I once asked which of the monster tropes you covered in this countdown quintet my brother liked as a trope. he chose skeletons because of the comic relief potential. my response was "So you like Skeletons because they're humorous?" my dad had a bone to pick with me after all that laughing. true as this story is... I'll see myself out.
I know that Papyrus is just a cameo in the list, and it's Sans that actually made the list, but can I just say something about Papyrus? He is a combination of a bunch of dislikable character traits, (like small name, big ego) and yet they're presented in such a way that it makes him one of the most likeable characters in the game.
I agree. I think it's because of the way we learn about him over the course of the Snowdin arc. At first the game presents everything we should hate about him, but over time we do get not only some good comedy from him, but also slowly learn Papyrus' motivations and why he wants to capture you so badly. Plus most of the time when he's boasting and acting up, the plot punishes him for it, and we see a dynamic change in him until he befriends us during the boss fight. It reminds me a lot of Groose from Skyward Sword actually, who's considered one of the best characters in that game.
ComicFoil There’s also the fact that while he does kind of flaunt his ego, he never actually puts you down either, he thinks quite highly of you, even if it’s not quite as high as he thinks of himself. He’s egotistical without being mean or degrading.
As a Mexican i have only one thing to say about this video... THANK YOU!!! thank you for being so respectful and for actually researching your info, I'm really glad to see you took the time and care to look this deeply into our traditions
Thanks a lot man! I'm the co-writer in case you didn't know. Anyway, it was a lot of work but I found it deeply interesting. I'm glad to hear we did it justice.

It was a really nice month! Really hope to see a "Top 10 Mad Scientists" on a future Monster Month, since the horrors of an unmoral science can be as deadly and as deep as a vampire or a ghost.
You know, I've always read Sans as being a reference to Anubis from Egyptian mythology. If you do end up doing future monster months, here are some suggestions: Top ten witches Top ten mad scientists Top ten dragons Top ten grim reapers Top ten devils
Is there even that many witches in video games? Otherwise I'd be ok with it. And also, some Grim Reapers were already in this list so I see no reason to him make Grim Reaper list. Necromancers, maybe. But I agree on mad scientists, dragons and devils/demons. But aside from those 3, I think evil clowns and aliens would work.

Saludos. 2: called it. 1: called it and im so glad you made him number one, by far my favorite character of all time. Feliz dia de los muertos Escorpión Verde.
Could you at some point make a top 10 killer instinct characters list, I mean you talked and praised the game SO much on these last few lists alone, so why not do a list on your favorite characters of the game? Explaining their backstory, design, and fighting style.
I mean, it's not like the characters are actually free to roam the surface, they're essentially either in limbo or a state of non existence until you reset the game.
12:55 "I will only choose allies I know will never betray me." Is seen with three known traitors and one who constantly said she would take over when it best suited her.
Instead of seeing skeletons and bones as just symbols of death, I also see 'em quite often symbolizing the chance: Think about it, everything Oscar says about Aztec afterlife, how it's represented in some forms of media and even some characters outside Dia de los Muertos concepts have been shown to be given a chance to make a difference in their afterlife. Manny Calavera, Sir Daniel Fortesque, Manolo Sanchez, I even think 1910's Don Quixote art somewhat fits in that description. And Mr. Grimm from Twisted Metal reboot also wants to change his life for the better and his outfit and makeup are skeleton themed. Come to think of it, Gregg the Grim Reaper also, relucantly, gives Conker a new chance to avoid death and Castlevania's Death gives Dracula MANY chances to try his dark plans as long as possible.
Feliz Dia De Los Muertos, Oscar! And what a fitting list for it! ^^ Loved the list, and I think I'll be revisiting Monster Month for quite a while. Also, ALLLLLL OF THE PUNS!!! X*D
10. I get the felling that this thing has return in Persona 5. May Xel'naga have mercy on your soul. 9. This game series needs a reboot. I was introduced to this skeleton knight in Playstation all-stars battle royale 8. Oh yeah i remember this character though i've never played, but hyped for it's sequel automata. 7. Damn. Diablo really screw up his life. Also he's my favorite first main boss in the series. 6. Fun boss in Twilight princess. 5. Man, a monstrosity made of skeletons 4. Can't have a skeleton list without Spinal from KI. Also his new theme in KI3 has swedish lyrics and a good music to boot 3. Damn i so wanna play this game. Mexican folklore, Metroidvania and Classic old school makes this a interesting game 2. I love this guy's battle theme 1. Saw this coming. He's one of the most endearing pile's of bones.
