Trent hi

Great video. A bit of advice. Take a 1200 grit sandpaper and rub the cracks Then do exactly what you did but this time use a blow dryer on hot for a few seconds. What that does is makes the glue a bit easier to fill those really small cracks then wait 10-15 min like u did. This also works great on car windshields. If you have a crack from top to bottom. This will fix it I also call this glue. Instant glass. Good luck. Great video.
Also. Use a 1200 1500. 2000 and 3000 grit papers and polish your glass. The friction from these very very fine sand papers will heat up the glue and the glass and will become one.
A common playing card cut down the middle makes a nice smoothing tool instead of the plastic knife. Well done. I use epoxy for most everything.
Im just learning about this wonder goo. Will be using it on everything now...!!!
those gas station loyalty cards work wonders for this and lots of other stuff too. I snag a few different types at every gas station I can for whatever occasion I need, from jimmying my door to acting like a spreader or squeegee, can't underestimate the versatility of a playing card or various thickness and material loyalty cards.
You should take a heat gun or if you don’t have access to a heat gun then use a hair dryer, everyone has a hair dryer around the house.
The heat help thin the compound allowing it to fill the smaller cracks and also makes all of the air bubbles rise to the surface.
Without applying the extra heat the an epoxy, glue or other adhesive compounds you run the risk of not completely filling and sealing the desired area.
So if possible always use extra heat when pouring a sealant or adhesive and you won’t have to worry about air bubbles being trapped throughout the glue, the compound will thin out and fill smaller cracks and spaces more easily and leave you with a clear glass like product.
Do you think epoxy is still the best way to go about fixing those cracks?
From RC model building experience this epoxy tip.
After applying the epoxy, cover with clear packing tape and press as flat as possible. Once dry the surface will be as smooth as glass.
Perfect, been wondering what to do on the truck bodies that I bash with
Sticky side up (away from screen, non sticky side toward screen)? Does the tape come off clean? Or are you saying leave it on???
Idea is to get the epoxy *in* the glass, not sitting on top. Not practical for screen repair.
This was great. Anything that stops the spider cracks is a winner. Those just continue to grow. They drop fine pieces of glass. This fix stops them. That is really cool. Watched a few of your videos. You have a nice professional voice. A great instructor teaching style. Have you taught anywhere before? Just wondering. I just get that from your videos. Great job. Look forward to watching more. I now have a phone with edge cracks. I just want to use it as a tablet. I think this might be perfect. Thank you. Keep making great videos.
Thanks for that amazing video. I would really like to see the video that you said you were gonna use the glass resin on. I've liked and subbed. Thanks again for the great video and info.
Good video and results. Some advice though for an even better (less noticeable) repair) is a very important step that I think you completely missed. And one that is essential for a device which has been handled hundreds of times by hands. CLEANING preparation! That screen needs to be properly cleaned with alcohol - I can't think of anything else that would work as effectively. Not poured in, so it could get under the glass and damage or stain something, but rubbed in well into the damage and all around so that the resin will bond even better than in this video. Hands and fingers have natural oils and that will be ALL over that glass and in the cracks as well. You need to remove that oil film and grubbiness first.
I love videos where the poster actually speaks.
I was able to do this to one of my phones and then put a tempered glass protector over it. This was an easy fix, thank you!
Great! Had exactly the same damage to the corner area except I am 62 and not 5!!! Thanks for this.
Luckily it works for all ages. Thanks for watching
Weird brag, but... ok
That's ace! Very simple: wouldn't have dared trying it first though!! 😁 Probably will attempt on an old phone.
Love the video. It was very informative. Thanks!!

Curved glass too 😥 I don't think this would be a good idea with a curved screen, too much of a gap between the glass and the LCD panel, I'd be afraid this stuff would drip inside, and damage the actual display.
The sound of the dog drinking water at the beginning 😊
Wow this is awesome
I'd probably add a bit of heat or a drop of lacquer thinker to make it runny. Or I would use the UV curing glue, it is very runny, but good job.
Thanks! I may try that in a future video
Good job ....If u use the depoxi instead of empoxi on black area of tab...if need good finishing first depoxi and then epoxi over it ....then broken line will not b visible....
