  • Tourists arrive by airplane to visit Kotzebue -- Qikiqtaġruk in the Iñupiaq language -- in Northwest Alaska. There they experience an Alaska Native dancing and drumming demonstration, participate in a blanket toss, and watch as fish are cleaned and dried on a rack. They retire to the Nullaġvik Hotel on Front Street. These scenes were filmed circa the 1980s by Alaskan filmmaker Bill Bacon (Color/Silent/16mm film).
These clips are from AAF-20086 of the William W. Bacon III collection held by the Alaska Film Archives, a unit of the Alaska and Polar Regions Collections & Archives Department in the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