Spinal's theme in Killer Instinct reboot is freaking amazing. A choir of 13 Swedish men from Gothenburg chanting for Spinal and one of the instuments used in composing Warlord, was a kangling: a Tibetan flute made from human's femur bone.
Best KI themes IMO(from ENTIRE series): Sabrewulf(1994), T.J. Combo(Gold), Gargos(Gold and 2013), Spinal(2013), Black Orchid(2013), Hisako(2013), Aganos(2013), Mira(2013) and Eyedol(2013). But if I have to pick 2 favourites from that selection, those would be Sabrewulf's 1994 theme, Tooth & Claw and Spinal's 2013 theme, Warlord.
I’ve got a crate top 10 list for you: Top 10 most human nonhuman characters in games. Basically the characters who show the traits that people would wish to have. Even if they look like some monsters creature some of them can have the most human of personalities.
Oscar, I have seen this group of videos and I have to tell you, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have several ideas for Top 10s and I hope you can incorporate these into Monster Month 2. Top 10 Aquatic Creatures in Video Games Top 10 Demons in Video Games Top 10 Beastpeople in Video Games (Bigfoots, kitsunes, wendigos, etc.) Top 10 Golems in Video Games Top 10 Extraterrestrials in Video Games
One big flaw with that Volvagia is Stallord theory. Although Volvagia was never slain in this timeline, he was also never revived the first time. Ganondorf revived Volvagia from the dead, at which point Adult Link kills Volvagia. Ganondorf never revved Volvagia in the child timeline, so he would still be dead and remaining the same size.
You're probably right. Then again, we don't know, maybe Ganondorf had already revived Volvagia by that point. Or he was still revived during the ensuing war with the Gerudo. Or it was done by Twinrova. Honestly though, I'm not that married to the theory myself. And that was a pretty good point.
I gotta say, Oscar, this has been one of your best countdowns yet! Monster month was excellent and I hope you do it again next year! If you do I'd imagine we'd see: Top Ten Video Game Demons Top Ten Video Game Witches Top Ten Video Game Spiders Top Ten Video Game Aliens Top Ten Video Game Human Monsters
To be fair, in Dark Souls the Age of Dark is supposed to happen as the natural cycle of existence and according to some sources might not even be all that bad. The disparity between Flame and Dark is what makes the whole world. Gwyn ultimately caused nearly everything bad in the series out of his paranoia of the Dark and even branded the souls of humanity with his flame to seal their nature as fragments of the Dark Soul to force an unnatural cycle that causes the world to decay and hollow out.
The intro made me laugh so hard. Also, I have a pretty funny personal story about p3p death. First off, a bit of background. When I was in high school I was in band all four years, and once a year in the fall we go around the neighborhoods nearby and collect donations for the band and to this day I still make sure to donate. So a couple years ago I was sitting on my bed and playing Persona 3 Portable when my parents were driving off to do something (I forget what) I set down my psp and went outside to donate. When I return to my game, death has killed my entire team except for my character, and I am somehow able to run
I love the interactions between Green Scorpion and ComicFoil, even if most of them are off camera, but the bit here where the puns had managed to get to Oscar really cracked me up.
For Monster Month 2 how about Top 10: Gorgons Demons/Devils Witches Aliens Mummies (yes, I know there was a Mummy in his Zombies list, but there was only one on that list, and I'm willing to bet that there are many more that are worth talking about if he limits it to just Mummies.)
I hope you make another Monster Month next year; this was a lot of fun to go through, and there are PLENTY of other supernatural beasties to go through!
As always Oscar, EXCELLENT video. Can't believe you don't have more subscribers than that. -From your French (Canadian French) (Fire Emblem Blazing Sword) follower
Oscar... Well done! This is by far your best list! My bones can't stop shaking, rattling, and chattering! I knew it was a good idea to have extra calcium this morning! NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!!! .........HEH.... Also, I just want to say that was the best intro EVER! I couldn't stop laughing! And Bonetrousle was the perfect choice for it! 10. Oh...yeah... That thing... Heheh... I'm gonna have to deal with that soon in P4G... Crap... 9. Huh...now I kind of want to play this game. He sounds like someone I can relate to. 8. Wow... That actually hit me a bit in the Heart... My rib cage must be opened. 7. Yeesh! Not even the Skeleton King from SRMTHFG can hold a candle here! And I LOVE that Villain! 6. Holy crap! I'm starting to piece more of the Zelda Timeline together now! Thanks, dude! My mind is totally blown! And now I have a reason to read the Hyrule Historia! 5. Uh.... I'm getting Catherine vibes from that...mass....! 4. Now I REALLY want to play that game, but I don't want to get an "X-Bone".....heh! 3. Once more, I find a game I feel an incredible want to play! One day, I'll get it on WiiU! 2. * heh. told ya i'd be here. what? you thought i was joking? welp, geeeeeettttttt dunked on! 1. Wow... That's...wow! My Mind is blowing out of my "SKUUUUUULLLLLL!!!!" heh! Yup, this is by far your best work yet! I look forward to seeing your next list! Stay Awesome!
