the one piece live action truly showed me that live action adaptations are not doomed to fail, that show by all mean should’ve been horrible given how insanely difficult it was to adapt. i have very high hopes for the zelda movie, can’t wait to hear more on it
The One Piece and Last of Us live action gave me hopes for future projects that have been being worked on like this upcoming Zelda movie or the adaptation of Akira. Which I hope is good because the source material is SO GOOD
Ahh, the one piece live action was my favorite show series.
Not a fan of Dragonball Evolution? 🤣😆
They better make link like left-handed
You, Zeltik, and other major Zelda channels should all get together and see the movie all at the same time and make a group video of a before and after reaction!!! Most likely won’t happen but that would actually be amazing.
I hope Link wears the Green Tunic for this upcoming unknown movie.
The one from TP.
I get the feeling that a Miyazki-esque magic/whimsy live action film will be like dark high fantasy 80s/90s movies. Stuff like A Never Ending Story, A Wrinkle In Time, and even though it's muppets, The Dark Crystal also has a similar vibe. The random unexplained magic elements, very dark tonal lows mixed with whimsical highs, and a huge focus on the fantasy world - I think that's what he'll be going for.
In words of my dad “What if Danny Divieto was Tingle” LOL
Tbh I wish lol
I have been hoping for a really good movie based on OOT! Probably not gonna get that. But what a beautiful story that was! Whatever it turns out to be, I’m sure it will be good. And I’m looking forward to seeing it!
Casting a largely unknown actor as Link could work, for example Mark Hamill was very unknown prior to Star Wars. But in that case, very few people anticipated Star Wars would be wildly successful, though it may seem hard to believe now.
Don't let anyone from Star Wars voice cast the Zelda characters. I hate Star Wars.
@@AaronMM-j2o It was just an example, something can be successful with unkowns playing young leads. No one in Star Wars now counts as being an unknown.
Netflix' One Piece did this too, almost all the actors there came out of seemingly nowhere but they fit so well.
@@birdflox1337mackenyu is a super popular Japanese actor
The movie needs a ZeldaMaster cameo
Words cannot describe how excited I am for the movie. I also heard in an interview after The Maze Runner was filmed (another movie Wes Ball directed!), Thomas Brodie-Sangster reported that he was approached by Wes a number of times, and Wes would tell him that he thinks Thomas would be a perfect fit for Link in a live action Zelda movie. Personally, I would love to see Tbs as Link 🤩
I can see it
Words can't describe how much I hate the thought of this movie
I'm sorry but after I looked up who this Tom guy was I'm sorry to say this but he doesn't fit link at all and I mean at all at all i can understand that elf from lord of the rings with aragorn and the dwarf (forgot his name but he had it looked like a tunic and he was a bow user)
@@bruh_ruok4081 agreed and I'd like to note that the best actor for Link is Cole Sprouse! He has the facial features for it.
@@Atima. No,, the best actor for Link would be Cdotkom. 100%
Reading that quote makes me relieved because the only similarity between Zelda and Lord of the Rings is “both IPs are set in a fantasy world”. Zelda shares much more with Studio Ghibli movies than Lord of the Rings, it’s a different vibe.
Not true. The first two games which created the Legend of Zelda series were inspired by Lord of the Rings books when writer Takashi Tezuka created them alongside Miyamoto. The beta name for the Deku Scrub in Ocarina of Time was "Hobbit". And Eiji Aonuma stated that Twilight Princess was inspired by the Lord of the Rings movies.
I’m so excited for this movie, definitely seeing it in theaters. I really hope they do Zelda justice, if they mess it up I would be so sad lol 😅
I remember a Legend Of Zelda Movie "trailer" that came out like 10-15 years ago, I think by IGN, that got me so excited, it looked really good, but turned out to not be real (for whatever reason). What will make it truly good is (1) Script/Story; (2) Outstanding Music; and (3) Mostly or All Unknown Talented Actors. In that order. Good to know that the director is taking it seriously to make it true to legend and will strive for excellence. Thanks Luke!
Apparently that IGN video was an April fools day video, but it actually looked really good
@@Glitchyy07 Yes, that's right! It was hard to believe they'd make such a production as a joke. It did look good, even the suggestion of a storyline. I went back and looked it up on youtube. Still good!
All I want in this movie is Morshu
I looked him up sine i forgot who that was only to see he is a musical artist aperantly
he is out there making a name for himself
Hey ZeldaMaster i'm a fan of the Zelda series myself. Here is a question for you my friend. Do you think that Miyamoto and Wes Ball will make this movie canon to the timeline or will this movie begin a series of its own in another universe much like the DCEU and MCU?
