I came here to say this.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who caught that. Lol 😆

Problem is the ads, the description on amazon and the video there, says, its designed for HARD butter. Not sitting out all the time butter. Its supposed to work on butter straight from the fridge. And you proved last time it doesnt do that.
I'm confused. You don't need to shave room temp butter. The point of that knife is to get cold butter to spread when you don't have time to let it warm up?
I thought the same thing! I was like, “but Tyler, you weren’t wrong...”
I thought the point of these ‘innovative’ products was to be able to use them on cold butter.
Lol this is exactly what I was thinking.

Leaving butter out used to be more common. I leave mine in the freezer. I get a stick and leave it in a butter tray on my counter. Salted butter can sit out for 2+ weeks. Depending on the temperature it can sit out for months if stored in a cool dry place lice a root cellar.
Why on Earth would you freeze your butter just leave it in the fridge. Butter is supposed to be covered at room temp cause light will turn butter rancid that's why butter dishes are made of a colored dark glass or ceramic so that it keeps the light out
@@bye92 because it can sometimes take a year for me to use a whole pack of butter. I'd rather just throw away a partial stick that went rancid than a whole box. That's why I leave my butter in the freezer.
usda does not recommend you leave butter out for more than 48 hours because it can turn rancid. back in like the 1970s when butter contained more salt it was okay because salt can be used as a preservative in high enough concentrations modern salted butter doesn't have enough salt in it for that.
@@tylerwade3303 you can definitely leave it out for longer than 48 hours but it must be protected from light that's why butter dishes are normally made of a dark glass or ceramic
I appreciate the fact that when you realize you may have made a mistake, you go back and re-test the product.

What I love about Tyler's vids is he uses stuff like your average joe would and he admits when he should do it a different way. Also, raw toast is forever burned in my brain
In your defense Tyler any knife will work on butter left out for 24 hours. You don't need a holey knife 😇
Edit: Guess I should've watched the entire video before commenting 😅
Nah this knife is still completely useless..
Tylers brain: dont fuck up
Tyler: raw toast 😂
Tylers brain: you had one job 😂🤦♂️
I have never in my life heard that you leave butter out, so I understand Tyler's thought there
Actually used to be very common. Only in recent years have people been refridgerating butter. Considering butter came before fridges it was always a thing at one point
Up until the early 80's you could find butter dishes with a lid you left on the counter. Since butter is curdled cream it will not re-curdle. people use to store food prone to spoliage for months in vats of butter.
@@John-ml2gh That's the thing I'm not struggling with it, I guess it's because I don't use "real" butter or something but it isn't hard at all coming straight from the fridge 🤷♂️

Your ridiculous rules are apparently the death of you.

What I truly love is that Tyler reads the comments and then remakes a video when necessary. Big props to u brother!!!
I've done this my whole life with a regular knife, just lightly scrape the butter with a knife to get thin curled sheets that spread easily.
Yeah, that's pretty much what those "pseudo serrations" are for.
Fucking right!?
Funny, I have never refrigerated butter except for storage. People are strange animals. Keep up the great videos!

I mean he never was wrong he just didn't realize other people kept butter out, for his use all those products wouldn't work because he keeps his butter in the fridge
He wasn't wrong tho... The knife feature "spread hard butter with ease" doesn't work.
yeah he needs that other knife that conducts heat from your hand to warm the butter thats just from the fridge,