So...can I finally talk about my favorite god from mythology? Perfect. Smite's very own Hades takes the stage. Hades is the ruler of the underworld and has always been the ancient Greeks' biggest fear. Even Thanatos, the hand of death and the actual reaper of souls, is passed aside to the king's glory. In Smite, Hades is a wraith-like entity. He's made of bones on the outside, but is kept together by a pestilence ridden fog. He wields a staff that can spew the same fog to hurt his enemies with his basic attacks while also afflicting them with Blight. Blight is a passive ability that amplifies the effects of his other abilities. Death From Below is a leap that goes under the ground to deal damage to the enemy. It's really artistically genius. The leaps in Smite all have a sort of jump animation that goes up into the air and is scarcely used as damage but more as an escape. This is reversed for Hades since he uses it to combo his other abilities to it while dealing damage. It applies Blight and slows the enemy if they are already suffering from said debuff. Next is Shroud of Darkness, a silence in a cone shape that fears opponents afflicted by Blight. His third ability is Devour Souls, the bread and butter damage of the kit. Hades strikes his staff on the ground, sending out a shockwave of damage in an area. It also deals extra damage and heals everyone, including Hades himself, in the area around it. This ability consumes Blight instead of applying it. Lastly, Hades can call upon the souls of his opponents, dragging them all closer to the epicenter of the area. Pillar of Agony deals tick damage and shreds enemy protections while granting Hades extra. This ability used to be killer to any god. Now it's used more for the immobile targets, but any and all gods should stay out of its reach. While your team pummels away at any helpless spirits trapped in the vortex, Hades stays securely in the center of the attack, relishing in his massive suffering afflicting the fools brave enough to stand against him. The king of the underworld is a very strong fighter, and one you should not dare to cross unprepared. Celebrations abroad, be careful...or else the creatures of the night will get you, and you surely don't want to get caught by death's right hand man on a bad day. Your soul will be judged.
***** Hades is a skeleton. Check his splash art closely and you'll see the cracks in his bone body. It looks like muscle tissue but it isn't. puffnisse Smite is a video game with a third person perspective on the top down moba style. The gods in Smite have their own unique characters and personalities. ComicFoil himself replied to my comment on elements month saying they would be eligible for the list if Oscar had ever played Smite.
I really hate it that everyone grossly misunderstands the allegory of Don Quixote. Look up Red's video on Overly Sarcastic Productions on it. It'll explain the moral of the story.
Man, it's been awhile since I've seen one of your countdowns, Oscar, and I didn't realize how much I missed them. Keep up the great work, man. Now to catch up on the rest of monster month!
Interesting how you involve Don Quixote as overcoming the odds through having little to lose and optimism considering that's what the original book was trying to lampoon. Yeah, much of what was said here was made mainly by the musical, and the real Don Quixote was a scholar gone nuts by reading too many chivalrous novels and for the most part is at best a crazy annoyance, and at worst a danger to himself and others by acting out his noble knight fantasy. With that being said, I'm fairly certain Daniel is meant to be a sendup to the musical version, not the book, since unlike Don Quixote, he actually proved himself to be a hero despite boasting about it when he was alive.
ComicFoil After learning his backstory fully in Diablo 3/3: Reaper of Souls I really felt sorry for the guy and kind of regretted having to take him down.
Next themed month could be Warriors Month: Top 10 Pirates Top 10 Knights Top 10 Ninjas Top 10 Soldiers Top 10 Samurai or Vigilantes or Mercenaries I'd totally watch those!
We have already had ninjas though. I also think if any of the other lists are made, there will be a ton of returning Weapons Month and Monster Month characters. That's not saying they're bad though.
I love your videos so much Oscar! They're so informative, interesting, and just fun to watch! They even inspire me to make my own countdown videos! Thank you for all your hard work man! ;3
This has to be one of my favorite GS countdowns ever. Not because characters like Sans and Manny were on it, but of how fitting it is to Halloween and the Day of the Dead.
