If EV battery replaced eg for $16K every 8 years life cycle... That means just the new EV battery in car loses $40 value per week for 8 years ? Plus car depreciation on top. So an 8 year old 2nd hand EV needs a $16k + investment to keep it viable.. At current rates. Probably be $32 k by then..A new 12 volt car battery loses 40 cents per week in value over 8 years. Hope China will keep supplying the $32k units by then.
He's lucky that there is no intelligence test involved in getting a driving licence, but so are a lot of other morons on our roads. It's a pity that there's no intelligence test for members of Parliament.
Obviously Chris Bowen has not read Paul Maric's article regarding EV charging experience in California where they have the biggest uptake of EVs in America. Hopeless.
Electric vehicles preceded internal combustion engine cars. They went largely obsolete due to problems with the battery. The battery remains a big heavy costly problem.
We have the option to buy vehicles that use less fuel now... You can buy the eco version with the 1.3L engine but guess what, we don't want it! Stand by for our deluded overlords to bend us to their will regardless though.
Until you can plug them straight into a power point and charge enough for 3 or 4 hundred kms in as many minutes, they won't even get a look in, except for teals and greens

And these are apparently the best on offer at the moment. Oh the joy.

Combined with what is beginning to look like a passive-aggressive attempt to restrict movement - a key requirement in the global elite's totalitarian wet dream. If you cannot afford to operate a combustion car or an EV, then your only option is to walk or ride a bicycle - effectively limiting the frequency and distance you can travel. Restricting movement and transport can help a totalitarian government in several ways: 1) Control and Surveillance: By limiting the movement of individuals and controlling transportation systems, the government can monitor the activities of its citizens more effectively. This makes it easier to identify potential dissenters or opposition groups. 2) Suppression of Dissent: Restrictions on movement can prevent organized protests or gatherings. By making it difficult for people to travel to meet or demonstrate, governments can stifle opposition and maintain their grip on power. 3) Social Fragmentation: By controlling movement, the government can fragment communities and reduce social cohesion. When people are unable to interact freely, it weakens potential networks of resistance. 4) Increased Dependence on the State: By limiting personal movement, people can become more reliant on the state for transportation and resources, reinforcing the regime’s power and authority.

Fuel prices in Sydney are insane at the moment. It cost me almost $40 to fill my motorbike on Sunday, but there's no way I'm straddling a Li-Po battery. I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid. I'm glad my car doesn't run at the moment too, cause it's got an 80L tank, and only runs on 98. EVs - i could not do my work all over the state if i had to utilise an electric vehicle - no one is going to pay me to sit in a carpark to charge a vehicle and reduce my work hours to allow me to support the cars charging requirements. I was on vacation in Australia and New Zealand last month and talked to a bunch of people who liked my Los Angeles accent! There are many parralels between LA and Sydney, not least of which is the Leftist political agenda on full display. The ideas sound good but always prove out to be lousy in practice. It's not the cold weather that you really need to worry about in this country. How about driving on a 35⁰+ day and trying to run an air conditioner? Modern vehicles have way too much glass to be driveable without a/c on any but the mildest days. Also, at what outside temperature are the batteries likely to go into thermal runaway? The probability may be low but it's certainly not zero.

