like I have a hole can I use this product to fill it temporary? My friend also gave me a package from her dentist of Kerr Temp Bond Temp cement base and a little package of Kerr Temp Bond temporary cement accelerator could I mix this and use this to fill the whole up? Or is this just used to hold a crown if it falls off
Yes you should be able to use this material to fill in the hole. Usually the top of the temporary filling that is placed after a root canal wears away but the base is still sealed. The TempBond cement is too thin a material to fill the hole. Just use the temporary filling material instead. Thank you very much for watching.
Thanks for sharing this
You're welcome!
Going to try now
God bless you, sir.
Thank you kindly!
Thank you
You're welcome.
Thanx for thr info
You're welcome. Thank you very much for watching!
Thank you for the detail! I would really appreciate if you can provide some guidance to me. Actually quarter part of the 2nd molar on left lower side came out last night. I am actually waiting to get my 2nd dose of the vaccine which may take a month or so and until then I want to wait to see the dentist until then. So I want to find out if I apply this on the broken part of the tooth, for how long I can keep it on. I have filling there as well. I would really appreciate if you guide me on this.
The material itself can easily last a few months, but it depends on the shape of the broken part of the tooth. The material will stay in place better if the missing part of the tooth is cupped out. If the missing part is very flat or smooth, the material may not stay in place well. Thank you very much for watching.
@@VeryNiceSmileDental Thank you so much! Really appreciate it🙂

Just bought the product. As it's Christmas Eve...I can't get into my dentist until January 3rd. Just who loses a filling eating ice cream! I did call the back up dental practice. They also are closed. I am so lucky. No pain at all. Just a 30 year old filling that chose now to fall out
thank you
You're welcome, thank you very much for watching!
thanx doc, I broke a moler off in half on a Friday night so I packed it with this epoxy I might not be able to see my dentist for a week or so, so I hope this keeps food and the jagged edge off my check and tongue
Cool beans Dwight! Let me know how it works out for you!
If your crown has a pocket in it, be careful not to put too much in that hole. I think I overdid it and the tooth didn't sit right now I dont think I can get it out and I cant bite down with any other teeth as that bad tooth is sitting a hair high.
Hey, thank you for posting this. Have ordered mine waiting for it to come. Just wanted to check how long does it last???
Hi, it depends on the size and shape of the hole. I use a similar material during root canals to close up the access hole between visits. It can last several weeks in that situation.
Thanks for making this video I lost part of a filling you made this very simple to do. I can't afford to go to a dentist right now can I keep using this til I can?
Try to see a dentist as soon as you can since if there is any decay in your tooth it will get worse over time.
Hi, thank you for the video. I just used this product and video for reference last night and it has already come off without me even chewing much on that side. What did I do wrong?
My dentist is on vacation for the next month so I really need this to work.
Hi, whether or not the material stays in place depends on the tooth. There are situations in which even a filling placed by a dentist won't stay in place. Who's covering emergencies for your dentist?
I got a hole in side of my moler and it has gotten bigger due to my diet i changed it got dental insurance but it won’t be active for another 3 months for me to get work done i haven’t had pain yet and it doesn’t bother me but i can feel the hole what is a good preventative method i could use while i wait for my benefits
Hi! I had a root canal and temporary filling put in. All is well right now but I have to take a flight this week. Will flying affect my temporary filling? My appointment for my temporary crown isn’t until I get back next week.
You should be fine on your flight. Thank you very much for watching!
I had a piece of my tooth break away yesterday and now I have a little hole. I’m unable to get a dentist appointment so would this help? The tooth has already got a filling from a dentist. So if I should, how long can you keep it on the tooth for?
This material should be able to fill the hole so that food doesn't get caught there, as long as the hole is the right shape to keep the material from falling out. Try to see a dentist as soon as you can. Thank you very much for watching.
Man thanks. I can't get a appointment for 2 months
Thank you !!! My tooth be bothering me after i eat 😭😭. This should help alot 🕺
You're welcome! Let me know how it goes. Thank you very much for watching!
Weird, I have the exact same kit but it specifically says to NOT let the tooth dry before applying. I dried it off and tried again and it worked perfectly. Thank you!!! My issue is a tooth that cracked and now a jagged remaining piece keeps cutting my tongue 😬
Can you get a nail file or emery board to the jagged edge and smooth it a little bit? That should help make it more comfortable for you until you can see your dentist.
Thanks Dr for the tip. How to use it!! 😊
Thank you so much!! I can't afford to go to dentist.
Hi! I was eating cereal and my cavity filling broke off and the hole is a bit big but not very large. The tooth with the cavity filling was at risk of getting a root canal because it was so decayed. I just ordered this temporary fix until I could see my dentist next week so I was just wondering how to remove the product. Do i have to wait until it comes off or is there something I need to do to remove it?
Hi, your dentist will be able to easily remove the temporary filling material when you see them.