5:38 Thanks to my art school's litterature lessons Dan's character & story reminds of an another character that may have been a source of inspiration: Sir Roland. Explanation time: Sir Roland is the main character of "The song of Roland" an epic poem of the 8th century from medieval France (which is one of the oldest surviving text of french litterature and the most famous example of the epic poem genre which started the history of french litterature) the poem tells the following story : "Roland, count of brittany, is the nephew of Charlemagne, the king of the Franks kindgom during medieval times, at the time invaders of the muslims confession ( who were called "Saracens" by the Franks ) had conquered a small part of Spain, and were trying to begin to do the same with France. Charlemagne then gather his army with Roland in it, Roland became thanks to his uncle the leader of the rearguard and Charlemagne closest man in command. However in the troop there was Ganellon, another of Charlemagne's men and jaelous of the rank of Rolland, ended up betraying the army to get the "post" of Roland : after the army descended to southwestern France and fight back the invaders, Ganellon made a deal with a part of the sarsenian army, allowing them to attack Charlemagne in the back ont he way back to the capital they got ambushed in the mountains and the first people to suffer it are the rearguards' members: including Roland. Roland could have warned the troops ahead he however judged more honorful to bravely fight... Though he fought bravely he ended up dying (slow claping)... After that the troops ahead came back, fought, won and Ganellon got judged and suffered the consequence. Roland is since then a fondly remembered hero..." Isn't that a beautiful story :,D... But we all know better XD knowing it's the possible main source of inspiration of sir Daniel Fortesque we're talking about I think you got there's something wrong and yes there is ! The song of Roland is based on actual historic event: Charlemagne really existed of course but Roland too and the whole story of them going to fight the Sarasen and Roland dying to a surprise attack while they're going back really happenned. HOWEVER, Roland being so close to Charlemagne wasn't real and most of the things that actually happenned, did for completely different reasons. You see while going to war Charlemagne's army went through a lot of places and villages, the thing is , army men aren't choir childs and they kinda "messed up" some of the place they went through and villagers were really pissed. When they were near their destination and continuing to ravage places in the the Basque Country where the christian inhabitants actually put up a surprised attack on the army while they were going back, they thus attack the rearguard and Roland died in the process even though the attack was just kinda succesfull in the rear guard. Why so many changes ? Well, The song of Roland was made long after the actual event, at the time two big institutions were managing the kingdom: the church and the Feudal State, they were really influencial and nothing could have been done without their consent, supressing everything not going their way. So an author publishing a story where the State and the church were shown in a bad way, where the army at their service hurted innocents and people of the same religion as them, where they suffer a big loss, where christians had to fight other christian was not POSSIBLE IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM ! And thus the story had details dramatically changed to make the text acceptable to being propaged with the rest of the country. So yeah, the story was infact a historical event turned into propaganda. Everything that I just exposed are incredibely similar to every detail about Dan either his legend and the real story but what makes me really think about that connection is that Dan's last name is a french sounding name, well I have never met someone who had that last name but the thing is the syllable of this name most notably the "que" placed at the end of the name is a really common sound to hear in french ... So that conclude my thoughts.
That was a really good read and some great insight. Thanks for that! I can see there's definitely some startlingly parallels between Dan and Roland. I'll have to remember this.
This has been a fantastic countdown and a fantastic monster month. I'll have manny be my travel agent. If you need to hold on countdowns I'll wait. I was hoping for a Zelda skelaton somewhere. Lastly I am so happy to have a killer instinct character for all 5 lists
Well, MediEvil has shown that any undead spook is as mortal as anyone else in the game as Dan can put them back to their eternal rest. What would make Dan any different from that? But it still doesn't necessarily mean that Dan would lose against Spinal. Besides, that Death Battle idea is much better than Spinal vs. Cervantes. Spinal would be just a spec of dust in a second.
I was wondering why you waited two more days after Halloween to upload this video, then I thought, Wait today is Dia de los Muertos, my father is going to film the festivals and cemeteries. So good job being clever.
zeldasmetaknight He's the Link from OoT in the Child timeline, where he informs Zelda about Ganondorf, leading to his failed execution and imprisonment in the Twilight Realm. Link would then go to Termina, eventually return to Hyrule, and apparently become a knight and start a family, eventually having a son (TP Link). He eventually dies, but his spirit lingers on because of his regret at not being recognized as a hero and never being able to pass on his skills.
zeldasmetaknight Most likely, though I don't think it was ever confirmed. I think a gossip stone in OoT mentioned that she dreamed of marrying a knight or something like that, so chances are Malon is TP Link's mom. The real question now is what exactly happened to her and OoT Link that ended with the former not being around (dead, disappeared, etc.) and the latter dying (and presumably losing an eye).
