Thank you for your video! My filling of tooth #19 (next to tooth #20), was slightly loose and I scheduled a dentist appointment (new dental practice after the pandemic, and my old dentist retiring). Two days before my appointment, the filling came out during flossing, and the new dentist called in sick that week and on vacation the following. I was able to find a different dentist, however watching your video gave me peace of mind that if I did not find a good dentist within the same week, there was a back up plan. I did not end up using the Dentemp, as I was able to see a dentist within 3 days of the filling falling out, and got a new filling. But again, I had a back up plan and a peace of mind. Thank you.
Update: I recommend not using this stuff at all. It caused my cavity to get infected, which resulted in a tooth extraction. Not worth the temporary fix imo.
Thank you so so much for this video. Lost a brand new filling tonight (Friday night, had it filled about a month ago, dentist opens Monday morning) and this video helped a lot!
I just used this stuff, part of my filling came out and I have been miserable for 6 weeks. Just looked up what can be done at home about it, and saw this stuff. Instant relief! Was going to go to the Dentist, but it is just too expensive even with insurance. Glad I found this video too, thank you!
My filling came out when I was flossing my tooth. I just had to use this repair kit. So far it is ok. Your video really helps sublime to the package instructions.
This is definitely a helpful video and a must have when traveling, especially if you are on a cruise. This is definitely a very helpful video and this is only to provide short term relief and buy time. I strongly recommend calling your dentist and setting up an appointment to get it checked out, possibly x-rayed, and permanently fixed and make sure there is no decay under that temporary filling or crown. The only way to remove decay from a cavity is the dentist will have to numb the tooth and remove the decay with a drill, then apply a filling or a crown after. Also, one common reason a filling or a crown can fall out is because of recurrent decay under the filling or crown that fell out and this could cause result in the tooth needing a crown or even a root canal and this is also one reason why it is extremely important to get to the dentist ASAP if you have to use this product.
Thank you! Always love good advice from health professionals. I imagine a cotton swab would work as well as a ball of cotton and tweezers. With my hand/eye coordination, a swab would be easier.
Roll up into small ball, lick it, and press it onto tooth with finger. I find too much spit makes it disintegrate in your mouth and leaves white residue on your tongue. Once you got it fitted, keep your mouth open for at least a half hr, avoid liquids and food...don't spit!
I found this video VERY helpful! Thank you!!! Three of my 30 something year old fillings are wearing out and causing me pain. I can't get in to see the better dentist for over six weeks!
Yeah don’t bite down right away. Let it harden a couple minutes then bite down. It came right out of my molar when I bit down right away like the instructions said. I wish I’d seen this before. The directions say not to dry the tooth. So the putty stuck to everything but the tooth until I figured it out.
Crown came off and I watched another video on this product that said the exact OPPOSITE process. My crown keeps falling off and now I know why. I am going to use it the right way today and wait for my dentist. THANKS
You're welcome. If the crown won't stay in place, leave it out until you see your dentist. Sometimes the tooth under the crown breaks off and the crown won't stay on.
One of my molars had a cavity then it busted away a good piece of my tooth a few months back. The center and one side is gone now & is barley above my gum line. I had no pain until about 3 weeks ago and now it is starting to get unbearable while trying to work. It will be a while before I will be able to get it fixed (because of everything going on), then stumbled across your video, while looking up some remedies to try and help. This will be a miracle if it helps & I am so blessed that you took the time for us, to explain how to use this.!! I hope it works!! Thank you very much, Sir. Greatly appreciated, especially if it helps for over this holiday season until I can get in and get it fixed.
I am in a similar situation, I was in bad pain from a molar and I still have a week until my dentist appointment, the temperin does help, but there's still a dull pain in the root
I had a filling come out and was so happy to find your video as I wasn’t sure how safe the repair kit was. I’ve been vaccinated but still am having a hard time getting an appointment with not only my dentist but any dentist. Thank you for your video.