WHat is the difference? THanks.
Thank you for such brilliant idea
Thank you
Excelente opción para detener parcialmente la fractura .... gracias por compartir,,, saludos
I'll try it out, thanks for sharing :- )
I used that glue with the blue light to cure it and it lasted on my phone for over a year. I pressed it down into the cracks then wiped excess off screen before i set the glue. I had little cracks up to chunks of glass missing...worked light magic
Thanks for the tip👍
It worked for u
I just tried that and it worked great. Thanks a lot. Gives you time to work it without it drying before you hit it with UV light.
I’m in a similar situation with the cracked back of my iPhone 11. The back is apparently made of a variation of gorilla glass, so I’m going to attempt a similar coverup to the one you performed in this video.
While you were "smoothing" the epoxy, I kept wondering why you didn't use the back (SMOOTH side) of the knife. 😁
In England they have car screen repairers that under insurance will come out and repair a stone chip on the front car screen and this is done under pressure where the hole is cleaned and then pressure filled with a clear epoxy filler then polished so you cant see the chip. Bob in the UK
Hello mate!
my glasses cracked from top to down straight
Thanks for the info. A Lisle 52000 Razor Blade Scraper, or like tool, would make scraping the screen off much easier and have less risk of cutting yourself.
I've been doing that for ages, 2 x parts araldite with a wee spot of black paint dripped in and mixed, fill the broken bit and Bob's yet uncle
Genial einfach, einfach genial
thank you very much, for this easy to do, do it yourself repair instruction. I did it myself just a few minutes ago and it worked perfectly. Sure, the phone dont look like a new one. But thats not the intention. You get your phone back perfectly functioning. and thats the merrit you get. Forget about all those crazy instructions, that want to help you replacing the cover. Thanks a lot.
Love this idea!,,,
Thanks for watching!
Did it work to you
Just paint the boarder black now
It's hard to see the video through the cracks on my phone.
Lol
Same here
I was going to use that exact sentence. 😁
Your fingernails or lack there of make mine hurt! Thanks for the info, I got a phone I'm gonna give this a go! Thanks
My experience with Gorilla Glass has been great. I've dropped my cellphones many times but I've never experienced a cracked screen.
Try dropping it on concrete roads. I have, that's why I'm here. 😅
Gonna try this on the back glass on my iPhone, thanks!
im skeptical at the beginning..but its better than i expected....good idea
I like excellent very useful too know....Thanks that for great tip
Scraping like that towards your arm, I held my breath.
Hi Trent, i would like to ask you if this tool works for samsung a8
Thanks mate, well done ! I'll try that myself today.. phone dropped two days ago 😆
How did it go
@@waronassange Sorry to say, but it didn't work out well. The screen went black after flickering for a few seconds and that was it. Couldn't start the mobile anymore so I lost some pictures and data. And the phone of course lol.
@@McFeegle100 lol, aint I am happy I waited for a response before I also tried it.
Sorry about your phone though...not sure were your located but if you still have the device; most independent (unaffiliated) repairman should be able to at least copy data for relatively low cost... if you luck you might be able to trade device for data....
@@waronassange Thanks mate, I've got myself a new one and buried the old one. Unfortunately a recovery wasn't possible due the mobile didn't respond to anything after my attempt to fix it. Some chip must have been seriously damaged ..
Dollar General, package of popsicle sticks $1. I can confirm that JB Clear Weld dries clear as well. I wonder if thinning the epoxy with denatured alcohol would help it penetrate into the cracks. An acceptable mix ratio is 15 to 20% of the volume, which means that you take 15 fluid ounces of epoxy and mix it with 1 fluid ounce of solvent. Obviously 15 fluid ounces of epoxy is *way* more than needed. This would also reduce the drying/curing time, so one would have to work quickly if using a 5 minute epoxy.
I have an S7 with a cracked screen and may just try it.
Nice sound, to bad my screen is broken, I guess video is awesome as well...