I checked the Monster wiki and found out that Frankenstein's Monster is basically a flesh golem and the difference between a zombie and a mummy is the embalming.
Next year for monster month: Top 10 Robots Top 10 Witches Top 10 Demons Top 10 Mummies(Yes, there is a difference between them and skeletons) Top 10 monsters(Nothing specific, just something that would be considered crimes against nature)
All excellent suggestions. We actually lumped mummies in with zombies, but seeing as we only had one mummy on that list (And Kan Ra was never actually mummified anyway), I'd still totally do a dedicated mummies list.
Love the list as usual guys! Props to Jon for making Oscar cringe at the early puns XD. Also, I think I'm going to have to pick up the new Killer Instinct on your recommendation.
I knew Sir Daniel wouldn't be left off from here. And I also knew Manny would be in top 3 position. Great finale for Monster Month. Appearently there is plenty of people who would love a monstermen. Heh, Finnish metal humour.
Sans DOESN'T have space/time powers, he's just got enough insight and knowledge that time IS changing to guess what you've done. Also... yay Piastol respect.
I thought you would've gone with another JonTron reference, with having one of the skeletons on the list doing gameplay things and having the line: "People actually haven't come over in several years. That was the last guy and he's dead" for the post credits scene
I once asked which of the monster tropes you covered in this countdown quintet my brother liked as a trope. he chose skeletons because of the comic relief potential. my response was "So you like Skeletons because they're humorous?" my dad had a bone to pick with me after all that laughing. true as this story is... I love how Illidan looks at Leoric when he says "I will only choose allies who I know will never betray me"
Certainly a nice touch, considering everyone standing there...
yup...
Yea it is no surprise to say that Leoric should had looked into his allies resume when choosing
Arthas does that 2!
Since the only Blizzard lore I know about is Overwatch, can I ask who Illidan is and how does that make it funny? Sorry if I come off rude, I just don't know much ^^;
This is my favorite, just because of the opening, and don't be heartless to the skeleton puns, I'm sure they actually tickle your funny bone.
I laughed way too hard at this XD
It was very spine tingling. Oh no! now I'm starting it, I'm being bad to the bone.
Very humerus. ;)
you know he now has a bone to pick with you
Ronoc Hyrule These Puns sure are Bad to the Bone
It was a really nice month! Really hope to see a "Top 10 Mad Scientists" on a future Monster Month, since the horrors of an unmoral science can be as deadly and as deep as a vampire or a ghost.
Yeah, if he does this next year, I'd be thinking aliens, robots, half human hybrids, etc.
This was a great monster month
Kinda sad he didn't do witches
Zam #1 would be Dr.Junkenstien.
My witches would be gruntilda, twinrova, and bayonetta. As for scientists, I'm hoping to see the medic.
You know, I've always read Sans as being a reference to Anubis from Egyptian mythology. Wow, I love this theory.
You and MatPat should talk to each other.
he does hang out with a lot of dogs…
Brenden Wright
Oh, come on, MatPat doesn't have a monopoly on theorizing. Have you ever read any high-end literary analyses? Most of them are just eloquently worded, well-cited fan theories.
I want sans to be number one
>when first seeing vid in feed = halloween's over, lazy bones.
>video talks about Dia De Los Muertos = remembers that that holiday is today= oh, you clever son of a bitch
If you do end up doing future monster months, here are some suggestions:
Top ten witches
Top ten mad scientists
Top ten dragons
Top ten grim reapers
Top ten devils
Is there even that many witches in video games? Otherwise I'd be ok with it. And also, some Grim Reapers were already in this list so I see no reason to him make Grim Reaper list. Necromancers, maybe. But I agree on mad scientists, dragons and devils/demons. But aside from those 3, I think evil clowns and aliens would work.
nifinland gruntilda
bayonetta
tharja
the twinrova sisters
probably some mario characters that im not thinking of
+vinctikirby Drawcia from Kirby.
+victikirby15 Don't forget Kammy Koopa, from Paper Mario!
victikirby15 See Quarter Guy for a Dragons list.
It's too bad you didn't make this now. Sir Daniel is back!!!
8:34 "It just so happens that your friend here is only mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. [...] Now, mostly dead is slightly alive. Now, all dead, well, with all dead, there's usually only one thing that you can do."
"What's that?"
"Go through his clothes and look for loose change."