@@ChickenYale about?
@@ChickenYale he wasn’t wrong the first time. These items are completely useless lol. They both state they’re for COLD butter, NOT soften butter. Literally defeats the whole purpose of these products by letting the butter soften. He was right the first time, they’re garbage lol
@@ChickenYale I don’t think that’s particularly true. He’s tried products that he’s said were useless but then by the end said he was wrong that it’s actually decent. I think he tests products pretty well. It might not be 100% scientific but he is pretty fair with things.
What was he even wrong about?
Good on you for coming back to this product. Lots of folks in our age range don't know you can keep butter out, covered, for a decent amount of time on the counter. It wasn't until well after I switched away from margarine permanently that I learned about using a covered butter dish at room temperature. It's kind of counter intuitive food safety wise. But, there's nothing worse than needing a triple grilled cheese at 3am and only having a rock hard brick of butter from the fridge to work with. 😆👍
It doesn't tear homemade bread, I actually own this exact knife for that purpose. And muffins
This reminds me I need to learn how to bake bread
Tyler tube is probably the only guy I would sit through and listen about spreading butter on bread 🤣
DID YOU JUST CALL IT RAW TOAST?!!!
The butter-knife with the wholes in it of course forces the butter through the holes, this helps the butter spread more easily by lowering the cohesion rate of the butter, by breaking the molecular bonds made from shaping the butter in the first place.
Kinda on your side Tyler I was always taught to keep butter in the fridge but that's just us apparently
Like you, I was raised to keep butter in the refrigerator so I had the same issue as you did. Your video cleared that up and was helpful. I can't say it's all that much better but at least I get it now! Thanks
First time I saw my fiance's mom leave butter out just sitting in the kitchen my immediate thought was "that's not normal" so even though it's apparently a thing I still keep my butter in the fridge at all times. So I'm right there with you Tyler, I think it's strange too.
tyler holding bread: "raw toast"
You can say that's a "butter" way of eating raw and cooked toast.
Yep, have always left a stick of butter out. I don't know quite how long but after a while it gets a weird taste but doesn't necessarily make you sick
It's great you owned up to your mistake, never knew people kept normal butter in fridge unless it's super hot, or if you use margerine which needs to be refrigerated...
Who refrigerates plastic?!? 🤷🤦
@@parellano100 Everybody who uses plastic to hold items in the fridge. (But I know it was an uneducated slur against margarine which is made of nondairy oils.)
@@653j521 ok, wise one 🦉😀
I made my own some time ago by drilling holes in the edge of a knife. To us it on HARD butter, HOLD IT VERTICALLY AND SCRAPE IT ACROSS THE STICK OF BUTTER. You get the curls which will spread easily on the "raw toast".
"Two pieces of toast and two pieces of "raw" toast." Made me giggle.
You are not wrong at all. You were very correct. No one should be leaving butter out for 24 hours. Whoever told you it should be left out for 24 hours, are just nitpicking on your videos. Kudos to you responding to the comments, but you really didn't need to at all. It was supposed to work with cold butter, not with room temperature butter. You're very talented, keep up the good work Tyler
Im with you tyler, i definitely would never leave butter out for 24hrs
but they are suppost to work when they are right out of the fridge right thats why they made it there is a butter knive that used the heat of ur hand to heat the blade that 1 is perfect u just hold the handle for 30 sec and the blade is warm enough the slice the butter
Bs
As someone who also didn't know that butter was left out on the counter until relatively recently in my life, I have a feeling this is because our families didn't buy "butter." They bought margarine, which is butter-like, but not the same thing. I don't know if butter comes in "tubs" but I know margarine does.
Yes, I buy spreadable butter all the time .
It stays in the fridge and it is still spreadable.
"RAW TOAST"😂🤣😂🤣....EVEN THOUGH I WAS EXPECTING IT I STILL CRACKED UP.
You can go either way with butter. There is some butter that is specifically made to be left on the counter(used for baking mainly).
"Raw toast" is my new favorite thing. Lmfao
Growing up in Iowa my mom would always have a softened stick of butter sitting on the countertop in a "butter dish". I remember this because if I would forget to put the top on our cat would jump up and eat it.
Our cat will do the same thing. 😼