I have bad teeth left in my mouth, poor oral hygiene as a kid. I've spent untold tens of thousands fixing my smile but still have a few molars that are jacked up. DenTek has helped enormously with fighting the agony of an exposed nerve from a rotten tooth....to the dentist Monday for yet another pulled tooth I recon
I wish I would have seen this video before I followed the instructions on the paste package and glued my crown in. This video showed a size of ball of paste to use. I used what I thought was the correct amount and now my crown is solidly glued in and sticks down about .5 mm so I can't close my mouth or chew very well on the other side. I have to wait almost a week to see my dentist. I used Dentek.
If your crown has a pocket in it, be careful not to put too much in that hole. I think I overdid it and the tooth didn't sit right now I dont think I can get it out and I cant bite down with any other teeth as that bad tooth is sitting a hair high.
These instructions seem helpful. I had a filling fall out not once but twice. The first time they got me in that morning. The second time they were booked up fully and I haven’t gotten in yet. I’ve used this stuff in the past but it usually wouldn’t last long because I was trying to repair a cavity not a lost filling, which of course if it’s a untreated cavity no good can come from this. But for lost filling it can hold up for a couple weeks I suppose
It works to temporarily recement crowns too. I had a patient in this past week who had a crown come out a few weeks ago. He used the dentek material to recement the crown and it held until I was able to see him.
Thanks for the info! I have a partially decayed tooth and I can’t be seen by dentist until Monday & I’m in a world of pain! Sore pain, not throbbing. I was nervous to use the kit but now I’m not since I found your video! Just a few questions I’m hoping you can answer- 1. Will the temp filling hurt my tooth even more when I first place it? 2. *edited & removed as I saw you answered this in the comments already with someone else* Thanks again for the video, super helpful! 🙂🙂🙂
Glad I could help. The temporary material shouldn't hurt your tooth. It may help it feel better, it may make no difference at all. Mostly what it does is fill the missing space and cover any exposed dentin and it helps keep food from getting forced into the space when you chew. Thank you very much for watching and reading the comments!
@mirandabby2227 got it fixed? I wanted to say it would definitely help in preventing air from hitting the nerve and cavity when breathing causing pain.
A crown fell off but no area dentist has appointments for a few weeks. If the DenTek holds up, would it be unsafe to use it until then? 2. Why do the directions to secure loose crowns, etc. say rinse the tooth and crown area "and do not dry?" Isn't being dry the key to a secure bond? Thanks!
1. If the crown stays in place, then yes you should be ok. 2. the material sets up when exposed to moisture. You won't be able to thoroughly dry off the tooth at home so it's not an issue. It's not easy to place the material in a puddle of saliva. The material doesn't bond to the tooth at all, it's held in by the undercuts in the hole (think of a dovetail cabinet joint).
Weird, I have the exact same kit but it specifically says to NOT let the tooth dry before applying. I dried it off and tried again and it worked perfectly. Thank you!!! My issue is a tooth that cracked and now a jagged remaining piece keeps cutting my tongue 😬
Can you get a nail file or emery board to the jagged edge and smooth it a little bit? That should help make it more comfortable for you until you can see your dentist.
I think my tooth chipped all the way down to the nerve when I pressed down I experienced a sharp pain which almost caused me to faint. I hope this helps until I can make and wait for a dentist appointment thank you for the video.
My back tooth has broken in 2 won't get a filling until next year it was painful but yes temporary filling did help me anyway I didn't use dentemp though I used CIMADENT Temporary Dental Cement from amazon itss £15 but it holds well
Thank you for the detail! I would really appreciate if you can provide some guidance to me. Actually quarter part of the 2nd molar on left lower side came out last night. I am actually waiting to get my 2nd dose of the vaccine which may take a month or so and until then I want to wait to see the dentist until then. So I want to find out if I apply this on the broken part of the tooth, for how long I can keep it on. I have filling there as well. I would really appreciate if you guide me on this.
The material itself can easily last a few months, but it depends on the shape of the broken part of the tooth. The material will stay in place better if the missing part of the tooth is cupped out. If the missing part is very flat or smooth, the material may not stay in place well. Thank you very much for watching.
Just bought the product. As it's Christmas Eve...I can't get into my dentist until January 3rd. Just who loses a filling eating ice cream! I did call the back up dental practice. They also are closed. I am so lucky. No pain at all. Just a 30 year old filling that chose now to fall out