1:57-2:01That's got to be one of my favorite moments here. That was a great one!
10: huh, never really got a chance to fight this guy, seems pretty scary.
9: called it.
8: huh. i have never heard of this game, seems like something i can easily get into.
7: dang, not a fan of blizzard but i must say, this dude is really bad ass.
6: didnt see this one comming, but i´d be lying if i said i dont like it.
5: ... wow, he may not look it but he is a genius.
4: called it.
3: wow, chido, no se porque no he jugado este juego pero la verdad que se ve genial, por cierto de parte de un fan mexicano mis respetos por el esfuerzo en la investigación de día de muertos.
Still haven't touched Undertale since beating the Pacifist route months ago XD I've kept my word
but it has one of the best boss and well designed boss fights in the entire game only partially surpassed by flowey(and possibly mettaton)
I mean, it's not like the characters are actually free to roam the surface, they're essentially either in limbo or a state of non existence until you reset the game.
even flowey knows that you could be watching someone else being a genocider
If you have beaten pacifist the the next one is genocide because if you do well buddy
Y o u r g o n n a h a v e a b a d t i m e !
It tickles my "funny bone" listening to the suffering of people who hate puns
Edit: Can someone who is a craftsman please make Daniel a lower jaw
Oh! That's why you uploaded the Top 10 Video Game Skeletons today! Nov. 2 is the last day of "The Day of the Dead"! Very clever! :D
I had to come back to this list because MediEvil remake just came out! So much love for Sir Dan!
12:55 "I will only choose allies I know will never betray me."
Is seen with three known traitors and one who constantly said she would take over when it best suited her.
I was expecting this for Halloween; but the Day of the Dead works too.
Wow Oscar
Didn't think you'd have the
Backbone
For those opening puns
Sir Dan never (that we know) claimed to be anything he wasn't. He was just an unexpected hero that showed what he could do when truly needed
Feliz Dia De Los Muertos, Oscar! And what a fitting list for it! ^^
Loved the list, and I think I'll be revisiting Monster Month for quite a while. Also, ALLLLLL OF THE PUNS!!! X*D
10. I get the felling that this thing has return in Persona 5. May Xel'naga have mercy on your soul.
9. This game series needs a reboot. I was introduced to this skeleton knight in Playstation all-stars battle royale
8. Oh yeah i remember this character though i've never played, but hyped for it's sequel automata.
7. Damn. Diablo really screw up his life. Also he's my favorite first main boss in the series.
6. Fun boss in Twilight princess.
5. Man, a monstrosity made of skeletons
4. Can't have a skeleton list without Spinal from KI. Also his new theme in KI3 has swedish lyrics and a good music to boot
3. Damn i so wanna play this game. Mexican folklore, Metroidvania and Classic old school makes this a interesting game
2. I love this guy's battle theme
1. Saw this coming. He's one of the most endearing pile's of bones.
Tempest Swarm for number 3, the horn being used is made from a human bone.
Spinal's theme in Killer Instinct reboot is freaking amazing. A choir of 13 Swedish men from Gothenburg chanting for Spinal and one of the instuments used in composing Warlord, was a kangling: a Tibetan flute made from human's femur bone.
nifinland my personal favorite KI themes are for Spinal, Fulgore, Cinder, Arbiter, Rash, Gargos, and Eyedol
Tempest Swarm 3. Dat tongue roll tho.
I’ve got a crate top 10 list for you:
Top 10 most human nonhuman characters in games.
Top 10 Aquatic Creatures in Video Games
Top 10 Demons in Video Games
Top 10 Beastpeople in Video Games (Bigfoots, kitsunes, wendigos, etc.)
Top 10 Golems in Video Games
Top 10 Extraterrestrials in Video Games
Even tho the music when your battling him in phase 2 is EXACTLY similar to the boss music from ocarina of time, yeah Ai don't buy that theory
I really don´t understand The zelda time line
Alright, let's throw these guys a bone.... Get it? Because it's a list about skeletons and.....
I'll be quiet now.
I gotta say, Oscar, this has been one of your best countdowns yet! Monster month was excellent and I hope you do it again next year! If you do I'd imagine we'd see:
Top Ten Video Game Demons
Top Ten Video Game Witches
Top Ten Video Game Spiders
Top Ten Video Game Aliens
Top Ten Video Game Human Monsters
To be fair, in Dark Souls the Age of Dark is supposed to happen as the natural cycle of existence and according to some sources might not even be all that bad. The disparity between Flame and Dark is what makes the whole world.