I notice on the top/other side which do go near the butter, of the butter knife (with holes), has what it looks like teeth, so when the butter just come out of the fridge you should use this side first to break the surface of the butter to help the butter go though the hole much easier. So please @TylerTube try this method also, as leaving butter on the counter top for 24 hours before you use it can be risky like you said 'butter is dairy, dairy goes into the fridge', and would you leave buttter out on the counter top 24 hours when the weather is hot or very hot? No as it will turn into liquid and make bacteria will grow on it. So when the company said you can used this knife straight from the fridge means you can do this by using both side of the knife, the teeth like first and then holes. Plus leaving butter or any dairy products on the counter top for 24 hours ro softern up is VERY VERY RISKY as flies can land on it and you do not know where they been and you then spread it on the toast or bread (raw toast) and then you eat it.
you owing to your mistakes and making parodic videos for it makes me love you!
Just make sure the butter being left out is *salted* (unsalted butter will spoil pretty quickly)
So glad you gave the knife a second chance. It works even better on freshly hot toast. 👍 nothing so satisfying than watching the thin butter just melt as you spread it on the hot toast. Lol
No
@@DinoNucci 🤨 not quite sure what you mean by "No" but ok. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
I remember in high school when my mind was blown by people keeping butter out of the fridge. Now it's the only way I keep my butter, so much easier to spread
Toast so raw you can still hear the crushed wheat kernels screaming.
Much respect for coming back to this.
That tube screw holder squeezer thing will be a lot easier to test out on left out 24 hour butter instead of hard refrigerated butter.
If you watch the whole video, he shows that.
Also in your defense this knife is advertised for use with fridge cold butter. The entire point in making those curls is to gives the fridge cold butter more surface area so that it’s soft and spreadable by the time it reaches your bread.
I can't help but laugh every time you said "raw toast"
In colder areas you pretty much can’t butter raw bread like up north where I live. It just rips and falls apart even if you leave your butter out it doesn’t get soft.
Yeah butter can sit out for a few days at a time without going bad, USDA says 2 days but honestly if you keep it in a butter dish so that it gets no light or air and not near hot equipment we had no problem with butter being out from Sunday evening till Friday morning for the school days to have buttered bagels growing up and it would only go in the fridge from Friday morning till Sunday evening, but it was also in a thick ceramic butter dish kept on the kitchen table which is no where near any of the hot parts of the kitchen.
The tub butter which is butter spread is softer than stick butter so you could’ve used out of the fridge and that would’ve worked better as well
“Raw toast” had be dying love your videos man
A lot of restaurants leave butter out too. It's actually a thing that's done.
That “raw toast” cracked me up😂😭
I own this knife and its purpose was to use it on cold butter straight out of the fridge. You are supposed to hold the knife at about 90 degrees to the butter and not flat.
I know many others have probably said it, but you don't just let the butter 'sit out on the counter'. There's a flat dish with a domed lid that covers the butter. I dunno if there's a fancy name for it but we've always called it a 'butter dish'.
I'm about to blow your mind here: Not only can butter live happily on your counter outside the refrigerator, but so can fresh eggs. I have lived with laying hens most of my 60+ years, and fresh clean eggs don't need to be chilled below normal room temperature, as long as you use them within a month or so. They CAN sit longer without much danger, especially if they are very clean, kept dry and below 60 degrees F. Go ahead and search for the rules regarding safely keeping fresh eggs (not cracked, never washed or previously refrigerated) for human consumption.
The only issue I've ever had keeping grocery store butter on the countertop has been the result of moisture condensation collecting on the chilled butter and creating the perfect environment for mold to grow on the surface of the stick of butter or on the butter container. Dry off your butter and don't keep it in an airtight plastic container. Or use it within a few days. Cultured butter can last even longer than fresh butter.
"raw toast" ya done killed me man
I just use a potato peeler on my frozen butter to get thin slices which i lay on the hot toast and it just melts in. No spreading at all thus no tearing.
It's so refreshing to actually hear somebody admit that they were wrong and then take steps to rectify/fix the situation! But dude did I hear you call bread raw toast?
He wasn't wrong though?