@Very Nice Smile Dental Thanks for the video. I have a tooth that had root canal work done 30yrs or so back. The original crown fell off~20 yrs ago and my local dentist put it back in and this has repeated roughly once every 10yrs or so. The current crown last came off around 10yrs ago. At that time, I had moved and went to a new dentist who indicated that the post and other "scaffolding (?)" seemed in decent shape so he said let's just try to put the cement in. That lasted 10yrs or so before the crown came off today while eating rice (off all things, i.e. nothing hard). Picked up the product in this video and then found your video while searching how to use it. I have traveled across the country and when I called the emergency line of dentists in this area, I was told the line is for established patients only. Unfortunately, the Airbnb I am staying at does not have the tools mentioned in this video except maybe the cotton. So hoping to a) clean the inside of the crown as much as I can with my oral-b electric toothbrush's circular head but not sure if I should use that to clean inside the root canal cavity? b) so wondering if just swishing with cold water might be effective in cleaning that cavity? And finally, c) thinking might use gauze to help clamp down (didn't find temporary mouthguard)? Thank you for any additional tips in advance.
Sorry to hear about your situation. Make sure to test fit the crown before you use the temporary material. Clean out the inside of the crown as best you can first. You can also use your toothbrush to clean your tooth before you put the crown back on. If the crown doesn't fit properly or if it is very loose, don't use the temporary material and see a dentist as soon as you can. Thank you very much for watching.
I put dentek in this morning around 8:30 and was fine for a little. It just keeps getting worse and worse now. I was able to sleep for a little bit now it feels so bad and like my tooth is about to shoot out of my mouth.
Sounds like you need to have the tooth looked at as soon as you can. Are there any emergency dental clinics in your area? Maybe a hospital with a dental residency clinic?
I’m at the ER right now. No emergency clinics near me. My lymph nodes are swollen and the pain is unbearable. I’ve been at the ER for 2 hours now waiting to be seen. Average wait time is 3.5 - 4 hours.
Hi, thank you for the video. I just used this product and video for reference last night and it has already come off without me even chewing much on that side. What did I do wrong? My dentist is on vacation for the next month so I really need this to work.
Hi, whether or not the material stays in place depends on the tooth. There are situations in which even a filling placed by a dentist won't stay in place. Who's covering emergencies for your dentist?
Every time I chew on my top molar the food seems to gets trapped in the cavity or something and my gums swell and it's painful. But it's a soreness kind of pain. Doesn't seem cavity related. I've had plenty of cavities and root canals and I've never experienced pain that only happens when I chew. So I just don't know what to think. But if I do in fact need a root canal, can I fill the cavity with dentek until I get it done or is that only for small cavities?
It depends on the shape of the cavity. From what you are describing it sounds like food is getting stuck under the gums when you eat, which can happen if you have a cavity or lost a filling. Try the Dentek material and see if it helps. See your dentist as soon as possible. Thank you very much for watching!
I've had that identical pain just during chewing and turns out I had tooth decay underneath my Crown which needed an immediate Root Canal. After root canal, there was no pain. Visit your Dentist asap
@@VeryNiceSmileDental It may easily be a remaining tooth decay beneath the Crown which needs a Root Canal. I've experienced identical pain just during chewing to undergo Root Canal to fix problem. Not too bad following root canal to place your Crown back. I felt so much better after visiting my trusted Dentist.
Thanks for making this video I lost part of a filling you made this very simple to do. I can't afford to go to a dentist right now can I keep using this til I can?
Ive lost half a tooth and have the underlying gum (maybe the nerve) partially exposed, ive tried to get a dentist but no one is taking new patients til febuary. I tried an emergency line who said they don't have any drills but to use this product in the mean time. I just bought it but noticed it says not to use it with any throbbing pain which im currently experiencing... can i use it because its my only option right now 😭
Throbbing pain means that either the nerve of the tooth is inflamed or the gum around the broken tooth is inflamed. It sounds like the tooth will need to be extracted. The temporary filling material won't help. Try to see a dentist as soon as you can. Thank you very much for watching.
Some answer huh.... Rinse you're mouth with Salt water, Then Rinse with proxzide Put ice on your face Remember anything hot will cause it to become more irritated, Then use this stuff Obviously seek help when you can Being you already know that Sleep upright In a couch chair If laying down, don't being it will increase the blood flow and make it hurt more..