I wouldn't mind either. If it's a part of the timeline it wouldn't alter much. But if they contain it in it's own universe that works too
If it is going to be part of the timeline. Which timeline would you like to see it fall under Child, Adult or Fallen timeline?@@ZeldaMaster
I’m thinking we’ll get the movie around 2030. And will be well worth the wait! ❤
Really? 7 years from now? That might be a little much. I’d say three years max in my opinion
@@AsherToperoff I hope so! But they haven’t even started on it yet and it will be a while before they do and a movie like that will take years
@@AsherToperofftbf the director said after he’s done directing the new planet of the apes movie, he’s taking a break and then working on the Zelda movie
@@Glitchyy07 yeah I guess your right but ten 2030 might be a little long though in my opinion. Otherwise it makes sense what you’re saying
I wonder what timeline the movie will use for the movie?
God I hope this movie doesn't suck
I'm so excited for the movie soundtrack. The games have all exceeded my expectations and I jam out to them regularly. I expect nothing less than amazing for the movie as well.
I think if they used mo-cap for some of hyrules different races like the Zora or Gorons, it could be really amazing!
Your office is AMAZING. Very jealous 😂
Ok here's my take but expect it to be longer.
I'm surely sceptical too but we shouldn't forget that Miyamoto has a say in this. And if anyone knows how to set the right tone for this movie it's him. Also the fact that Wes Ball seems to be a fan for real makes this a passion project for him. All these comments like "he's just saying this and that for marketing" is way too negative. Isn't it proof enough about him being a fan when you read his tweet from 13 years ago? Also he just recently liked a post on twitter/X where someone posted a pic with the OoT logo because 25th anniversary. He's an OG fan and i believe his words about him growing up with it.
Also.. Just because he directed no masterpieces yet doesn't make him a bad director. Peter Jackson also made nothing special up until the Lotr trilogy. And suddenly he delivered some of the finest pieces in cinema history. Why? Because it was HIS passion project. With the slight difference that he had a lot freedom indeed. I doubt Wes has as much freedom but once again.. Miyamoto is involved too. Let's just hope the studio or Avi don't interfere too much.
The statement it won't be like LOTR is good and bad to me.
Good because it should be it's own thing indeed. We don't want a LOTR clone movie with the exact same tone etc. Also that's not what Zelda is.
Bad because i'm a huge LOTR fan and i honestly always wanted a LOTR-esque Zelda movie or series. At least in terms of scale and soundtrack.
In terms of tone the Zelda movie should be a perfect blend of light hearted (funny) yet dark (serious) because that's how the games always have been. OoT, MM or TP are great examples. But it also should have that magical something the LOTR movies had. A very important part is also the soundtrack. Imo they should let the legend himself Koji Kondo compose the OST for the movie because he's one of the main reasons on why games like OoT or MM are so magical!
Greetings from the BIG SKY. I started reading Tolkien in 1970 and every 10 years thereafter till the movies were made in New Zealand. Now, I can watch the movies.
Real character development you aren't saying "so yeaaaah" anymore I'm proud of u lil Z ❤😂
I hop the legend of Zelda is going have a post Credit session
Also cliffhanger too for the legend of Zelda movie I am hyped for the Zelda movie I feeling is gonna be good I agree bro right I feel you
Im worried but the director does give me hope. The fact that hes trying to get inspiration from studio gihbli and that he grew up with zelda gives me peace of mind. I hope it works, but an anime would be better.
oscar isaac as ganondorf
Fantasy is beautiful.
I think for some reason a lot of fans are forgetting that Link and Zelda are /teenagers/. They are 17-18 unless you’re doing kid link which can be like anywhere from 12-16? But my point is, some people’s suggestions for who should play Link and Zelda are kinda stupid and just don’t work because they’re grown adults. All these actors and actresses being suggested are in their late 20s to maybe even almost 30 and Link and Zelda are teenagers. That’s why I think we should have fresh new names, along with the fact that I also agree that it would be nice not to link a super big actor line Tom Holland to Link. If anything though, if we are doing a child Link one person I feel like would work is the kid playing Percy from Percy Jackson.
I can't bring myself to believe it'll be as good as lotr or avatar even tho I desperately want it to. It needs to be whimsical yet realistic fun yet serious. It needs to be everything Zelda is and always has been
as a fan of zalda my salf a can't wait for thiss movie to come out
I like these laid back type of videos
Where’s tears of the kingdom part 22
Since director Wes Bell is planning to incorporate a Miyazaki style (like Princess Mononoke, Howl’s movie Castle, Spirited Away, etc) to this film , my hope for him, Nintendo & Miyamoto established the relationship between Link x Zelda.