Always try to push the blade away from you VS towards yourself. Scraping the screen requires pressure. A good glass paint scraper works best and safer
It's a butter knife-
@@yourdailyperson9881 hes not talking about that🤦♂️
@@yourdailyperson9881 hum
LOL I was cringing pretty bad when he was scraping away the epoxy with the razor and pulling it toward his fingers and arm. All I could think was please dont slip, please dont slip, please dont slip...
Thanks for this video!! What are your other vídeos about??
pedro tomé thanks! I have other videos on phone screen repair and then some on diy projects. I also occasionally do product reviews on items that interest me.
What are those items that interest you, or may interest you?
@@pedrotome9119 To find out, check out his channel.
I always take apart everything (even high voltage things)
You need to put the phone or tablet in a vacuum to complete the repair. Once you apply the epoxy, put it in a vacuum and suck all the air out and then let sit. The epoxy will be sucked into the cracks and reduce the viability of the cracks.
Try not to put li-poly battery in the vacuum thoe ;)
Patrick Keefer was that a joke?
Patrick Keefer let l
Patrick Keefer ooo
Bancmat card is better than a plastic knife. The operationi is to do in the vacum.
Only thing missing is the hold my beer moment
This is why you use B-7000 instead of this stuff. B-7000 is self-leveling, eliminating the need for the razor blade treatment. It also comes with a precise applicator which precludes the "nuclear" treatment as shown in this video.
Put some loca 2500 on top with a tempered glass screen protector.
Get a baby proof silicon cover and a glass screen protector. Problem solved
That is exactly what I plan to do....Im not slopping Glue on my phone...
The glass is already broken
Would this render the touch sensitivity less sensitive ?
can you do this, with a shattered screen and see if still works
I'm going to try this on my husband new tablet that he dropped 👍hoping it'll work we'll, thanks
Thanks buddy
Thank you
Your da best UA-cam's
Thumbs up dude!
Wheather it works or not, It's satisfying
Place a piece of paper wax paper or clear tape over the epoxy and once dried and removed it will be smooth as glass and no need to sand it. I use this technique to make RC model airplanes.
How much epoxy
One can also use the yellow captan tape that is semi-opaque yellow colored non-stick non-conductive tape that when removed the glass will be completely smooth without having the need to sand it.
Would using the flat side of the knife rather than serrated side have worked better as you said you wouldn't normally have used a serrated edge coz all I have is one of these knives
I must say i can confirm this worked a treat on my old samsung s7 .Its oldie but if it aint broke why throw it away.A little or scratch can just about be fixed 80% id say. 1st clear the affected area by wiping a little alcohol soaked ( not soaked !)towel and dry .The small hair line cracks can be rubbed out by feel and not appearance by the time you use the blade to cut off the excess epoxy .what i did different is that i taped all around the crack and over the metal edges so as to not smear it all over the place.I epoxy it but pressed the epoxy into the crack with a bit of pressure .i pulled off the tape about 5 minutes after the epoxy was applied (16 hour dying time araldite epoxy ) .I ran the epoxy area under the hair dryer for about 2 mins .and let it dry for about 10 mins after that .By that stage i could blade it out while it reasonably soft.
I then repeated the process but this time when i once dry about an hour later ,i used used a very low grit sandpaper strip to rub the anodise'd metal frame to smooth out the dent on the metal next to the crack.
Im surprised how well it worked .i even ran a fibre cloth to the clean edges and it didnt even catch on the cracked area .
Many thanks tech minded!
should try a rugged case, they help. i bought a phone made with gorilla glass and droped it a few times already and nothing happened at all.
I used UV Arcrylic, it’s liquid until it hits the uv lamb. Worked out perfectly.
Thanks, I've had nail polish on my phone for the last year, I need something stronger. I love that I can scrape it off after. I left a like ♥
nice trick
Thank you sir :)
Thank you for watching!
Hey bro did u prove it yourself ?
Awesome my friend I used similar stuff gorilla glue clear kind
You can get a plastic scraper handle for that blade. Easier and safer to use if you dislike the sight of blood.
That is so so gr8
I have a folding Buck Alpha Hunter and would like some custom scales using black bull horns or exotic wood. How much would u charge?
Thank you!
Thumbs up for trying.
