I stumbled upon this song 9 years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer. I would drive in my car by myself and play it so i could sob and deal with the fear I was having battling stage 3 cancer, and now 9 years later I am diagnosed again and looked the song up only to cry over it all again. This is a beautiful song with deep meaning for many not just Me.

Finding out it’s truths and it’s origin has been very hard and the sorrow of losing the answers to all things spiritual has cost me friends and family members yet in the same breath this loss has given me freedom and perspective like I never have had before we all have battles but yours somehow seems so much more and you give each of us pause to reflect on the grace and purpose of life . Facing trials is always easier when you have time to look at who you’ve become because of them . Be positive be blessed and most of all keep up the fight perspective is the finest teacher. I recorded Beth singing this with a local (Victoria BC) choir about 10 years ago and was so moved by it that I had to listen to it over and over as I tried to get the best sound possible in post production mixing because the song simply warranted it. I couldn’t stop the tears during the process. I think the line that really got me was “and wears your smile”. The song is even more powerful when heard after hearing her introduction to it. I remain amazed that she is able to hold it together to be able to perform it without falling apart. What a strong woman. God bless her.
When this cd came out, I was diagnosed with lymphoma. My eventual wife loved this album as she really related to it. I got better, got married, had children and lost her to breast cancer... my kids are 9 and 14. I love this music although it is tough to listen to.
Yes, this song tears at your heart and I think of loss all of us have experienced. I think of all those who lost loved ones from 9/11 to loss of a loved one from death or even the end of a relationship where the one who you love will never want to see you again......

She sang this in Derry N.I. in January 2023 just after her husbands death in Dec 2022. I think he must have encouraged her to go ahead with this tour ❤ she was fabulous❤despite everything- she explained how she’d written the song and sang it for her first husband
All I Have was the only song of hers I really knew when my husband saw her cd in my collection (I'd gotten it just for that song)...and he got me Sand & Water because it was her latest album. (That's where the song is actually from). My dad had passed less than 2 years prior, and even though her songs were about a very different relationship, it expressed some stuff nobody had ever articulated for me....it was such a healing experience. 💕💕

A friend just gifted me with the link to this song, saying it always makes her think of my daughter. K was widowed two weeks before her 26th birthday, just as Father's Day was about to begin. She and their 2 year old daughter witnessed the paramedics' attempts to save him, to no avail. They were the loves of each others' lives. Six years later she still struggles to move on but the loss and loneliness are crippling. My heart breaks daily for her and for my inability to help her. Their child is exquisite, the best of both of them, but scarred. To know that my friend sees all of this, and thinks of them, touches me very deeply 💜

I used to play it loudly at the Veteran's Memorial and think of those I lost and some cannot remember because of an inappropriately treated Traumatic Brain Injury with memory loss from a military police assault in 1992 when I was 16 at swim and dive practice and when I was in Germany near Ramstein Air Force Base in Mosbach and Dresden Germany and Siege of Sarajevo in May 1992 during the Yugoslavian Civil War.
