Toby Keith signed Taylor Swift under his record label. He launched her career as a country artist. I was very disappointed in her that she was silent when he passed away this last February. Not even a moment of silence for him, nothing. She forgot where she came from, she forgot about the people that paved the path for her.
Oh wow I didn’t know that. Ofc I knew Taylor was in country, but not with Toby. Yes, Taylor definitely forgot where she came from, she’s not exactly loyal to those who brought her up.
She was never country to begin with. Her debut song tear drops on my guitar almost sounded country any song that she released afterwards was pop. I don't understand why it took her years to figure out she doesn't belong in country. Same thing goes for Maren Morris and the rest.
Toby Keith was a true patriot. With 18 USO tours and 32 #1 hits. I remember after 9/11, he recorded "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue." It embodied the feelings and emotions of Americans at that time. I wish the whole of Americans now would share that sentiment.
It's such a great song, one of which I will never tire no matter how many times I listen. The lyrics, however, reflect the narrative we were told surrounding that horrific day. Like an obedient sheep, I believed the lie, but my days of being a sheep are in the rear view mirror. My heart aches for my fellow Americans who still believe the colossal lie because when the truth is made public they are going to experience a myriad of emotions including, but not limited to: shock and disbelief, confusion, betrayal, outrage, profound sadness. Essentially, they will go through the stages of grief. The reality of that tragic day in 2001 + much more will be revealed. The military (the patriotic Generals who are loyal and haven't been compromised), via an emergency broadcast (from what I understand), will deliver all relevant information to us when they deem the time is appropriate which takes into account ensuring our safety.
Back when he was 'feuding' with the Dixie Chicks, I was able to have the honor of interviewing him. I worked for the local CBS station. We met on his bus, at his house. His manager kept interrupting us, Toby finally told him to just go away. Best four hours of my career. He even signed a couple CDs for my brother who was in Iraq at the time
@@jeffrunyan2691he caught some hell for not singing that song and a few others when he performed with USO. Others thought him cowardly when an incoming alarm went off and he panicked mid performance. Saw him in the post exchange, just nodded towards him and went about my day. Looked like he had one hell of a day. It was late summer of 2008 on COB Speicher Iraq.
I love watching an esteemed religious and political intellectual like Michael Knowles dissertate over a Toby Keith music video from the late 2000s. This is what the internet is all about.
When 9/11 occurred, there were two songs that helped kids like me to cope with what all was happening back then: "Where Were You?" by Alan Jackson and "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" by Toby Keith. Jackson helped us to focus on loving our neighbors; Keith helped us by replacing fear with a sense of patriotism. I still listen to those two songs often, especially when 9/11 rolls around. Many of Keith's other music videos were comedic and were therefore also very helpful.
Thank you, Michael, for pointing out that turn of a phrase..."I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was." I have watched dozens of video reactions to this song and you are the only one who has pointed this out. Everyone seems to just ignore it, but I think it makes the song. Toby was a master!
This man did more for the USO than anyone but Bob Hope. I saw him in Italy after he left Afghanistan. You could tell he was so tired but he and one acoustic guitar player got on stage and played for two solid hours for the troops there. Then stayed and took pictures and signed autographs. Being a fellow Okie, I can’t say enough good things about him. I went to the same high school as Reba McEntire and I can tell you she took really good care of her parents. Toby Keith was a philanthropist, a patriot and from everyone I know who knew him personally an all around good guy.
This song is so good! One of my favorites from Toby Keith. An oldie but goodie. May he Rest In Peace. Courtesy of the red white and blue is an epic patriotic banger in response to 9/11 and Red Solo cup is a funny stupid song. My dad was obsessed with red solo cup for years, he would sing it obnoxiously to make me laugh 😂
It had another nugget in there too. "My body (mind) says you can't do that, but my pride says oh yes you can." Pretty sure we've all been there. 🙂 Thanks for your reaction--Toby Keith was a legend.
Toby Keith was the best! He did so much for our troops. I see other comments about his song/video of 'The Angry American/Courtesy of the Red White and Blue' If you want a big dose of patriotism, watch it. It's great. You might even cry Michael.