@@warriorchiefmussolini706 haha thank you hun, i had to pay a private dentist to be seen and was referred for the extraction (still waiting) but they gave me antibiotics and the infection and pain cleared so I'm doing fine now, thank you for the tips!
@@buumbaby Glade you added that That's the most important thing. Antibiotics Always It's the most important medicine next to surgery I had plenty of absence teeth And it is a infection Infection=Antibiotics to kill the poison If these doctors really cared they would prescribe Antibiotics over the counter It's really annoying paying someone 100+$ to pull on your tooth and tell you something you already know, Infection=Antibiotics to clean the poison out Really glade you said that because it is the most important thing out of all
It's difficult when your tooth is on your upper-back end where food randomly trespasses to enter the whole but this would be a temporary relief until your earliest dental appointment. I personally get my relief knowing that my dental appointment is within a few days as it's quite easy to procrastinate your dental visit once you decide to use this.
Thank u, ilk wait tell bed time. Half my tooth broke off and my gums is exposed on 1 side. Can't get into dentist yeat. Bought this and all kinds of other thangs for the tooth along with good mouth wash and a new tooth brush .
Hi! I was eating cereal and my cavity filling broke off and the hole is a bit big but not very large. The tooth with the cavity filling was at risk of getting a root canal because it was so decayed. I just ordered this temporary fix until I could see my dentist next week so I was just wondering how to remove the product. Do i have to wait until it comes off or is there something I need to do to remove it?
@@emonoglesby So basically my six front top teeth are crowns and the two big ones the right side is thinning out to the point where it’s going to break off and I don’t have a car I had Covid a few months ago and I think it’s happening because of Covid it kind of ruined my teeth so I need to fill on top of my tooth the two front tooth and I want to paste it and just top of it to make it a little bit more thicker because it’s thinning out
I had a piece of my tooth break away yesterday and now I have a little hole. I’m unable to get a dentist appointment so would this help? The tooth has already got a filling from a dentist. So if I should, how long can you keep it on the tooth for?
This material should be able to fill the hole so that food doesn't get caught there, as long as the hole is the right shape to keep the material from falling out. Try to see a dentist as soon as you can. Thank you very much for watching.
Hello Doc. I have had a root canal and currently have temp filling. I won't be able to get my crown done till a 3- 4 months later. Can I use this on top of my temp filling to strengthen it to last longer or if any of it comes off. Thank you in advance !
Yes you can use this material if some of the temporary material wears down. Avoid biting down on the root canaled tooth (I'm assuming it's a back tooth) until you get the crown, the tooth is weakened after having the root canal.
Hi, it depends on the size and shape of the hole. I use a similar material during root canals to close up the access hole between visits. It can last several weeks in that situation.
Hi thank you for this video I had a root canal a month ago I have not had my post and crown part done yet, but my temporary filling is push in so deep I feel like I have a hole can I use this product to fill it temporary? My friend also gave me a package from her dentist of Kerr Temp Bond Temp cement base and a little package of Kerr Temp Bond temporary cement accelerator could I mix this and use this to fill the whole up? Or is this just used to hold a crown if it falls off
Yes you should be able to use this material to fill in the hole. Usually the top of the temporary filling that is placed after a root canal wears away but the base is still sealed. The TempBond cement is too thin a material to fill the hole. Just use the temporary filling material instead. Thank you very much for watching.
Hi! I had a root canal and temporary filling put in. All is well right now but I have to take a flight this week. Will flying affect my temporary filling? My appointment for my temporary crown isn’t until I get back next week.
Can it be used when a small cavity came off and it causes pain?I can see my dentist in 6 weeks ,and am considering it.Also can I desinfect the area with hydrogen peroxide before filling?thanks
Hi, it depends on the type of pain. If you pain when you drink something cold, the temporary filling should help. If you have throbbing pain, the temporary filling won't help.
My tooth chipped on the inside of my mouth where the tongue is. its about the size of the tip on a sharpend pencil break that off and thats the size that broke my dentist is booked till August 16th can i use this as a sub because the tooth is cutting my tongue its between tooth 29 and 30. The top of the tooth is still fine and the bottom is fine its the middle of the tooth thats chipped/broke off. Is this safe to use or will it cause an infection?