I believe the last election had a “Huge” increase in PHON voters… unfortunately our biased “preferential voting” system meant votes went back to the parties people never intended! Australians need more education to vote “below the line”… to stop these either of these parties being “elected by default”!!
@@lukeclifton4392 Sadly the previous election favoured the greens in the independent race as there are a lot of misguided voters out there who are incapable of making an informed decision instead allowing mainstream media do all the thinking for them. Craig Kelly now on board with One Nation could potentially reign in a lot of votes.
One Nation does not collude with the Climate Delusion, the Energy Transition Delusion nor the Aboriginal Nation Delusion. Voting should be regarded as a privilege and be restricted to qualified taxpayers.
Ok Paul start a petition to Chris "I can't count the boats " Bowen, demanding cut to taxes and leave our 4x4's alone. Talk is cheap Paul. Get a million plus signatures and drop them on his fking desk. I want a response. I'm ready to sign now!!!!!
We need a petition to demand that Australia withdraw from Paris Accord , repeal the renewable energy targets legislation and use the most economical energy resources available.
it's all our fault, Australia voted Labor in and Liberal under Morrison wasn't much better. We need to vote One Nation and United Party in, all of us. We then may live life like it used to be.
No, we didn't vote labor. People voted for Teals and greens who turned around and gave their preference vote to labor. Allowing them to get enough to form government. Labor actually got their worst recorded vote in their history. Only 32% of the national vote. We need transparency on who a party intends to give their preference votes to.
@@rogermckinnon5738 "turned around"? What does that mean? They offered preferences to the Libs if some policy requests were met. They weren't. It's what parties do- negotiate. Every thought of looking up their website? Many show preference intention. or taking a how-to-vote card on polling day? Is that not transparent enough?
So at $1800 it will take nineteen years to get back to square one if I pay another 35000 for an electric car . This is why Labour is leading us into disaster, they couldn’t work as a checkout chick
Bowen tells us , we will save $1800 ,but the car he wants us to get is $40,000 dearer to purchase! So to break even it will take 22 years. The ute /car will be stuffed. It's about time the media call this crap out , Take note 9/10 they wet their pants when each way elbo comes on TV.
And Bowen is personally writing cheques that his own ass can't cash. The retard is going down on a social level. We'll read about his suicide in his o'bitch'uary.
So when the average family no longer has the means to support themselves whats this government going to do......... its more cost effective to be on the dole than go to work and that is the sad reality
We can just see the ev cars parked in the hot sun waiting to charge up . Apparently in the UK it's cashless transaction only, and the company deducts twice as much and holds the extra $$$ for days before releasing it back to you .And the list goes on .
You can't believe %99 of anything that comes out the mouth of any politician no matter what the party.Give One Nation a go they can't be any worse than the top 2 ridiculous parties that keep being reelected time and time again.
These people travel in the pointy end of aircraft with free champagne, and would not have a clue about the costs of travelling around Australia by road. They have no idea of the size of Australia and the inconvenience of trying to drive long distances in an EV, or the enormous difference in cost between an EV and a diesel or petrol car, I despise them.
2:13 "save a grand a year" is absolutely FA, inflation not even being considered. Wage of 100k, means 1 percent. I pay that in school fees on one kid PER MONTH.
It's all smoke and mirrors. Fuel efficiency has been automatically increasing by the manufacturer's, that's how they sell the new cars, the car companies have people working on better fuel economy. No car company is going to introduce a newer model car that costs more to drive? If they did, we would send them to Canberra and put them in charge as the minister for the environment 😅😂😊
How can anyone believe anything Chris Bowen says he has stuffed every portfolio he has ever held but he is brainless on ev cars the ordinary Australians cannot afford them, but also not suitable for country living.
There is a market for EV's. However there are a lot of tasks they cannot. EV buses and trucks don't work, EV's cannot tow, they cannot go off-road, they cannot be used in remote areas, they cannot be used in hot or cold climates. As far as cost's, car rental companies cannot afford to run them, case closed. The only thing the government can do is continually increase the cost of ICE vehicles. But that's the point of "Net Zero", it's not to save the planet, it's a excuse to raise taxes, over and over again.
To test Bowen's arguments on costs: It is probable that their calculations on energy costs are based upon charge at home electricity rates. Charge at home is not possible for anyone living in an apartment or inner city townhouse. It is often reported by UK and US EVB owners that the charging costs away from home are often 10 or more times the cost of home charging. If Bowen believes that everyone will charge their EVB at home for the lowest electricity rate, which is indeterminate as the mains power supply becomes less reliable, then Bowen is a bigger idiot than we gave him credit for.
a test has recently been done using 2 identical 7 series bmw i ev and 1 petrol the ev on a trip to sydney. the ev was more expensive and took long so how does it jump to $1800 and thats include the petrol excessive tax Bowen is a liar and a fool
This all comes from a most failed politician in Australia. As far as I can remember this person has stuffed up every portfolio he held, yet somehow he has managed to convince the gullible lefty faction of the Labor ( which means all of them, even the mob that believe they are moderate) that he is the answer to our future. As far as coming up with numbers, we all remember the fiasco when he was to be our Treasurer. Can't add up!
I seem to recall Mike Burgess in the media a couple of weeks ago talking about our Polly’s being influenced by foreign agencies. When you hear what Bowen has pitched its got external influence written all over it. There is only one country who benefit from the sale and use of EV’s and they manufacture the batteries and now also have several companies producing EV’s. Mr Bowen even suggested global power houses like Toyota buy carbon credits off these manufactures!
So how much does it cost to charge an ev nobody has said or given a comparison. I have also heard that if you don’t get the correct charging connection for charging stations it can take a very long time to charge and cost a lot. With power prices going up all the time I can’t see how it could be cheaper. Also I can remember the scream back in the seventies that oh no we are going to run out of oil and we won’t be able to make petrol. That was a lie it’s been nearly 50 years and nobody is saying we are even close to running out it was just a ploy to put up fuel prices and rip the public off again. The rich getting richer as usual. This government needs to go the sooner the better before they totally destroy this country.
It shoukd be a Federal Offence for any politician to dictate what we can and can't buy with our money. The majority did not wiil GovCo to enact this, so, they are acting without our consent, against us. That has to be a criminal act.
Ask Albo how much is a litre if petrol or diesel. He hasn't got a clue. Ask a man on the street and he will tell you , and also where its the cheapest outlet.
unlikely they will cancel out car over a certain age .. i can see them however doing what they have done overseas in Europe and that is make it more expensive to register older cars

Restricting movement and transport can help a totalitarian government in several ways:
1) Control and Surveillance: By limiting the movement of individuals and controlling transportation systems, the government can monitor the activities of its citizens more effectively.
Don't forget that not only does the govt get the petrol tax of 49+cents they also get the GST on each litre of fuel sold.
GST is not on every litre of fuel it is 10 percent of the total cost , which you can also claim for if you are running a sole trader business via your taxes which most tradesmen are eligible for.
@@iamasmurf1122 GST is calculated on your purchase whether it is one litre or many. How can anyone believe anything Chris Bowen says he has stuffed every portfolio he has ever held but he is brainless on ev cars the ordinary Australians cannot afford them, but also not suitable for country living.
Bowen's assessment seems based on California..... which is different to everywhere else!
Guess I’ll just have to stick with my 96 year old 1928 Chev 1 ton truck, unless I can convert it to electric 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Time for the people stand up and show the Aussie Governments who they work for
Hold them to account, they must say how many litres of petrol that $1800 saving is based on. Cant do it.
The idea is to shrink the middle class, make petrol more expensive and thus have less ppl being able to access it
To test Bowen's arguments on costs:
It is probable that their calculations on energy costs are based upon charge at home electricity rates.
But the electricity costs have ALREADY tripled! And there is not enough electricity around to charge all those electric cars at once!
And If You Go For A Walk We will Tax Your Feet......
a test has recently been done using 2 identical 7 series bmw i ev and 1 petrol the ev on a trip to sydney. the ev was more expensive and took long so how does it jump to $1800 and thats include the petrol excessive tax Bowen is a liar and a fool
Australia is such a huge country to have an EV vehicle, it,s not feasible , pull a caravan JOKE
they're perfect for a 15 minute city.
Bowen is following orders
He has to be, he's insane.