How long can you keep the filling in for a cavity?
Thankyou this video was really helpful!
Try to see a dentist as soon as possible to get your teeth repaired properly. Thank you very much for watching.
I'm waiting for a RCT and have a huge cavity that exposes the root. Is this safe to use?
Yes it should be, but do see your dentist as soon as you can to get the root canal and the cavity treated. Thank you very much for watching!
I was expecting someone's story in comment section, that they temporarely put back a crown and it lasted 10 years 😂
I think my tooth chipped all the way down to the nerve when I pressed down I experienced a sharp pain which almost caused me to faint. I hope this helps until I can make and wait for a dentist appointment thank you for the video.
See your dentist as soon as you can, the temporary filling material may not help with your situation.
My back tooth has broken in 2 won't get a filling until next year it was painful but yes temporary filling did help me anyway I didn't use dentemp though I used CIMADENT Temporary Dental Cement from amazon itss £15 but it holds well
Hey how are you now? I've broke my molar and the pain when I touch it is un real

Thank you very much for watching!
Hi I have just had to do this myself was wondering can it last 2months because that's when my appointment is any help appreciated thanks
It may last that long, it depends on the shape of the cavity in the tooth. Thank you very much for watching.
Dr. I have a little hole part of mid up side and swelling too, can I use the temp material? And how can I get it ? Please advise. Thanks
Hi, if you have swelling, see a dentist right away.
This guy is a dentist I would go see
Thank you for the kind words!
Hi there i have a outside piece of a wisdom tooth broken off. Should i still try to temporarily fill it? It doesnt hurt
Is it bothering you? If it's not, keep it clean and see your dentist as soon as you can.
I purchased this exact product in case of emergency. If a molar crown falls off of a core build, is it safe to put the product on the core build? does the product need to be burred off by dentist before a proper repair?
Yes this material is safe to use on a tooth with a core buildup. It is easy for a dentist to remove.
Hello Doc. I have had a root canal and currently have temp filling. I won't be able to get my crown done till a 3- 4 months later. Can I use this on top of my temp filling to strengthen it to last longer or if any of it comes off. Thank you in advance !
Same here bro
Yes you can use this material if some of the temporary material wears down. Avoid biting down on the root canaled tooth (I'm assuming it's a back tooth) until you get the crown, the tooth is weakened after having the root canal.
@@VeryNiceSmileDental yes sir! Thank you very much !
You're welcome!
Hey there, finished putting my filling in a few mins ago. So what food counts as too hard or sticky to be chewed on?
Hi, hard foods are things like nuts and hard bread crusts. Sticky is usually candy such as caramel or taffy.
Can I use this if I just got a cavity and I can see A small little hole in a regular tooth. Its also on the front side of the tooth also
If the material stays in place you can use it. But try to see a dentist as soon as you can.
I bought today vladmiva metarial for temporary fillings. But when I used it, it didn't dry on my mouth! is there any special way for dry it? It didn't harden.
The material doesn't fully harden, that way it won't cause your bite to be off. Thank you very much for watching.
Had a root canal on my lower right, front tooth about a week ago. The temporary filling fell out. Now I have this whole in my mouth. Dentist can't fit me in for an appointment until 12 days from now. He said not to put a temporary filling in on my own. What else am I supposed to do for the next 12 days? I have to try the temporary filling. Can't just leave this hole open in my mouth.
You should be able to fill the hole with this material. It's easy to remove if you have a problem with it. Thanks very much for watching!
Why some cap fillers like the Walgreens one say to moist with water?
The moisture helps the material set up. Thank you very much for watching.
How long do these filling typical last?
They are meant to be temporary fillings. Depending on the situation, they could last several months. Best to see a dentist as soon as possible. Thank you very much for watching.
A crown fell off but no area dentist has appointments for a few weeks. If the DenTek holds up, would it be unsafe to use it until then? 2. Why do the directions to secure loose crowns, etc. say rinse the tooth and crown area "and do not dry?" Isn't being dry the key to a secure bond? Thanks!
1. If the crown stays in place, then yes you should be ok.
2. the material sets up when exposed to moisture. You won't be able to thoroughly dry off the tooth at home so it's not an issue. It's not easy to place the material in a puddle of saliva. The material doesn't bond to the tooth at all, it's held in by the undercuts in the hole (think of a dovetail cabinet joint).
Thanks so much! It's wonderful to be able to get prompt responses on matters such as this.
RCT done by dentist, but today all the filing & cap came out , may I fill this cavity to avoid any infection temporarily at my own home.
It should work for your situation until you can see your dentist.
Ok soo i gotta get my wisdom teeth pulled and one is decaying and another tooth has a molar will this stop the pain until I’m seen by my dentist ? Or is it only for teeth with fillings already previously done that have been damaged?
Hi, it depends on the pain. If it's a sharp pain that happens when you drink something cold, the temporary material may help. If it's a throbbing pain that's constant, the temporary material won't help.