They started out at best of friends in the beginning until he lost her. Finding Zelda had become Link’s motive that has nothing to do with saving the world. Then their relationship will evolved them into be lovers. I’m sure fans and Zelink shippers would appreciate it.
So pumped for the Zelda movie. Loved the Avatar movies, and the fact that a Zelda FAN is directing this film just excited me more. It truly give that reassurance we wouldn't have for the movie otherwise. The Zelda movie will definitely be my favorite movie I bet, and since it is my favorite game series of all time, I couldn't be more excited for this type of thing to be happening right now. Love the vids, wish you the best Luke!
I clicked so fast im so excited for the movie
Oh boy this is going to be SPICY
The success with One Piece is because every actors and actresses chosen actually embodied the character that they acted as. As well as sticking true to the original work. The failure with the other adaptation is because of how the story is written and how the writers tended to make live actions darker than their original animated counterpart, like the Winx Saga. Disney is a failure because everything was written by fanfiction writers that wanted to add their personal politic into it. The same goes with the LotR series where the writer put their own narratives into the work instead of staying true to the original. Same goes with The Witcher. Every failed adaptation falls on how the story moved away from the spirit of the original work that mesmerized people. Had the Mario Movie followed the suggestion to make Princess Peach a girl boss, it won't be as good because Princess Peach is supposed to be Mario's friend instead of his boss.
Personally, I think a good adaptation should not involve any real world politic. Imagine the developer making Zelda an African instead of her European inspiration like they did with Disney's Little Mermaid. The outrage of fans all over. Had they been in India, the director will be pelted with rotten food and veggies. As long as the original work is followed like gospel, the story will at least be celebrated by hardcore fan. As important as Princess Zelda is, she should remain Link's partner rather than the typical girl boss feminist that plagued the American movies. She's a princess, yes, but she is his complimentary partner. Meanwhile, Link, having been a clean slate so far, could be depicted as a dork and fan will rejoice either way. But if they made him full of resentment and vengeful, angsty hero that plagued his depiction in most fanfiction, that would be terrible.
Personally, I think Link is more a Paladin than a typical Hero as depicted by DC or Marvel but that's just me.
I can't wait for this movie! I'm so excited!
It's ambitious... I'll give it that
*REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE* this is wonderful!!!!!!!! Wes ball you better not disappoint me!!!!!!!!!
As long as they don't get tom holland or MGK to play link, I'll be at least a little happy
Hey Zelda Master, I'm hearing about the community talk about The Legend of Zelda movie. The Legend of Zelda movie is going to be made by Disney and Pixar. We've heard about Tom Holland voice acting as Link and I don't know who's voicing Zelda or Ganondorf. The movie is going to start off with Zelda Styled Disney and Pixar logos including the Nintendo Logo from the Super Mario Bros movie and The Legend of Zelda movie is going to be released for Disney's 100th anniversary event. And the movie will be from the Creators of Brave, Coco, and Turning Red.
Cant wait for it i hope it will be awesome and link be a child like in the game also your background of your room is amazing zm
I still feel LOZ would be better animated rather then a live action.
I would prefer that Link, Zelda, & Ganondorf be fresh faces. Sure there could be some bigger names thrown in, like maybe a celebrity as the King of Hyrule. An animated movie would have been a safe choice, but I'm confident a live action can not only be done, but done well for this franchise. I'm feeling much better about it knowing that Wes Ball is an actual fan. I imagine if they go with child Link, they'd be able to draw in a much wider audience, particularly if part of the goal is to introduce more people into the Legend of Zelda. Adults who grew up with the games will go watch, bringing their families with them, as well as young children who've never played the games will be enthralled by the cool fantasy adventure & drag their parents & guardians to taking them to watch it.
That being said, I wouldn't mind something more mature & dark, like Twilight Princess. With the Miyazaki influence, it seems likely it would lean towards more of a child protag, however, there are a lot of mature themes in his movies as well, so it'll be interesting to see just what aspects will the movies inspiration be drawn from.
Great video
Link may have some lines. But I doubt he’ll be speaking a whole lot if it’s a live action. We will definitely see what happens
Even if Link and Zelda are Live-Action, we might still need modal for Ganondorf or the Zora or other races.
I'm excited for the Zelda movie and I really enjoyed this video and I'd be down for more laid-back unscripted videos like this personally.