Gwyn ultimately caused nearly everything bad in the series out of his paranoia of the Dark and even branded the souls of humanity with his flame to seal their nature as fragments of the Dark Soul to force an unnatural cycle that causes the world to decay and hollow out.
Sir Daniel Fortescue is my favourite video game character of all time
I also want to mention how much I laugh everytime I hear the puns and Oscar seething in the beginning XD Freaking genius
Spookey scary skeletons send shivers down my spine
I think Sans is starting to rub off on you, Oscar. 😏
"King Gwyn"
All I'm gonna say. All and all, good vid as always. This month is still my favourite series
I love the interactions between Green Scorpion and ComicFoil, even if most of them are off camera, but the bit here where the puns had managed to get to Oscar really cracked me up.
1:56 I am definitely sure you have more than just a ‘bone’ to pick with somebody, I’d say you would have a TITANIC load of ‘em
27:09
That tickle the punny bone 🤭
The Hero's Shade is a manifestation of regrets so he isn't a Stalfos
For Monster Month 2 how about Top 10:
Gorgons
Demons/Devils
Witches
Aliens
Mummies (yes, I know there was a Mummy in his Zombies list, but there was only one on that list, and I'm willing to bet that there are many more that are worth talking about if he limits it to just Mummies.)
What if Manny's journey... Isn't unique? What if it happens to everyone?
You can say the skeletons are skulleriffic? Ha!
I got worried that we did not get a countdown this sunday
then i saw the date you uploaded this
Oscar, you absolute madman
AAAAAAAAAAH EMIL! Thank you so much for including him, he's one of my favorites!
Is this why it was uploaded late cause it's the day of the dead today
Yup :)
ComicFoil I can see that reasoning.
22:10 “can i just say i really love this game-“
*smash cut to Dashing DerpDerp laugh meltdown*
I know this is an old video but you might be happy to know Medievil is getting a full remake.
Green Scorpion, you're the greatest. Don't stop doing what you're doing.
Stalord was one of the first Zelda bosses to TRULY scare me... at least the first time I saw him.
I hope you make another Monster Month next year; this was a lot of fun to go through, and there are PLENTY of other supernatural beasties to go through!
Green Scorpion:"If you think this list wouldn't have Undertale spoilers, you're gonna have a bad time."
Me: *Takes a deep breath* "Bring it!"
5:44 yeeeeaahh.... except that Don Quixote is infinitely much worse.
He isn't really a skeleton...... He's not even undead.
Neose Ultimate Yeah, but he is not originally from a video game, so no.
YESSSSS MANNY AT THE TOP!!! You have no idea how happy that makes me :D
So that's where Emil comes from
I really hate it that everyone grossly misunderstands the allegory of Don Quixote. Look up Red's video on Overly Sarcastic Productions on it. It'll explain the moral of the story.
Man, it's been awhile since I've seen one of your countdowns, Oscar, and I didn't realize how much I missed them. Keep up the great work, man. Now to catch up on the rest of monster month!
good news for Medievil. it's getting a remastering.
This has to be one of my favorite Top 10s you have done.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)
I actually found Loeric to be a tragic boss.
Me too.
ComicFoil After learning his backstory fully in Diablo 3/3: Reaper of Souls I really felt sorry for the guy and kind of regretted having to take him down.
Next themed month could be Warriors Month:
Top 10 Pirates
Top 10 Knights
Top 10 Ninjas
Top 10 Soldiers
Top 10 Samurai or Vigilantes or Mercenaries
I'd totally watch those!
We have already had ninjas though. I also think if any of the other lists are made, there will be a ton of returning Weapons Month and Monster Month characters. That's not saying they're bad though.
Hmm... good point. Maybe a creatures month? There might be some overlap with elements month.
I was thinking more of Spinal vs Cervantes.
I love your videos so much Oscar! They're so informative, interesting, and just fun to watch! They even inspire me to make my own countdown videos! Thank you for all your hard work man! ;3
Well I'm happy to see Sans made this list, I like him so much I named my new cat after him.
This has to be one of my favorite GS countdowns ever. Not because characters like Sans and Manny were on it, but of how fitting it is to Halloween and the Day of the Dead.
Manuel calavera certainly gets a "head"
I love your icon
Fjunbollen13 kd
ComicFoil Thanks :)
That takes some "skull"
5:38 Thanks to my art school's litterature lessons Dan's character & story reminds of an another character that may have been a source of inspiration: Sir Roland.
