I was at the NAC in Ottawa a few weeks back to see Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. They had a few surprise guests and right at the end Colin James walked out. I just about died. He is a very underrated musician. His guitar playing is amazing and he still sounds nice and crisp on the mic. He made my year. ❤
I am another person brought here due to hearing it on Due South! Colin James has to be one of the most underrated performers of our time! From this early work to his blues phase then rockabilly and now soulful sounds he can do it all and do it well! I wish people would recognize what a true treasure he is!☮️💜
Agreed
Due South is awesome.
An air of Gary Moore too.
Got that right!!
I'm so glad i'm not the only one here who was brought here by Due South. I recently binged it over the Christmas period after not having seen it for 25 years. And i loved the show all the more. This song was on one of the episodes and i had to look it up.
Freakin’ amazing song and this is all the reviews it gets? People are f**ked!
Great composition!!!!
I can not believe the negative posts about him....he is the most under rated performer.
Absolutely…..people are evil and jealous
Perhaps it's Women who RESENT 'Being Called Out"?
SERIOUSLY!
😂
He is! I’ve always loved him!❤
How come I can't like this every time I play this song? So unfair.
Thanks for writing this Colin.
It's true blah. Sadly, when Mr James passes, a long time from now I hope he will finally get the avalanche of accolades. If not we will still have his awesome rockabilly voice, wicked guitar and soul tearing horns.
You hit it on the head 100% agree with you
This is the kind of song that makes me like television soundtracks. The only place I'd heard it up until about 2010 was in an episode of 'Due South', which I always thought was a great show. That and 'Third Watch', along with the ancient 'Second Noah' come to mind for providing the ear-candy that made me squint at the TV screen when the credits rolled. This song is fantastic. It's powerfully emotive. That's the primary, oh-so-essential ingredient lacking in formulaic music being puked out today.
Yes, just heard it on Due South. Amazing song.
He’s my ELVIS! Seen him a dozen times and gets better every time! PLus he’s a really nice guy!! Every Canadian should see him perform, you will rock the night away, 🤘🏻🇨🇦
This is not only a great song and fantastic performance but superb production and an incredible guitar solo. Have opened for Colin a couple times, great talent and super guy. ✌️🇨🇦
1 of the best songs ever!!
Colin is awesome..
It's a Great BREAKUP Tune so it's Difficult to Label...
COLIN JAMES is not only a Strong Songwriter but his Guitar Chops are BRILLIANT!
TRULY!
❤
This is a fabulous song. It should be used in television or movie
Great tune written by the great Morgan Davis!

Colin is a national treasure. Should be a superstar. Period!
Saw Colin James today at Burlington Sound of Music Festival. He played this live. Great guitar work.
Saw Colin live yesterday.. still that same "wow" smile!
I have met this wonderful man and seen him on and off for 30 years. Heard he spent a little time in his teens under the tutelage of the great Stevie Ray Vaughan
@Shadow-sm8hs
That's true.
Colin was young when he opened a few concerts for SRV.
I believe it was SRV that introduced him as Colin James (James is his middle name) rather than Colin Munn.
God that guy was an amazing signer and guitarist
I listened to this song while driving home one day, and I thought to myself, this black dude has some real soul in his voice! My mind has been blown!
Why isn't he nominated for the R&R Hall of Fame? He is much better than the 2019 nominations.
Seen this twice at Lulu's Kitchener Ontario Canada.....he is amazing....just amazing.....wish Lulu's was still around
jacqueline... i saw him at Lulu's as well...he was very good live..
I saw him there too. Great show!! Stole my parents car to get there. 3:41
wow now this one sounds like SRV meets the boss meets Elvis. The voice reminds me of a young Elvis. Love it. 3 of my favs. Great job.
Incredible guitar work. I always rewind to the solo cause I cant get enough of it.
Canada best hitten secret. Colin
Absolutely love this song and Colin James!! Everyone should and he and his band sound amazing live-just like the recordings!
Finally....no lies.
Did you hâve a TOUGH TIME TOO trying today for PLAYING THIS TUNE?
The Google owned Service will NOT easily PLAY IT for me!
Must be a 'Robot Glitz', HUH?
Am I the only person who knows this from Due South? I saw it as a child, and remembered this song but wasn't sure given how long had passed since hearing it. Now, last time I saw this Due South ep, I remembered this song from it, and I always envisioned, I have no idea, but I was sure it was a black guy singing? Sounds terrible haha. But aye, I randomly remembered the song again a few days ago, I have "blues kicks" every so often where I have to get that sliding/steel/smooth guitar sound and I remembered this. And I've been listening to it for days now haha
Yesss!!!! Such a great show and this song will always remind me of that episode;)
Me too, loved that series
No you are bit the Only one and also great show
Never want to stop listening......what a song!
Thanks a million......that is awesome.......love it!
Colin and Stevie had a tight friendship. Colin admired him so much that when he heard Stevie died, he cancelled the rest of the tour he was on at the time.
absolutely awesome song, full of passion and lament. its a shame some people think they are above all others and offer their childish comments.
Agree...
If you do not have Something Positive to Say, simply Move On...

Awesome Colin
So I was listening to this in the car with my mum. I asked her to let me sit in the car to listen to it to hear the title, but she kicked me out. A year later I heard it in the car, and drove around the block just to listen to this and find out the title of this beautiful song!
Excellent
Il blues e anche sensualita
its very Stevie Ray Vaughan, great song.
Why'd you lie is a great tune written by Morgan Davis tune, check out his song Reefer Man..
I have met him and he is a very nice man, very unassuming, and ya he was with his wife.
I heard this song for the first time driving home the other day on the radio and thought it was Pink Floyd. what a great guitar riff, amazing song!
Still listening in 2021,
Why'd You Lie Lyrics
The very first rule
That you learned in school
Was that you shouldn't try to fool
The people you're close to
And now you're almost full grown
I really should've known
If I left you on your own
You wouldn't do like you're supposed to
Why'd you lie?
Don't want to hear no alibis
Don't want to know the reasons why
You left me here to cry
While you were out there loving him
And now you're acting real nice
You're all sugar and spice
You've already thrown the dice
Your chances are real slim
Why'd you lie?
Why'd you lie?
You'd better make a correction
To all this deception
And start treating me right
'Cause we had discussed it
'Til I was disgusted
There's one thing that I have to say
All about sleeping in another man's bed
Why'd you lie?
Why'd you lie?
The very first rule
That you learned in school
Was that you shouldn't try to fool
The people you're close to
Why'd you lie?
Why'd you lie?
Why'd you lie?
Why'd you lie?