Thanks for sharing this info! Mo cap would do well for the Gorons and zora! That would be rad!
Also just curious about music credits for this episode, would love to hunt down some of it. Was it all original or was some of it covers?
Thanks for keeping us up to date on this!!!
I believe most of not all the music from this vid was the Twilight Princess soundtrack!
@@reganhand3021 thanks 😊
You're right
why did you use the elder scrolls 6 teaser as the thumbnail background lol
Because the announcement of the movie reminds me of it. It's nothing but a vague announcement that may take years before we get any actual info. Plus it kinda fits the live action bg look
@@ZeldaMaster makes sense
Link is hot…..
I haven't watched the One Piece anime, so I can't really judge the live action. I did like the live action Bleach movie. I think Freya Allen (Ciri in The Witcher series) would make a great Zelda. For some reason, I keep thinking Joe Manganiello for Ganondorf. The more I hear about this movie, the more excited I get.
In Chris Pratt's defense, the reason why he paused is because he was going to say "shell-creepers", but forgot their name and said "koopas".
When I first heard about the movie my first thought was that it was going to be horrible. But your takes give me hope and I’m warming up to it. Thanks!
I hope it’s got a old Zelda feeling
I need them to start from the beginning. I want to see young link. Give us the complete timeline.
I am excited that at least someone cares about making the Zelda movie special. Totk still has taught me to not get my hopes up though...
I only wonder what timeline the movie will be showing?
Just please, PLEASE.... don't be politically correct
What does this even mean in context of a Zelda movie? Genuinely asking.
I dont want chris prat in this movie
God I hope he’s not cast
I was really hopeing for a zelda anime for years. It may not be exactly what I wanted but Im still optimistic. And hopeing its great. My biggest concern about live action is whos going to play link and zelda.
I’m excited for the movie but I’m also not because I don’t think live action fits Zelda I think a Ghibli art style would fit it more
Hi ZeldaMaster!!!!
I agree that Disney needs to stop making live action remakes. I sadly haven't seen the Legend of Zelda TV show, but i would love to see it. And I am looking forward to seeing Legend Of Zelda
They always get these bad Directors that have no idea of the source material……hopefully it won’t be a train wreck…?
Why not YOU play as LINK?! I think it would be cool to see you have a personal trainer transform you into LINK.
How come you didn't finish your tattoo bro?
Nintendo is taking a huge risk with this one
I think what he meant by “It won’t be like Lord of the Rings” is it won’t be a Lord of the rings rip off or copy.
i'm excited to see what they do but this is a Terryfying project to do to take One of Nintendo's biggest series and create a live action adaptation from it ball would have to find a setting that Looks like hyrule and he needs to chose the best actors in fact Andrew garfield should be link and emma watson should be zelda.
*praying that legend of Zelda movie good *
😮
I love LOTR but I don't want to see a Zelda movie copying it. If I wanna watch LOTR, I can always go back and pick it up again. Fans need to be more open to new things.
The Legend of Zelda series was created alongside Takashi Tezuka. Tezuka drew inspiration from Lord of the Rings, so this is a disapointment to me.
Walkthrough update? 😂😂😂😂
hi ZM
I hope the quote about Lord of the Rings is geared more towards the mostly serious tone the films had, which imo don't fit Zelda perfectly. Zelda is a mix of dark themes, weird characters and funny wtf moments, which will be hard to convey properly in live action.
The Legend of Zelda was created alongside Takashi Tezuka who drew inspiration from Lord of the Rings, so it's a bit of a disapointment to hear
Hi ZM how are you
Alright, thanks for asking.
I AGREE Tom Holland better NOT play LInk, he already ruined a game franchise turned into live action, that being Uncharted. There is no reason for him to double down and ruin a franchise I like even more. On that note, I like this style of videos, it flows really well.
Tbf it wasn’t TOM’s fault that was simply down to Sony getting greedy and using their poster child as a promotional tool to get the uncharted legacy collection to sell well
What’s the name of the first soundtrack at the 1:00 minute mark?
Ordon Village from Twilight Princess
No it's Kakariko village from Twilight princess
Oh that's after nvm
Why is the names a weird name to say? WTF?!? Wes is a normal name and Ball is one of the most common words in English.
If its Tom Holland I'm not watching it
What gives you the right to assume Chris was faking that story you didn’t know him or his childhood maybe he’s just a casual fan he played it as a kid and dropped off just because he’s not as die hard as us doesn’t mean he was faking his childhood
He’s told that story multiple times if he had pulled it out of his ass that wouldn’t have been the case
What gives you the right to assume Chris was telling the truth you didn't know him or his childhood
As long as they don't update it for a "Modern Audience", or try to meet any ESG quota nonsense.
