Ashley you do BEAUTIFUL work ~ I’m following along with you and learning at the same time ~ you are a very good teacher ~ very much appreciated of your teaching me!!
Absolutely amazing work so beautifully and clearly explained. Can you please put some more designs especially where there are stitches in between the Ararat mountains. Thank you.
Thank you Mabel, and yes it is very easy! It's OK, you can always use slightly thicker thread and still produce gorgeous work. Or work under a magnifying glass that stands on your table.
Hi Ashley. I find your work not only beautiful but stunning as well. It's so nice to see an art rich in heritage. I've never seen this before so have been practicing the first 8 videos. Finally getting the hang of it. I've only got one problem with this particular video, so I'm going to ask if you could please do it slower as I'm just not getting the hang of it. Also, will you be making more videos of others stitches? I'm extremely eager to learn more. Thank you so very much for sharing your amazing talent. Teresa
I'm absolutely loving these, I've done them all except the catepiller and butterfly, but I can't seem to figure out where you finish this particular design and how to finish it off with the net type design. After this there's a Q&A but it seems like part two to this is missing; it's always finished for the caterpillar butterfly and mountain designs. Am I missing something or is there a video missing? Thank you! I'll keep searching, this is such beautiful work I can't believe what I've done! I have some beautiful yarn to make these for christmas, I made one and it's slippery and difficult but it worked and turned out SO beautiful!
I found it in the butterfly! It's very difficult to see and very brief and doesn't have how to connect the end of this design to finish it off but I think I can take it from there. If you could do that again it would be great, the camera kinda cut it off, but it was enough to get the idea. Thanks!
What size needle do you use and what is the name of the needle brand. Also what size thread do you use. Thank you for sharing your talent. I will try to learn this beautiful craft.
+marjs29 Hello! It's a regular needle you'd use to repair a broken button on a dress. The thread is DMC cotton thread, not regular sewing thread. I didn't pay much attention to the size for this video (it doesn't really matter). I'll make sure to let you know the size on my next video.
Hi there Ashley . I have been shuttle tatting for the last three years and enjoy it very much. But I dont like having to starch my work or that once its washed it needs to be pinned down and stretched, unfortunately sometimes the shape us not as beautiful as when i made it . Would you need to starch or sugar needle lace? And does it hold its shape after washing?
Hello Ashley, how do you decide how long to make each little soldier? Of course the spacing between each is relative to keep the round shape, but it seems like each soldier could be short or very long, depending on how much empty space you want between each set of smaller-stitch sections. I hope that makes sense. :) Thank you for all your videos!
This is true, it all depends on how much space you want to leave. To answer your question, how I decide to make each soldier is simply how I envision the piece to look. There is a lot of creative freedom here, and the best way to go about doing this is trial and error. Eventually, you will find your favorite method/style!
@@BecomeInspired you’re welcome. Loving your tutorials so much It’s taken a while but got the hang now. I think the hard part to begin with is the fact you can’t undo work- a bit like tatting. I have so many attempts, 1. 2. or 3 rows in and mistakes made! Just have to concentrate until you get it right. Beautiful craft. Mandy
@@mandodell88 With practice you'll be surprised how easy it is to keep going without mistakes. Naturally, all beginners will make errors. Stay encouraged! 😀

Utterly exquisite! Which type of thread do you recommend and where can I purchase it? I'm located in California. Many thanks.
Thanks so much Bella, the link for the thread is in the video description. 20-60 is best. I'm in California too!!
Do you do a round of just small loops at end of this stitch before you do the mountain stitch?
That's what I usually do, but you can do it any way you'd like.
Beautiful! What is the thickness or weight and length of the thread you use? The one i used seems to thin. Greetings from germany!
20-60 is best. You can find the link in my description.

I wouldn't recommend washing it, but if you do, hand wash it. You can use starch if you'd like.
you must show some simple patterns for beginners, please,,,,,,,

@@BecomeInspired That makes sense, then there is no particular reason to make the soldiers short or tall other than preference. Thank you!
@@NefariousHippie Correct, no particular reason! Just preference.
NICE