Venomous Fang when he puts his bitten, chewed up nail, it's disgusting.
I'll try this out...
You can also use a cigarette lighter in some applications where you’re able to articulate the flame safely without having to hold it to close to the surface for long periods of time, be careful trying that method especially when using flammable sealants, epoxy’s, glues and other compounds.
I love the sound of the dog eating and drinking!
Thank you. She was a wonderful dog. RIP Lolly
You can wipe off the screen with a cloth instead for a smoother finish.
Question: have you sand n polished it ? I'm a resin artist just curious
I'm looking for your video on how to repair glass cracks. I have a vase that has cracks and may have leakage.
A squeegee for screen printing works BEST. Available at any art supply store... And POLYCRYLIC (spray or liquid, but LIQUID WORKS BEST) available at any hardware store... That’s what we use to fix the glass on the BIG SOLAR PANELS at the farm... Also how I’ve fixed countless screens for my clumsy friends... OR you can use those “Safelife”-type windshield repair kits, that they sell at any auto-parts store - but those are pricey...
Im trying this
epoxy + black permanent marker ,best combo
How do I use it with black permanent marker?
Wow, great. Works better when I used honey jelly ! Now, my AT&T data converted to "unlimited data". Thanks
This is first time watching your first video that is this video right now ☺️
Did I hear it correctly " If your hearing cracking sounds that is my dog Loli "
Yes, lol. Her name is Lolly, and she loves to walk across my hardwood floor as I'm recording a video. It causes the clicking noise in the background.
*you're
"but many phones just about every tablet you're gonna have this border around your screen"
6 years later, borders are gone.
If that blade snap suddenly you may loose a finger or if you are lucky just a few stitches use a grinder instead.
pululo98 a grinder on a phone screen sounds like a bad idea
Trent , l guess you didn't get the joke.
'lose'
pululo98 yep
just wanted to say that it would have been much easier to remove most of the excess epoxy if you used the razor within the 5 allotted minutes . around the 3-4 minute mark after mixing the 2 parts its no longer runny but still soft enough to cut/scrape
.
I was afraid it would pull some of the other epoxy out of the crack if I didn't let it fully dry first
@@TrentPierceProjects It's POSSIBLE it pulls loose/up some when trying to cut it with the razor after it sets too. Maybe do another video trying both ways to see which worked easier???
@@whourdadie I may have to revisit this one just to try that. Thank you
its way cheaper than replacing the screen I might consider testing with some fine sand paper for the finish and it will feel smooth
a screen is like 11 dollars
What happens if you put this on part of the touch screen that you use? Will touching buttons still work?
I'm thinking probably not, hopefully there was a functional demonstration.
Awesomeness
I saw a new painter at Associated air who was shown an engine cowl with runs in the paint but still fresh. He was to sand paint and had all day. He took a razor blade and cut the runs off and buffed it out in about 10 minutes. Polyurethane.
But the plastic midframe on mine is damaged so the screen has nothing to stay glued down to. I really need to build up the missing shattered piece of plastic so the LCD can adhere. Any suggestions?
Ok I just Out if the blue came across this video my screen is cracked badly in places. I thought I was going to have to get another phone through my insurance I'm going to try this thank you I hope it works. God bless
Karen Berry Did it work
i have a question. i have samsung galaxy j5 2015 and i have top of the screen big space and on top of the screen is a gap for a screen from flash light, and front camera. i need to know can i use it without any risk?
Great narrating. Thanks for this video. Next time show us Lolly 💕💕💕
Does it work if the tiny pixels show in the middle of the cracks
Big wow
i thought that you have a steak wallpaper and try to cut it with the steak knife you got there
Try using rainx glass repair epoxy
I will try that thanks 🙂
@@jessicaquarrells3687 did it work ?
It actually will not stop the glass from further cracking if pressure is applied. There is no way to stop shattered glass from expanding when pressed on.
You should have used some of that really thin Sand paper would have been smoother
😂😂😂😂😂
what happens with the digitizer, if you the have to change it
Dropped my phone today😣 Thanks for the courage to use some glue on my phone as I cannot get a new one at this time😌