@@mirandabby22 I did use it and it didn't cause pain when installing it. But i did still receive some pain from the nerve of the tooth under the filling here and there. But oragel worked or other items that contain the 20%Benzocaine. But the pain was alot worse without the filling due to it being exposed to food and beverages that get inside the tooth.
I got a hole in side of my moler and it has gotten bigger due to my diet i changed it got dental insurance but it won’t be active for another 3 months for me to get work done i haven’t had pain yet and it doesn’t bother me but i can feel the hole what is a good preventative method i could use while i wait for my benefits
Hi, sorry to hear about your teeth. This material can be used to temporarily fill a broken tooth or to temporarily recement a crown. To pull out a root you will need to see your dentist.
Hi, there's no way you'll be able to thoroughly dry the tooth off at home. There will be sufficient moisture on the tooth to set the material. It's very difficult to place the material in a puddle of saliva.
Hi, at home you won't be able to completely dry off the tooth. There will be enough moisture present for the material to set. It's very difficult to use the material in a puddle of saliva.
Don't worry about over drying the tooth, you won't be able to at home. Plus it's not easy working in a puddle of saliva. Thank you very much for watching.
Ok soo i gotta get my wisdom teeth pulled and one is decaying and another tooth has a molar will this stop the pain until I’m seen by my dentist ? Or is it only for teeth with fillings already previously done that have been damaged?
Hi, it depends on the pain. If it's a sharp pain that happens when you drink something cold, the temporary material may help. If it's a throbbing pain that's constant, the temporary material won't help.
My husband is bed-bound and can't get to his dentist. There are no mobile dentists in our area. Two crowns have fallen off. So I tried using this method to at least make the remaining part of the teeth more comfortable, less rough. So far no luck. The material just sticks to my finger or the applicator and nothing stays on the teeth more than a minute. After he closes his mouth it all comes off his teeth. Trying to find a way to get him to the dentist as this has been bothering him for five months. His dentist recommended that we use this DenTek stuff but it's not working for us. I haven't tried to cement the crowns back on because my husband has dementia and is likely to swallow them if they get loose again. He has already swallowed a tooth from his upper denture.
I have a temporary crown, my appointment to have the permanent put in, is in 2 weeks. My temp just refuses to stay. I think imma just stick to putting the temp on until my permanent comes in. Hopefully that sticks.
If your temp crown came off, give your dentist a call so they know what is going on. In some cases I will have the person come in to make a new temporary, other times it may be okay to wait till the final crown is ready. Let them know so they can make the call, that way if there is an issue, it's on them, not on you.
Hello, thank you for the video. My question is, i have a loose filling on my back teeth and i cant get an appointment until 5 months. Can this product help to keep the loose filling in place?
thanx doc, I broke a moler off in half on a Friday night so I packed it with this epoxy I might not be able to see my dentist for a week or so, so I hope this keeps food and the jagged edge off my check and tongue
It will not dissolve it is temporary so it will come out on its own while eating or brushing. If you go to the dentist with it like I did they have a tool that can easily get rid of it.
Yesterday (Fri) my filling came out on the underside of a top front tooth. My regular dentist was not in the office and not expected back until Monday. I saw this product at Walmart and bought it. It's still unopened because I'm not sure if I can do it correctly since I'm unable to see the cavity. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Nice video. I applied and let it set for 4 hours -and it still dissolved away in the duration of the meal I eat. I even tried to eat on the other side for 90% of the meal. Is it better to apply it at night and let it set for the 7-8 hrs you are asleep?
Hi, it depends on the office. In my office I would not have a separate fee to remove the temporary filling. That would be included in what ever you decide to do.
I was nervous to use this. My wisdom teeth were never removed. So one of them is growing at an angle and crushing a molar. The molar broke in half and has a nasty hole. It was fine for about year, but recently it's caused sever pain that wakes me up at night. My manager bought this for me and told me to try and it's really nice. I'm just worried about how long is too long, cause I won't be able to see a dentist for about a week or so.. and it still hurts. Though the pain isn't as bad as it was now that the nerve is covered.
I bought today vladmiva metarial for temporary fillings. But when I used it, it didn't dry on my mouth! is there any special way for dry it? It didn't harden.