Explanation time: Sir Roland is the main character of "The song of Roland" an epic poem of the 8th century from medieval France (which is one of the oldest surviving text of french litterature and the most famous example of the epic poem genre which started the history of french litterature) the poem tells the following story :
"Roland, count of brittany, is the nephew of Charlemagne, the king of the Franks kindgom during medieval times, at the time invaders of the muslims confession ( who were called "Saracens" by the Franks ) had conquered a small part of Spain, and were trying to begin to do the same with France.
Roland is since then a fondly remembered hero..."
Isn't that a beautiful story :,D...
You're welcome. :)
I usually add in my own preferences to the comment section, but I don't know jack shit about skeletons.
But I do like Skeletal Bowser.
I knew either Sans or Papyrus was going to be on the list!!
This has been a fantastic countdown and a fantastic monster month. I'll have manny be my travel agent. If you need to hold on countdowns I'll wait. I was hoping for a Zelda skelaton somewhere. Lastly I am so happy to have a killer instinct character for all 5 lists
problem with the death battle idea.... how would they kill each other?
Well, MediEvil has shown that any undead spook is as mortal as anyone else in the game as Dan can put them back to their eternal rest. What would make Dan any different from that? But it still doesn't necessarily mean that Dan would lose against Spinal. Besides, that Death Battle idea is much better than Spinal vs. Cervantes. Spinal would be just a spec of dust in a second.
1:50
I think Sans got ahold of your script...
Cool list man! ¡Felíz Día de los Muertos!
Huge improvement in the terms of humour, also that Sans theory was really interesting.
I wonder if this could be a yearly thing, I would love to see Devils or Witches in the future
I was wondering why you waited two more days after Halloween to upload this video, then I thought, Wait today is Dia de los Muertos, my father is going to film the festivals and cemeteries. So good job being clever.
Hero's Shade isn't a Stalfos (skeleton). He's a spirit of lingering regret (ghost).
But he's a skeleton ghost. 2spoopy4me
could he be another "link" in the Zelda theory
zeldasmetaknight
He's the Link from OoT in the Child timeline, where he informs Zelda about Ganondorf, leading to his failed execution and imprisonment in the Twilight Realm. Link would then go to Termina, eventually return to Hyrule, and apparently become a knight and start a family, eventually having a son (TP Link). He eventually dies, but his spirit lingers on because of his regret at not being recognized as a hero and never being able to pass on his skills.
+Denzel Rozier intresting, so is Malon the mother since Tp link is a farmer, has epona, and knows epona song by heart?
zeldasmetaknight
Most likely, though I don't think it was ever confirmed.
Next year for monster month:
Top 10 Robots
Top 10 Witches
Top 10 Demons
Top 10 Mummies(Yes, there is a difference between them and skeletons)
Top 10 monsters(Nothing specific, just something that would be considered crimes against nature)
All excellent suggestions. We actually lumped mummies in with zombies, but seeing as we only had one mummy on that list (And Kan Ra was never actually mummified anyway), I'd still totally do a dedicated mummies list.
ComicFoil
Great to hear! Good job on Monster Month to the both of you, can't wait for the Pokemon Trainers list!
Thanks!
+WilliamT S for demons, can firebrand from demons crest/gargoyles quest be on top 10 demons?
zeldasmetaknight
Well, he's a demon so he counts.
dammit scorp u brought back the feels with that neir pick and music
now I can't wait to see what you does next year green
of course we'd get undertale XD; and wow no league mention at all in this.
also good job on that papyrus cosplay, you nailed it
All of Monster Month was amazing:) I hope you guys do it again next year^^
Love the list as usual guys! Props to Jon for making Oscar cringe at the early puns XD. Also, I think I'm going to have to pick up the new Killer Instinct on your recommendation.
Thanks! Also, if yes, if you like 2-D tournament fighters, Killer Instinct is a must.
That opening bit with the Bone Jokes was priceless.
I applaud your efforts, green scorpion.:)
33:06 Okay hold up: ...How can you declare someone dead... WHEN YOU'RE ALREADY IN THE LAND OF THE DEAD!?
I thought you would've gone with another JonTron reference, with having one of the skeletons on the list doing gameplay things and having the line: "People actually haven't come over in several years. That was the last guy and he's dead" for the post credits scene
30:22 Yes and i did and still will
That breakdown in the beginning brings me back.
In during processing squad.
That sounded just as dumb in my head as it did in practice.
Dear Comic, thank you for making Oscar say skeleton puns. NYEHEHEHE!
20:53 Is it just me, or does Spinal's shield in the new Killer Instinct look like the head of Davy Jones from Pirates Of The Caribbean?