Sorry, but "live action" and "Miyazaki" don't mix. Those two categories are practically antithetical to each other.
Sounds like the director was just throwing around buzzwords to calm the fanbase down and tamper the bad word-of-mouth, since it's now clear that a majority of people DON'T want this movie to be live-action in the slightest.
pls my only hope is that the actor LOOKS like link good lord if they fuck that up, the whole movie will be ruined for me. 😭that's the only thing I ask.
Why do i think of draco maufoid or however you spell his last time with a wig for live action link?
you can spit the eggs out to speak
Lord of the rings and the legend of zelda where already amazing stuff of my childhood but this guy doesn't want this movie like lord of the rings but instead more like studio Jibly yet what was the point in a live action if they aren't doing this movie like a lord of the rings style lord of the rings is such a Phenomenal masterpiece why is zelda not being adapted like this it would be literally perfect sure lord of the rings is a movie from a book and zelda is a game into a movie but come on man I'm a huge zelda fan like it feels like this guy is just gonna ruin this movie I'm sorry but I just have a bad feeling this guy is gonna ruin the zelda movie for me I'm sorry but I really really really do hope this movie is good and not akward or weird or anything that just doesn't fit right like in my head I pictured a live action zelda movie but I pictured it like a lord of the rings style with the peace yet slow start and it gets more and more serious and intense as the movie goes on like how lord of the rings series does but the movie I had in my head was twilight princess but if there was any runner ups it would be majoras mask but it's that 3d cgi that we all know and love
This. I'm tired of everyone saying Zelda is more like Ghibli because Breath of the Wild is the recent game, when the first games in the series have the developers cite Lord of the Rings books as their inspiration.
The studio gibilli anime zelda that was recently made should be the direction they should go. Not live action. God not.live action!!!! Nooo
Seems like you guys misinterpreted what Wes meant when he said live action Miyazaki
He wasn’t talking about the look or adapting those movies
Clearly he was referring to the tone of the movie
I'm pretty sure I understood that. I never talked about the look, we know it's live action so that was obvious
This Director is not a good choice……..hopefully they get someone else
Thats the MOST PR answers I've ever heard. Bro knows nothing about the games. All he says is "i love the game/ played this growing up/ its an amazing game" do NOT get your hopes up
I would be excited for the Zelda movie if I hadn’t seen the horrible Zelda cartoon.
One Piece is a "silly anime" ... wow. While it does have a slow start and the main characters are all clinical idiot clowns in their own ways, the series touches on a such topical issues like racism, information suppression via deleted history & propaganda, actual genocide of scholars/any population aware of the past, kidnapping/drugging children and turning them into terrorist super soldiers, human cyborg cloning experimentation, mass distribution of permanently scarring synthetics, murderous public coups, slavery, politically manufactured famine, prostitution - literally everything wrong with the world. It's the reason it has lasted over 20 years and was so damn important for the entire economy of Japan that the creator Oda was lifted out - not by request- after the 2011 earthquake/tsunami. While the series focuses on pirates and x-men like powers, tempered by the sea, there is a very world-building clever power balance in which there are benevolent pirates and corrupt marines that work for a genocidal "world government" but well meaning marines mean well and want to help because there are also vicious pirates and good marines... but then there is an anarchist faction of revolutionaries ... and the "world government" will hire elite pirates as private contractors to so evil shit but keep their names out of it ... and there are also 4 pirate lords of the seas with respected territories to creates a complex system of checks and balances. While lots of the x-men, tempered by the sea ocean world is very over the top in concept and animation, the world building is more complex than GRRM . I did not expect it to do well in live action because of the over the top goofy powers looking silly, since animation iis a perfect vessel for larger than life concepts, but, surprisingly - it has been more story and choreography driven, which charismatic actors who seem to be having the best time... and that is the spirit of the Mugiwaras (strawhats) ... as a 20 year fan I was expecting to rage and it was... actually good.
Fair enough... lol
Yeah, good format. Thanks always. Love your passion.
Oh crap. I’m a huge Zelda fan but the quote from Director Balls makes me think it will suck balls 😆. I’m worried. They should have made it animated. His claim to fame are the Maze Runner films…we are f’d as Zelda fans. He’s far from Peter Jackson…it won’t be special cause he doesn’t know how to make something “special”. What has he ever made even close to special…
Instead of Tom Holland why not Thomas Brodie-Sangster? He looks like he would better fit that role.