Would this work if the silver filling is what chipped ?
It should work to replace a broken silver filling that fell out. If it's only a small chip, the material may not stay in place.
Does shining a UV light at the repair help the process at all? Thanks!
Hi, no a light won't make a difference.
How long does " meta MD-temp hydraulic temporary restorative " take to harden? I bought before vladmiva material for temporary fillings didn't harden 🙁Are they same production!?
I'm not familiar with either of those two brands of material. The temporary filling material is available in different consistencies for dentists. Some versions set up rock hard, some stay soft, some are in between.
I believe the over the counter versions of the materials available to non-dentists are the stay soft version.
In a bad spot, as I have lost a small piece of the outer framework of LR6 - which is heavily restored and has a vertical fracture and a dormant abscess already. The chip that's gone has left the filling still in place in the center and a sharp piece outermost, that's boring hole in my tongue. Will I be able to cover and smooth over the chip with this until I can get to my dentist?
Give it a try, the material may stay in place or it may not, it depends on the shape of the chip. Thank you very much for watching.
@@VeryNiceSmileDental Thanks very much. I'll feel more confident having the seal of approval of someone who knows what they're doing! Happy Christmas!😁
I have just done exactly the same with the tooth in the same condition as you, can't get an emergency appointment any where, ordered this from Boots for tomorrow, did you try it and did it work and if so for how long ? Thanks
@@tawnywitch I bought but didn't use the Dentemp in the end, as I snagged a dental app, and he said any temp filling could block up drainage for the abscess. If your tooth is chipped, and it's shredding your tongue, I highly recommend placing a small ball of paraffin wax over the sharp bit. I happened to have some wax ear plugs, and that worked a treat, but you can buy 'dental wax' - basically the same thing. It's designed to prevent braces rubbing in the same way.
Hey I have one question how long can you keep this in
It's always best to see a dentist as soon as you can. How long the material stays in place will depend on the size and shape of the hole. Best case scenario it will last a few weeks.
Considering I wanna go as far as I can on my destroyed shrapnel. I mean teeth. And I use this to pull out an exposed root?
Hi, sorry to hear about your teeth. This material can be used to temporarily fill a broken tooth or to temporarily recement a crown. To pull out a root you will need to see your dentist.
How long does thee Ed temporary dentek or dentemp last on the tooth?
Hi, it depends on the situation. In the perfect situation it could last a couple of weeks. In the wrong situation, it will fall out in a few minutes.
Can you kindly explain if the filling material has Mercury, Amalgam or other hazardous material in it? Many thanks.
Hi, there is no mercury or amalgam in this material. You can find the ingredients list on the manufacturers website here, www.dentek.com/oral-care-products/pain-relief-repair/dentek-advanced-repair#ingredients
And this works fine for front teeth too? I lost my filling on the tooth right before my canine and It looks terrible.
For front teeth it will depend on what part of the tooth is missing. The filling material needs to be able to lock in to the tooth, it's not very sticky by itself. For example, if you broke off a corner of your front tooth, the temporary material most likely won't stay in place. I hope I'm explaining it well. Thank you very much for watching.
I really need to see the front 2 teeth at the Gummi e being filled with temp. Fill
Can I fill the tooth during or after a course of antibiotics? Thank you.
The filling won't interfere with antibiotics, but see your dentist as soon as you can.
Can it be used when a small cavity came off and it causes pain?I can see my dentist in 6 weeks ,and am considering it.Also can I desinfect the area with hydrogen peroxide before filling?thanks
Hi, it depends on the type of pain. If you pain when you drink something cold, the temporary filling should help. If you have throbbing pain, the temporary filling won't help.
My tooth chipped on the inside of my mouth where the tongue is. its about the size of the tip on a sharpend pencil break that off and thats the size that broke my dentist is booked till August 16th can i use this as a sub because the tooth is cutting my tongue its between tooth 29 and 30. The top of the tooth is still fine and the bottom is fine its the middle of the tooth thats chipped/broke off. Is this safe to use or will it cause an infection?
You should be able to use this temporary material to fill the space until you can see your dentist.
Ok did you end up using it? If so.. did it cause pain when you placed the temp filling material?
@@mirandabby22 I did use it and it didn't cause pain when installing it. But i did still receive some pain from the nerve of the tooth under the filling here and there. But oragel worked or other items that contain the 20%Benzocaine. But the pain was alot worse without the filling due to it being exposed to food and beverages that get inside the tooth.
Doctor I have cracked a tooth it's hurts tongue because is cracked in one side do u thing can use this till see a dentist? And for how long I can use it tha k you
Try to see your dentist as soon as you can. This material may work for a few days but it depends on the situation. Thank you for watching.
Just had a root canal , and my filling looks like it wants to give in is it safe to try to re do it with something like this?
Yes you can add to it. See your dentist as soon as you can though.