@@bird4816 well it was the title to his video
Some of things you say and your approach to stuff is just funny.
Yeah, we keep our butter in the cupboard right beside our toaster, full 1 pound brick, we usually use up that pound of hutter in about 4-5 days, but I grew up never having the butter in the fridge, was always in the cupboard, and the unused stuff In the freezer.
You got me laughing so hard over here with your (raw toast)... Isn't it just a slice of bread 😂😂😂 that hasn't been toasted yet..
Everyone: Bread
Tyler: Raw Toast
You can leave just about anything out of the fridge if it lacks water content or has extreme salt content. Just about any microbe that will grow on your food requires water and high salt content will cause the water in them to be removed by osmosis
You can tell Tyler never made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in his life on plain bread. I ALWAYS tear the bread when I use a regular knife
0:58 yeah it's called a Butter dish haha, it covers it up and that.
I think you missed the point of the butter knife, but still came to the be same result. The benefit of it is that the individual pieces have less surface tension on the bread which prevents it from ripping it apart.
The regular knife will curl the butter too if you scrape off thin pieces instead of big chunks like a mad man. Lol
"Raw toast"
Me having an existential crisis each time he says it.
Butter is badically just fat. That's why it doesn't need refrigeration. It can and it will go rancid, but it does from oxigen. Here in Hungary we have a special type of pottery wich is designed to hold the butter under water (since fats are hydrophobic) so that way it won't go bad, and you still can have it soft and always ready to be spread, if you keep it at room temperature. I'm pretty sure tho, many Eastern European countries have the same or close to same sollution as we have
I can see what people are saying about leaving it out on the bench but i totally agree with Tyler here, i live in Australia and even leaving butter out in winter can leave you with nothing but an oily yellow puddle so any product like butter or margarine goes in the fridge. Lol
Lol "raw toast" actually laughed
I love that graphic t “I void warranties” 😂😂
I grew up with us always having a stick or two of butter out of the fridge. It's so convenient that when my girl and I got our own place we did it too. If like me, you put a dab of butter on your pasta to keep it from sticking together then it's a must.
If you got 'butter' in a tub, it's probably not butter but margarine. You don't leave margarine out because as it melts, it separates the cream and oil. You can leave actual salted butter out as the salt in it preserves the butter.
its the same with eggs too if u are in the UK you will find eggs on a shelf not a fridge at stores
I appreciate you coming back and clearing things up.
I leave the butter in a butter crock on stove or counter and i use small basing brush to apply to bread or toast and i think you use less butter that way just enough to get that flavor 🇺🇲👍
“Raw Toast”😂😂 your vid’s are the best
"Raw toast" lol that had me dying
Just so you know, you can only leave salted butter out. Unsalted butter will go rancid.
Yeah, don't leave butter out on the counter unless you use a LOT of butter. It is dairy and it will go bad if you don't use it up quickly. Despite having most of the milk taken out of the butter, some is still in there and it can go sour. It will also go rancid because it's fat. Keep it in the fridge and reduce the exposure to air.
Next video Tyler apologizes for saying RAW bread lmao
You're not alone, ever since I was a kid butter was always fridged.. Now we leave it out as an adult. lmfao
Margarine and butter are different i also grew up with Margarine in a tube regular butter I've seen people have in a butter dish at the table or counter all throughout my childhood.
Broo. when dude said raw toast did that think when u look at a fake camera in disbelief like did u hear that too raw toast 😂😂😂😂love ur viedos
Alternatively, microwave your raw butter for 10 seconds. 😂
As a kid my grandparents did this and I thought it was weird but it was fine, but at home we always refrigerated butter and as you said , now I feel like leaving butter out of the refrigerator for a long time is bad in some way.
initial explanation - fully understandable, I had the same opinion when I was younger. I love how honest you are and keep up the interesting work. Love the honesty, hope that never changes,
my grandmother has a glass tray like thing with a cover for sticks of butter
when it needs to be softened she leaves it out for a long time with the cover on
I'd still like to see you use that knife with more pressure and a range of angles on cold butter, which I think would produce artistically useful curls. Also the larger slot on the end, which is intended for a single larger curl. Many experiments yet to go.