The center and one side is gone now & is barley above my gum line.
I had no pain until about 3 weeks ago and now it is starting to get unbearable while trying to work.
It will be a while before I will be able to get it fixed (because of everything going on), then stumbled across your video,
while looking up some remedies to try and help.
This will be a miracle if it helps & I am so blessed that you took the time for us, to explain how to use this.!!

This was helpful, I was unsure if the product was more like temp filling or a hard composite.
Thank you very much for watching.
Thanks for the info! I have a partially decayed tooth and I can’t be seen by dentist until Monday & I’m in a world of pain! Sore pain, not throbbing. I was nervous to use the kit but now I’m not since I found your video!
Just a few questions I’m hoping you can answer-
1. Will the temp filling hurt my tooth even more when I first place it?
2. *edited & removed as I saw you answered this in the comments already with someone else*
Thanks again for the video, super helpful!

Thanks so much! It's wonderful to be able to get prompt responses on matters such as this.
Thanks Doctor
I think my tooth chipped all the way down to the nerve when I pressed down I experienced a sharp pain which almost caused me to faint. I hope this helps until I can make and wait for a dentist appointment thank you for the video.

My back tooth has broken in 2 won't get a filling until next year it was painful but yes temporary filling did help me anyway I didn't use dentemp though I used CIMADENT Temporary Dental Cement from amazon itss £15 but it holds well
Hey how are you now? I've broke my molar and the pain when I touch it is un real

I’m seriously at a loss here, I’m not sure how much more pain I can take and the earliest I can be seen is December. I need help bad!
Hang in there. Hope they can get to you soon. I know that in some parts of the US hospitals are getting overwhelmed with Covid cases.

Yeah I just bought some I’ll give this a try thanks.
Try to see a dentist as soon as you can since if there is any decay in your tooth it will get worse over time.

Yes you can use this material if some of the temporary material wears down. Avoid biting down on the root canaled tooth (I'm assuming it's a back tooth) until you get the crown, the tooth is weakened after having the root canal.

Hey, thank you for posting this. Have ordered mine waiting for it to come. Just wanted to check how long does it last???

My friend also gave me a package from her dentist of Kerr Temp Bond Temp cement base and a little package of Kerr Temp Bond temporary cement accelerator could I mix this and use this to fill the whole up? Yes you should be able to use this material to fill in the hole. Usually the top of the temporary filling that is placed after a root canal wears away but the base is still sealed. The TempBond cement is too thin a material to fill the hole. Just use the temporary filling material instead. Thank you very much for watching.

Can it be used when a small cavity came off and it causes pain?I can see my dentist in 6 weeks ,and am considering it.Also can I desinfect the area with hydrogen peroxide before filling?thanks

You say dry it but the instructions say make sure the surface is wet. Which is correct? Just trying to get it right. Thank you for the advice.
Hi, there's no way you'll be able to thoroughly dry the tooth off at home. There will be sufficient moisture on the tooth to set the material. It's very difficult to place the material in a puddle of saliva.

It’s says on the packaging to leave the cleaned post in the mouth wet when applying cement , but you say to dry it which is better ?

Ok soo i gotta get my wisdom teeth pulled and one is decaying and another tooth has a molar will this stop the pain until I’m seen by my dentist ? Or is it only for teeth with fillings already previously done that have been damaged?

I have searched for it in Botswana but can't find it 😕 😔, I really need it
My husband is bed-bound and can't get to his dentist.
Hi, sorry to hear about your husbands situation. In certain situations, the temporary material won't work at all.