Michael you should have taken the time right from go , to have shared that he had passed. He passed back on February 5,2024. Pray for his family and friends. Loved that he loved America and was never afraid to show it.
Toby Keith did a Ford truck commercial on my friend’s farm a few years ago and then did a concert that same night. She met him and gave him a green scapular, and met him again, backstage after the concert and he was wearing it!
God rest his soul. Toby Keith was a very entertaining man. I got to see him at a small concert when he was up and coming back in the day. Good memories.
Michael, this fits Toby's personality so well. He was a big partner for years. He just had a great sense of humor. That line is used a lot!!! You'll never know how many ppl have laughed at this video over and over. We will miss Toby Keith. Lost a good patriotic man. Rest in peace sir.
Back in 2003, aboard the Nimitz, we pulled into Jebel Ali, UAE. They played Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue one night in the sand box. Everyone was drinking and singing along. Good times. Been a Toby Keith fan ever since.
Toby Keith was a super star who put America First and played for the Trump 2016 Inauguration. He played for Obama at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. He also was the performer of several very patriotic songs inspiring the US military and supporting patriots.
This song made me a Toby fan. It's such a lighthearted funny song that always gets the fellas talking at family bbq's. Love seeing Michael do random reviews of stuff like this! Hilarious takes!
Dear Michael, Toby has so much more to delight you, my friend. As a married man yourself, I defy you not to totally relate to "I wanna talk about me." Toby's entire catalog is ear candy that will help you realize why he was so much beloved by his fans and his musical peers. Another country singer has a memorable phrase you might like: "How can I miss you if you won't leave?" Toby did and I do.
One of the best Oklahomans ever. Met him in Stillwater after my Cowboys beat his Sooners in hoops. Lead the entire bar in “Should have been a Cowboy.” He was currently dying from cancer when he did that.. Just a great human. RIP Tobey! 🧡
Man, I love Toby Keith. He literally stood for America I’m so glad that my dad used to play his music when I was little and was able to grow up with this music Absolutely love when you listen to country music Can you listen to a song about the 911?
Hey Micheal, please do more Toby Keith reviews. The guy was an american patriot. Please review "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue." And if You want more chuckles, do "Too little too late" or "I love this bar."
My man straight up sang about a menage with twin sisters. Had that dawg innim, as the kids say (I think?). But seriously, when he dropped that "my daddy served in the army" line in Courtesy? Oh man, you can just feel the 'merica pop you right in the chest.
Was Toby's driver a few times. He was a big personality that went out of his way to raise those around him. Super genuine. When Sammy Hagar and him partied it seemed a natural.
I got into country music late when I was around 16 years old. He was my first concert at the local amphitheater. I got his 35 greatest hits CD and played it nonstop for the next two months.
Michael & Michael's team, I'm 19, Toby's music was the soundtrack of my upbringing and means a ton to me! I'd really love if for a future Monday you could listen to his song "My List". I think it's much more profound and indicative of who Toby was.
Toby was so damned good to our troops when he was here. God definitely said "well done my good and faithful servant" when he arrived at them pearly gates.
You should look into a few of his videos…. Stays in Mexico, You Ain’t Much Fun (Since I Quit Drinking), American Ride, Call A Marine, and How Do You Like Me Now are some funny ones…. A patriotic one is Made In America. A more somber, but beautiful song and video is American Soldier.
I made a playlist on spotify with all the music Michael Knowles has reviewed so far. the title is Michael Knowles. the description is music review. the picture is micheal at the premier of lady ballers and it's under the name Wyatt N. I was very happy to add this song today.

Not even a moment of silence for him, nothing. She forgot where she came from, she forgot about the people that paved the path for her.
Taylor showed who she is by her silence. Taylor is not a nice or good person. She is into witchcraft and loves to have wicked people all around her.
She sold out. Can’t seem to be associated with anything right wing.
Oh wow I didn’t know that. Ofc I knew Taylor was in country, but not with Toby. Yes, Taylor definitely forgot where she came from, she’s not exactly loyal to those who brought her up.
Infuriating! She wouldn’t be who she is today without Toby Keith.
